QuoteThis year, new coach Richard McMillan instituted a strength and conditioning program to go with intensive drills on the fundamentals. In the offseason, the Lady Gators were at it by 5:30 every morning. They lifted weights three days a week and worked on running and speed the other two. Even after the season began, the girls were up before dawn, pumping iron on Mondays and Thursdays.

Not only did he wind up with a team that was strong, conditioned and quick, McMillan thinks the early morning sessions gave him a squad that has chemistry.

"Getting up at 5:30 in the morning is probably the biggest thing that we did," he said. "They all bought in. They all worked hard."

Add that work ethic to a hefty dose of wanting to be back on top, and you wind up with a softball team that bludgeons opponents and runs them ragged. With a smile, of course. These are well-mannered country girls, obviously from good homes. This team's closing cheer ought to be, "bless your heart."

Looks like a good article. But, I don't think that I want to by a $25 subscription to read it.

They're primarily doing baseball play by play but are broadcasting softball between baseball games and updating softball between baseball innings.

JC            0
Foreman   3

Foreman still batting in the bottom of the third.

Third run scored when JC's first baseman knocked a ball down that went into foul territory.  She fired the ball home but ended up hitting the Foreman first base coach in the head.  The ball ended up in the stands on the ricochet.  That description came from Pat Bradley so who knows. ???

JC            2
Foreman   7

Middle of the 5th (I think; Bradley's update made no sense as far as inning.)

Yea, that doesn't seem right. Each conference selects four after the district tournament. Looks like one from Bearden and Strong, and two from Woodlawn.

They will have a couple on the all state tournament team. It's more about performance in the playoffs.
