IF..........Arkansas is ever gonna improve, we've got to keep our good local talent here. Hoping the new coach up there can keep 'em at home and get us back on track! With that being said, I don't know Mr. Bohannon and his family and I hope he does whatever is best for him. I just hope he doesn't do the three or four different hats deal where he acts like he's gonna put one on, then at the last second takes it off for another. That's in poor taste, in my opinion.
I honestly think Bohannon will probably start next season if he commits. He is no doubt the best fit to run Morris's offense right now unless they get a transfer or something
I hope he go to Arkansas probably not according to my buddy he says there's still a chance for Arkansas but very slim that he goes.

I remember Storey getting buried behind the Allens. Bohannon however is not Storey. The potential is there for both he and Nolan to be very good.
Just don't think other QB's that have been on the roster ever got the development or attention the Allens got while they were on the Hill

Playing time would be the only appeal to Indiana I could imagine.

The state of UA is hardly better than a team that just went 11-2. At this point Arkansas isn't better than very many schools. You can only hope it gets fixed in the next several years.
I guess but it's still the SEC .. I think most people would consider it a better program also you know who your coach is gona be .. norvel will likely be gone soon from Memphis .. although personally I could understand him going there it's close too his home and he would most likely dominate

Bohannan is going to have to learn how to play college ball where the talent across the LOS is much better than he sees right now. It is not going to just happen. Domination may come one day but it won't be next year.
Well you also have too understand that his O line will probably be much better in college ... Now with that being said yes I suspect he would need some years too develope most all qbs do
Baylor has one freshman QB on the roster I believe with zero QB commits for 2018 and beyond. Instant playing time there.
As one of the Earle guys said Lunney and B.B. mishandled his recruiting from the beginning. Doesn't mean Morris didn't make an impression.
Arkansas has 3 QB's on the roster, Noland a firm commit, Bohannon offered and another Texas QB offered for 2018. That's a lot of competition at QB.
Whether it's here or anywhere else I hope he's successful

No one said that's his excuse, the Hogs never put forth any effort. Morris came and had a helluva presentation but he's up against coaches that have been recruiting Gerry the last 2 years. Gerry was at Memphis this weekend. Recruiting is about the relationship and with one week before signing day it was impossible for Morris to do that. Lunney could have done a better job if he wanted to. Lunney had no interest in Gerry. By the way Gerry went on the hill and worked out at every skill position on O & D and the Hogs still took their time in extending an offer. Hogs blew it.

Hat game looks like Baylor. He'll have one other QB to compete with vs 2-3 incoming freshman and what's already there at Arkansas. This is the hand he was delt based on his location, I imagine he's a great kid and is choosing a school he'll have the best opportunity at. Baylor is that school. He's been the best athlete at his school since he was in the 8th grade, best player in 2a since he was a sophomore. He's never been challenged for a position and he's light years behind in understanding a complex college offense. No more "z go" "x slant"... Baylor will be the best fit for him. Good luck to him!

Baylor is just highly known when it comes to academics. It is also the largest Baptist university in the country which carries a lot of weight in this part of the country in particular for some reason. I think Baylor was a great choice for him for his football future and his future in general after football.

Done much hiring in this state? If he stays in Texas after football and if he gets a degree you may be right. If he ever wants to come back to Arkansas a degree from Baylor is no different than one from UAM.

But we have picked up two other Arkansas players, Phillips and Ferrell.

Where did I call him chicken. He wanted guaranteed playing time. That's what influenced his decision. I stated what I read and I can't remember condemning his decision. Quite the post where I called him chicken.

After reading these comments, and I'm very appalled of these responses after this young man made a decision that was best for him and his family. Calling him a "chicken" and scared of a QB battle, you must feel like a real big shot behind a computer screen.

I thought about all the talented small classification kids that the Hogs have overlooked in the recent past from South Arkansas and the Delta, Junction City keep a stable of talent, right now Rivercrest, Wynne, and Osceola have complete Stallions available and everyone is being completely negative about Gerry going out of state when he was never even recruited as a QB but was Nationally ranked. What I'm hearing is a lot of people saying skip your dreams of playing Quarterback and just come play for the Hogs where ever we need you if we need you, that's absolutely Bull. Florida and Texas supply the nation with athletes every year to top tier teams and those states still maintain top level performances in their universities for the most, but right now the Natural State is sending a message to its youth saying "If you're talented play for the Hogs or don't Play at all, kill your dreams, you have no choice!" This is totally Sad!

Umm .. man idk .. what too say ..but I'm sure that kid will get him a chance too play on sat . I doubt it will be at the sec level though... He would probably need too be a lil faster ?

Let's not go overboard now..there is a huge difference between being a good highschool player and being a player talented enough to play in the S.E.C...

Actually a Magazine Rattler. But I started my coaching career at Crawfordsville in the late 80s. Just a supporter of great Arkansas athletes and kids in general.

Why should he play for a state major of the people talk bout him and his school and when he was in camps there they didn't offer him. Arkansas didn't offer him until they find out Ala. offer him I know coach Morris didn't have anything to do with it but damages was done specially when a coach that's 10 minutes hold info and send it another school to ruin his high school career when he could just call. I have never understood why hog fans think they deserve every in state player they offer. Kids have the right to choose wherever. They are kids, how sad.
I hate to hear that people have made nasty comments about GB's choice of Baylor. That shouldn't be happening.
I like some of the others hoped he would have picked the hogs. I was excited at the thought of having a home grown dual threat QB on the hill. Something we have not had since Matt Jones. This however, is about what he thinks is best for himself and his future. Teenagers are well known for making bad decisions though. Hopefully this is not the case for GB. I hope he does well at Baylor.
Say what you want about him not wanting competition for the QB spot at Fayetteville. It kind of looks that way from the outside, but that is not our business. It is his. Good luck at Baylor GB.

Congrats to Bohanon.....wish him much success at Baylor. While it would have been great to have him as a Hog, the young man has to do what is best for him. Under BB, the Hogs missed out on several in-state guys....check rosters at Ohio St, Ok St, Auburn, Cal.....just to name a few.
BB was late to the party on several players. His wait and see approach didn't help. But IMO GB wasn't coming here even if BB offered him at the first camp he went to here. Because it wasn't a QB offer, initially. A lot of the other schools made the same off.
As far as why Arkansas fans think we should get every in State recruit. Well I think that's just about every major university's fan base. We aren't the only ones that have fans hate on kids for going elsewhere. I think this is a minority of fans as well not the entire fan base.
At the end of the day I'm a Hog fan. I want us to land every SEC caliber kid in the state. Bohannon would have been a nice addition but he isn't going to make or break Arkansas football. Plus we have to shake this stigma of especially the last 3 years of just bad football at this program if we want to get instate kids and high profile kids from out of state. If we land Grant Gunnell next year would be a huge get.
I saw someone mention Monk earlier. I told all you guys it was Kentucky from the beginning, 9th grade on. If anyone thought different you were blinded by your Hog glasses. I even had hope for a minute but reality always came back
IMO, he went to Baylor as it will be an easier road to being a starter or more playing time quickly.
I see so many speculating as to why Bohanon went with Baylor, but does it really matter? They were on him from the jump and made him a priority. He made his decision based on what he feels is best for him. Saying that he's scared of competition is an insult to the kid and insinuates he's wants things the easy way. Wherever he went, there's competition and I can almost assure you that he knows that. I'm pretty sure he knows he would have had to earn the job wherever he went as well. Is the QB competition really better at Arkansas than it is Baylor? With the offense that Morris is set to run, it's tailor made for style of play, but so is Baylor's. I wish him nothing but the best and hope he does big things. But it is so pathetic to read comments from people who are negative and wish bad things on the kid because he didn't choose to go to UA. We can all be bummed out for a minute because we missed out on another talented player, but that's where it should end.
Congrats Bohannon on your choice, great school, great fans! Now just put all those negative comments and Arkansas in your rearview, work hard and go learn that playbook bright young man! Go Bears!

Supposedly the offense we are about to run can use either type QB. Just more efficient with a mobile QB. We have 4 mobile QB's now. Kelly is no speedster but he can get yards running the ball.
I bet Morris will run an offense according to fit the players, until he can get enough of his style on campus.
The young man can choose where he likes but was Memphis not interested with him. Seems like a better fit than Baylor or Arkansas. Very close to home for him.

Baylor made him a priority from the beginning, Arkansas did not. That has nothing to do with the new coach, but I'm sure it made a difference to the kid when it came down to making a decision. He also made it known from the beginning that he wanted to be a QB, can't fault him narrowing it down to schools where he would definitely get that opportunity and get it early on. If he wasn't from Arkansas I doubt a Hog hat would have even been on the table IMO. And for those of you saying he will never get a job in this state...or to leave and never come back...really? He's 17/18 years old. I'd hate to hear what you say to adults that make decisions you don't like. I'm sure he would have no problem finding a job in the northeast corner of the state where he is actually from.

It was a no win situation for Bohannon at Arkansas. First Arkansas didn't really want him. Connor Noland was coming and that is the Qb they wanted. If Bohannon had come to the Hogs and beat out any of the Qb's we'd have a Qb controversy worse than you'd want . He did the right thing and went where he was wanted. He wasn't going to come to Arkansas and be like Peavey did. Wait for whole family to play Qb and win nothing in the SEC. Ty Storey, Cole Kelly and Connor Noland will get the job done. What about the possibility of Ty Storey transferring to Oaklahoma state, to play with the kid who just committed there from Charleston.

911 is the number that the Hogs call weekly in the SEC, that's probably why all those Warren guys baled to Tennessee where they are calling the same number. But the Air MMA Chump still haven't said how he feels about those guys...

Guess the new coach didn't want to "put the hammer down and get in the left lane" on recruiting like he said he would with everything. That's his go to cliché phrase you know? Sad day when Kentucky, Vandy, and Mizzou out recruit us.... Tennessee, Texas A&M, Miss State, and Florida all had coaching changes and it didn't seem to cause havoc for them and drop them to 14th behind Vandy, UK, and Mizzou like we did. So we are gambling on some guys leaving before we have to jerk scholarships to accommodate the new signees? I believe you can take scholarships away, so if we are planning to do that why don't we tell them now and be done with it?
You can not take scholarships away .. kids will see the writeing on the wall in the spring.. it's not a gambling it's just facts ... It happens at every university in America and especially after coaching changes .. will be fine

The 4 year scholarship thing is a myth.. Scholarships are renewed every year....so really players are on a year to year scholarship....if you are a upper classmen who isn't getting any playing time they encourage you to find another school to play at and the coaches will help you find one....that way they are not put in a position to pull a scholarship from a kid.

Correct but if push comes too shove and the kid didn't agree too leave they can't just pull it because he isn't a good football player .. it would have too be for something else

I believe you can not renew a scholarship for non performance or any other reason. You just have to notify the athlete by a set deadline. No such thing as a guaranteed 4 year deal. Happens all the time.

Big Brett wasn't too interested. He had Norman out of Greenwood. They actually wanted him as a LB. But Bohannon was never going to take a snap as a QB at Arkansas. Wise move on his part on going to Baylor.
