Class 3A Bulletin Board Material / Re: Osceola open

They enticed him back. He lives in Mississippi County. It's home and I am certain Osceola paid whatever was necessary.

Head Lion, no doubt you had all kids best interest at heart. Too many communities get fooled by sharp talking individuals that are manipulators.

Quote from: ISU7 on April 10, 2024, 01:30:16 amWell i guess the wreckage wasn't severe enough for him because he's back as head coach and AD. Some of Crest players are likely to bolt to Osceola being some parents were upset that Colts football players wasn't getting in looks from colleges and the coaches wasn't doing anything to help out. Welcome back home Coach RJ Hooks
Was he looking to move from WM or did they entice him back?

Is he on campus now? If so for how long?  Anyone know what O/D he intends to run and what about staff?
This may be the best move since Billy Dawson's short tenure there.

Quote from: Flobbito on Today at 11:05:40 amGo back and look at Carlton's early years at MVE, a couple of near .500 seasons. Since then he's pretty consistently won 30+ games a year, going up against some great Nemo Vista, Wonderview, Rural Special, WSGF, Quitman teams in conference to do it.

He had a couple good years at Mulberry too

Quote from: Head Lion on Today at 06:47:15 amtotally agree, examples Greenwood, Mt VE, Bergman, Salem, Star City, Lamar, Farmington, Jonesboro, Marked Tree, Earle to name a few in girls & boys.

I bet Dover gives their junior high head coach a chance.  He will do a good job.

Ought to be a good hire. If he still has a fire for coaching.

Farmington would do well to consider contacting Watson at Elkins.

Quote from: beach bum on Today at 09:25:08 amYep he is a great coach and proved it at Arkadelphia. The Badgers just aren't quite at that level once he left either. But the Farmington hype is also not warranted. I've said this before in other threads. Great and good coaches are just that. They aren't miracle workers and Farmington is a basketball and baseball school before football. A coach can only do so much when you have stud athletes who don't want to strap on the pads. Some facts are below

Farmington hasn't made it out of the 1st round since Adams was there and he won multiple playoff games and even took them to the semifinals

They averaged 7.3 wins a game the last 3 seasons.

Farmington averaged 6 wins a year the previous 2 decades to that. I don't see that much of a difference there. Just because your athletic department posts a bunch of fancy stuff on social media doesn't make it light years better. Is it better? Certainly it is... But let's not act like they're on the door steps of competing for state titles either. If social media decided football results you would think Colorado made the college football playoffs last year

I agree to a point, but going back 2 decades isn't apples to apples.  How about the below once they moved into 5A

2015 overall 4-6  conf 1-6 no playoffs
2016 overall 5-5  conf 3-4 no playoffs
2017 overall 3-7  conf 2-5 no playoffs
2018 overall 4-6  conf 3-4 no playoffs
2019 overall 4-6  conf 2-5 no playoffs
2020 overall 6-4  conf 3-4 no playoffs
2021 overall 5-6  conf 2-4 playoffs but it was covid year
2022 overall 8-3  conf 5-2 playoffs #2 seed
2023 overall 7-4  conf 5-2 playoffs #4 seed
2024 overall 7-4  conf 6-1 playoffs #1 seed

We can play coulda woulda shouldas all day, no way Farmington should beat Shiloh, but they did, if the starting QB hadn't gone down the last two season, but he did...Keep in mind the records above also reflect the last three years non-conf games were against much better teams, in 2015-2020 all non conf games were against 4A teams (lower classification).

Let's see what they do this year, 4 years into a new system, with a QB in a system he's practiced all off season.
