........Outside of JC, this is the weakest 2A has been in a while.  Last seasons top 5 2A teams were all solid, that isn't the case this year.  JC can't help the rest of 2A is down this season.  Y'all want to get mad and tell us we are diminishing what they have accomplished.  The kids can only play the teams they line up against.  It's not their fault the rest of 2A is down.  Through consolidation, and the AAA giving us 7 classes, you have this watered down mess.  Throw in the fact that teams that used to be solid like Carlisle, Mineral Springs, Augusta, Dierks, Hampton, etc are having down years (several years for some) and you get a top 5 that includes teams that just aren't that good.  It's painfully obvious.  Do we like watching the blow outs?  Sure.  None of these games were as fun as the Smackover game though.  Imagine a 2A with Smackover, HA, Episcopal, Charleston, Barton and Mayflower.  All of those teams were 2A just a few years ago.  That would be fun.

Here ya go DI.  These are Calpreps 2A Top Tens for the last 12 years (2014 is subject to change).

A few things to note for each year group:
the power rating of the #1 team,
the gap between #1 and #2 teams,
the number of teams with negative power ratings in that year's top ten, and
the average power rating of the top ten for that year (by the year).

Once had a wise man tell me that over time it would all either turn grey or turn loose. I'm at the point where it's doing a little of both.  ;D

Picks turned loose early mine just turns grey but I kinda like it makes me look distinguished. Lol

Yea mine turned loose A LOT of moons ago, therefore i just take a razor to the few i have left. I haven't paid for a hair cut in at least 13 years.

Grey hair is nothing more than a badge of honor. Just shows how long you've made it in this old world......

Very true cuz and I figure I've earned em.

Hey E, I can relate, two open-heart surgeries, 3 knee surgeries, 1 shoulder surgery. Just proud to get to go see my Grand-son play some ball. Oh I still got my hair a little thinner than it used to be, but still a full head....lol

Just goes to show how quickly the 2A landscape can change and how vulnerable some of our communities are, especially in the south and east. In barely a decade, Bauxite has moved up to 4A and is rather obscure. Stamps, Altheimer, and Hughes no longer have programs. Stamps and Altheimer have consolidated with other districts and Hughes faces a similar fate.

big E

4 out 10 are all thats left some have moved up and others have moved on.

Dragon I

I believe all of us with any common sense at all would agree that 2A would be weaker by default, just based on losing those teams.

big E

Absolutely Altheimer was always tuff and Hughes got there best players from the state correctional facility in brickeys and Barton would still compete in 2a.
