What's everyones take on a competitive time for a 7th grade girl in the 1600?

I would say around 6:30 to 7 minutes is a competitive time.

Hey just read through the thread, Malvern has a track team this year, first year in like forever but they have a team this year, and I heard like 2 days ago that Lofton is in Little Rock now so What's the story on that? If that's the case then Stephens will likely win the 400 depending on what Bobo does.

I haven't heard that. That could throw knots in the sprints this year. Lofton had moved to LR after last season and we all thought he was for sure going to stay. But about three weeks ago he showed up at school and said he wanted to stay down here. Also, Steele our 800 runner wasn't going to run track but decided to at the same time Lofton cane back. So our team went from average back to pretty good in one day!
Almost forgot... Lofton moved to LR and ran on AAU team last summer. His best time was a 49.5. Hoping for good things out of him.

True Player

Well don't know anything on Steele. But just heard that lofton moved back to nashville then went back to LR.

~WPS~

Yeah. Steele was our best distance last year as a sophomore. Best time in 800 is 2:04. Got 3rd at state.  Makes a big difference having him.

AT

Ready for the this weekend so we can start getting a good idea of who has what.

I'm hoping to make it up to Fayetteville on Saturday to watch the indoor track meet.

Softball Dave

I will bringing my son, Cody to the Fayetteville meet. Would like to meet some of you guys if you are there. I'll be one of three people wearing a DeWitt shirt. Please look me up if you make it to the meet.

True Player

DeQueens practice earlier this week were 6 guys under 5 10 in mile and 13 under 5 30...it will be interesting to see how they are spaced out in meets

AT

Today is the day. I don't think I'll be able to make it up there and see the meet, sadly. Can't wait to hear about it and see the results.

AT

Here are my predictions for contenders in all classifications this year

7A
Bentonville, Southside, Fayetteville

6A
Lake Hamilton, Russellville

5A
Magnolia, Vilonia, Alma

4A
Nashville, Heber Springs

3A
Prescott, Rivercrest

2A

I thought I would go ahead and wrap up the 5A performances for the ATCA invitational

Sprints
The sprints were dominated by Anthony Blakely of Mills and James Sax of Vilonia. It seems like Mills has a lot of good sprinters. If they are able to find a way to throw some field events together and maybe one distance runner, they could make some noise at state.

Vilonia is going to be relying heavily on James Sax this year, and he has proven that he can do it. The guy could easily place in the 100, 200, 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and long jump. He will have to do well in all of those to put Vilonia over the top.

In the 400, Greenwood had a surprise sprinter who ran low 53s. Everyone else was so-so.

Distance:
The distance races were mostly Alma, Vilonia, and Siloam Springs

For the Airedales, the 1600 was where Alma performed their best. These were their times
Maness: 4:56.44
Batura: 4:59.27
Moffett - 5:03.87
Fulenwider - 5:15.37

Vilonia's Ebmeyer and Siloam Springs's Greening ran great 800 times (2:03, 2:04).

In the 3200, Vilonia showed their stuff while Alma only put one runner and he did well.

In the 60 meter hurdles, Vilonia took the top two spots for 5A (Sax and Cotton). Alma got third.

In the 4 x 4, Alma ran a GREAT time for this early in the season (3:33). Vilonia was the next best 5A team with a 3:39.

4 x 8, Vilonia ran a 9:07. I was surprised by that time. I thought they would run faster, but they have a lot of time to improve. Alma didn't run a team this meet.

In the high jump, Blossom of Siloam Springs showed his stuff by jumping 6' 4" early in the season.

The pole vault, Vilonia flexed their muscles with the Wyatt twins both jumping great (15' 4, 14' 4).

The jumps didn't really have many 5A athletes. Sax jumped well for Vilonia and Mills had some solid jumps from their two athletes.

In the shot put, Alma and Vilonia took up all the top spots for 5A.

The best 5A performances this week

1. Trey Wyatt - Vilonia - Pole Vault - 15' 4"
2. Anthonly Blakely - Mills - 60 meter dash - 7.13 (converts to 10.98 100 meter dash)
3. James Sax - Vilonia - 60 meter hurdles - 8.40 (roughly converts to 14.40)
4. Alma - 4 x 4 team - 3:33.93
5. Damian Blossom - Siloam Springs - 6' 4"

Others: Alex Embeyer - Vilonia - 2:03.87
            Corbin Greening - Siloam Springs - 2:04.56
            Kyle Wyatt - Vilonia - 14' 4"

MHSGrad

That is the best Alma has looked at indoor in recent memories.. looks like vilonia awoke a sleeping giant.. lol

AT

Alma did well in the events they had athletes in. I don't see one disappointing performance except maybe our pole vaulter didin't get a height, but they usually start off a pretty challenging height at Tyson.

Everyone else either exceeded my expectations or met them.

Ready to see Magnolia/Camden Fairview's first meet.

pantherxctf

well im finally back on. its been awhile as pointed our by rattler on saturday. speaking of rattler i didnt catch you before you left saturday. im hoping your kids did as good or better than expected. all in all i think it was one of the best indoor meets ive participated in. unfortunetly me and a few of my buddies wont be able to make it to the indoor state meet  :(  :'( due to the state swim meet being that very same saturday. ill still be anctious to see how the 5a teams do though. Ill be trying to get on more now that schools slowed down a bit and its finally season. Cant wait for the first outdoor meet! Lets get after it!

RATTLER43

I thought you ran well. I too am glad it is underway.  Hoping you go sub two in the 800.   I had some great, some good, and some bad. More later. Off to a ball game.

Any picks on indoor state?  Since my son is at Nashville, I don't think it's any surprise that 4A boys is between Heber and Nashville.  4A girls is between Monisa Poole and _______?

I laughed when I read that. But it's true she will win state by herself pretty much, all it takes is 60 points and she'll get you that.
I'd have to agree with you on it being between Heber and Nashville, though I'm a little biased also since I run at Nashville with Jared. I wasn't too impressed with Heber's times at the indoor meet last weekend. I feel we should make it a heck of a track meet next Friday.

RATTLER43

Never count out Mansfield girls. Poole's points will be tough to overcome but...

5A - 7A Seems to be between Bentonville and Fayetteville.

not a clue? that's why i asked.  No one from waldron seems to post on FF.

True Player

I don't know much on Waldron this year, but I don't think they'll be in the run for any state titles, simply because they lost most of their only points at the state meet with that 400-200 kid. (boys)

Your right, the only person that I remember from Waldron's team last year was him.  He scored most of the teams points if not all. Looking at the Indoor's results from last year Waldron got 4th, and Tanner scored 31 of the team's 43 points, also was a part of the 4x4 team that scored 5. So 36 of 43.

AT

I really wish the next indoor meet would hurry up and roll around. I want to get a little better gauge on the 5A West at least.

FigTrackStar2013

6 days full Indoor.!! Real excited to see the other 1-4A schools there and see what kind of competition they bring.!

pantherxctf

It kills me that I'm going to miss indoor state this year! It's one of my favorites for the who season! I wish all of u the best of luck there this weekend. Cant wait to see final results

pantherxctf

State indoors only 2 days away! And then it's time for outdoor

AT

Alma will be taking close to their full team (or as much as is allowed) to the state indoor meet. I don't think we have the quality to compete with the 7A schools and we don't have a James Sax or two crazy pole vaulters like Vilonia, but I suspect we'll see some good depth.

vtown22

Vilonia will not make any noise after only losing to Bentonville by 10 at last meet....Prom is tonight so they are only taking 12 athletes to the meet...Not sure who all is going....Sax is not and don't think the vaulters are either

vtown22

found out vaulters did go and went 1 and 2....Cotton got 5th in hurdles...Ebmeyer won 800 at 1:56.5 hand held is what i'm being told

AT

All I know about Alma right now is that their 4 x 8 team got 7th and their 4 x 4 team ran an indoor school record of 3:32.15. Don't know what place they got.

buckhunter2012

Mansfield girls won indoor with 65 pts.  Alot of good teams showed.  Great meet!

AT

Wow! Alma vs. Vilonia is going to be a barn burner this year.

Alma had a great meet. 4 x 4 ran 3:32 for 3rd place, and our 4 x 8 ran 8:39 for 7th place.

Had a 5' 10 high jumper, another miler run under 5:00. We had a 5' 10 high jumper, a 12' 0" and an 11' 6" pole vaulter.

Our 800 wasn't super impressive, but I don't think these guys are used to running that event on an indoor track. I suspect those times will come down a lot when outdoor rolls around.

Three guys in the low 9's for the 60 meter hurdles (which is already close to putting you at the state meet).

Not to mention, Ethan Brewer ran 22.95 in the 200 AND 50.86 in the 400. Has to be the best sprint performance by an Alma sprinter indoors ever.

pantherxctf

Any idea when and where the quickest results will be up?

no, it didnt. i didnt check the mile times, but in the 200, the winning time for 1a-4a wouldnt have even placed, and in the 400, first place for 1a-4a was 6 seconds slower than 5a-7a first place, and they would have failed to place there as well.

A 4:52 mile in the 5A-7A meet wouldn't have even placed if you took out the first 8 finishers.

4:52 got you 17th place.

Except for the 1st place winner in the 1600 none of the a-4a would have placed in the top 8 for 5a-7a
