How many kids do y'all have this spring?

adaptedtigerfan

Charleston has 85 with all of the new recruits.

HorseFeathers

Lineman

The rest of them will be here later

adaptedtigerfan

They are so good they don't need a spring evaluation.   8)

Is that including 7th grade, or just the junior and senior high teams?

BUCK FEVER

They will need all 85 on the field at the same time to replace Storey.

Because obviously Storey is all Charleston had all those years.
He single-handedly won those 5 State Championships over the past 10 years all by himself.

Longfellow

I think it's actually gonna be tougher to replace some of those guys on that defense. Posky, Lynch, Newhart, King, am I missing some guys? That was probably the best defense in 3A last year. Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships

He may not have. But he single handly; pretty much, won last years.

-Painted Fan-

No he didn't.
He had to have a Line to block for him.
He had to have receivers to catch his passes.
He had to have a defense to stop the Bucks.
He had to have a kicking game.
And he had to have an excellent coaching staff.
I'm as big a Ty Storey fan as anyone, but I'm not blind to those other pieces of the team that won, not only that game, but the previous 28 wins in a row before that night.

Proud Buckaroo

That's why I said PRETTY MUCH.

-Painted Fan-

So there "pretty much" wasn't 10 other players on the field with him, and 11 out there when he was on the sideline?
We've had this argument. He's not Superman or the 2nd Coming of Christ.
Funny thing is, Ty is such a class act, and would  tell you himself exactly what I'm saying.

Longfellow

Here is one fact that cannot be disputed. Posky, Chris Williams, and the right tackle (can't remember his name), had just as much to do with that win as Storey did. And That right side blocked outstandingly. The left side did pretty good too, but I didn't see Storey run that way too much. And don't forget the defense. They did pretty good considering how outmatched they were athletically.

BUCK FEVER

overall they were very good..........but without Storey they would have lost that final.

Headhunter15

Funny that yall are still goin on about the game. Let it go  ???

'Cause obviously, Storey was the only player on the field for Charleston.
Wow, I guess I've been giving Smackover more credit than they deserved.
11 vs. 1- and you still couldn't beat us......

KOJACK

Another thread hijacked by Chucktown and Smacktown... Imagine that ::)

adaptedtigerfan

Charleston had a guy playing OL that could have takin handoffs from Storey and had just as many yards if not more in that game.

I know right ;D

BUCK FEVER

Not got a total overall count for the Bucks YET..................must be a bunch because i think they got something like 32 running backs  :-\

Longfellow

Two Rivers started with 29 and as of today had 15. Should end up with about 22.

adaptedtigerfan

FEVER, you mean runner backs?

Why did 14 not go?

Longfellow

The kids don't care. They're not held accountable. It's all part of the mindset at TR. but I think Havener will help change that. He is the right guy for the job

Truthfully

Paris has the usual 35 showing "interest" in football.  Never changes much. Lot of critical positions need to be filled. Average QBs last few years, so a big blank there too with nobody with much game experience. I predict a 3-7 season, maybe 4-6.

Longfellow

I honestly think that if all the kids would stay committed, TR could compete for a playoff spot. But at the moment I would predict 2-8 or 3-7 Record

-Painted Fan-

I predict Paris to be a little better than Truthfully's prediction.
They competed with Booneville and Charleston for junior high conference championship (won by Booneville). Junior high success doesn't always translate to senior high, but I'm still seeing at least a 5th seed in conference and a playoff spot- maybe 4th if they're dealt a decent hand. I know they've got some speed.

beach bum

About 33 to 35 are out at Cedarville....

fbisgreat

Charleston had about 52-53 out for spring. So that means 40-45 when the season starts.

maytag

I know that it may not translate to wins but centerpoint had 44 out for spring ball     That's probably the most ever for the school

Longfellow

Last season, Two Rivers had 53 out the for the spring game, barely had enough equipment. Week 10, only 18 kids dressed out. Friday at practice, 16 kids showed up, only 14 dressed out. The best player on the team has missed almost all of the spring practices, and the teams best defensive player will miss all of the summer and two-a-days because he leaves for basic training tomorrow. I'm afraid we won't have a season this year.

It is confirmed by the Paris School Board meeting in May that they accepted the transfer of TWO Scranton students with last name of Williams.. Hopefully they are athletes and can be of help to the basketball or football programs. However, first names indicate likely female students, so sorry if I am posting under wrong sport. . ;)

Proud Buckaroo

Just figured it out. Smackover will dress out close to 50 this year.

Proud Buckaroo
