Yeah but there should have been several targeting penalties. The late hits just got ridiculous.  The refs warned the GR players multiple times to chill out but they kept coming. There were 3 players that should have been ejected with multiple personal fouls.
I had a conversation with a high school official earlier this season about targeting. He went on to explain to me that no such penalty even exists in high school football. I thought it was a rule, but he corrected me. He did say that many fans commonly mistake helmet to helmet contact penalties with targeting.

I congratulated coach Kehner last night and he was quick to credit his players and assistant coaches. Gracious and humble. It is a well deserved honor. I hope the win the title to go with it.
That's comical because his players and his coaching staff does not deserve the credit either.

Watch the film.   The ref grabbed him. After a altercation with. Another kid... He pushed the offical off of him.   He had. No. Business grabbing the kid but the kid had no business. Pushing him either

What do you think refs are supposed to do to stop an altercation? Sometimes grabbing to get in the middle of them is required. Don't try to justify this kid acting like a punk. He had every right to grab the kid if it is to stop an altercation. I have seen plenty of that before and the players shake it off and go to the huddle. That kid needs his butt put in place.

Not if the official grabs you and basically yanks on you after you are waking off to your sideline.

Never the less it was a bad reaction.

The whole Glen Rose program is a joke.... Coach should have been looking for a new job before he ever got home last night....   And the fans can't figure out why nobody has any respect for them....

nastynice

It's amazing this guy got coach of the year!!! I mean, you got the ball inside the 5 yd line and passes 3 out of 4 plays, COME ON MANNNN!!!!!!!!!! You've got to give it to your stud.

          Poorly coached

         Very poor Desciplined team.

SuperTurfMonkey

Horrible coach, Horrible excuse for a person...that's my opinion... :o

RamAlum10

anyone who thinks that GR should and will fire Kehner is ignorant.

those same administrators didn't fire a teacher that was having sexual relations with a student, who was 18 at GR a few years ago.  those administrators are the same kinda people that you see representing Glen Rose.  the fact that Kehner couldnt control his team, or that he got out of line with classiness, is just a spitting image of GR. go drive around GR area. not one to call names, but you will see that 95% of the people that go to school there or live there are trash.

chucktownboys

Great post, agree 100%, Joke kehner and joke school

SuperTurfMonkey

Thugs of the year is more like it!!!  Come on GRDAD?  Quit hiding, come out an explain??????????

nastynice

3A Joke of THE YEAR!!!!!!! Mark Kehner!!!!!

chucktownboys

GRDAD has nothing to explain, GR got smoked, coach, players, fans are embarrassing, should be meeting with real estate agent about moving

RamAlum10

GR is one of those places you dont escape..
You go to high school there, you either go to Henderson or OTC in Malvern, some graduate most dont, and most everybody returns to GR, and starts a family, then those parents relive their glory days through their kids, and those kids go on to act just like their parents. It's a never ending cycle over there.

SuperTurfMonkey

But I want hear his excuses why he called him a great coach and great man???  Everyone knows now.

Who votes for kehner coach of year? Anyone? No one? Was Helen Keller the only one voting? Whoever gave out this award should be ashamed
Should have been given the joke of the year award, everyone gets it and is laughing but he doesn't get it

SuperTurfMonkey

The coach of the year should never be able to coach again in my opinion...but GR will not fire him, so maybe he should have to stay there and never leave since they love him so much.  For sure no other team in the state should ever have anything to do with him!!!!

STM, as vile as some of your comments are about Coach Kehner, I think you owe a bit of a history lesson to us non-believers on your comments. You clearly have no problems calling him out by name, so....!  First you can start with your name and hometown. Second, what exactly happened to you (by Coach Kehner) that makes you dislike him so much? Third, what do you do for a living? Coach Kehner, or some other "bystander" may want to come by and visit you and critique you on your job performance. It is easy to sit back and judge others without being held accountable yourself.

To the FF Admins....I've seen people kicked off of FF or suspended for a lot less than what I've been reading from this poster and a few others.

Merry Christmas to All.

WPWells

Gridiron General you're the biggest hypocrite I've ever seen. After last night how can you say that any of this is unjustified? Your attack on STM's character is completely unfounded and unwarranted

SuperTurfMonkey

To quote a friend of mine....haters gonna hate!!  Nuff said.

GridironGeneral

So, you won't provide at least a history of your interactions with Coach Kehner? Or are your opinions just based upon sitting in the stands?

12th, not hypocritical. I'm not on here personally attacking people and spewing hate. Just looking for justification from STM for his comments.

STM's comments on Coach Kehner started before last night. Just looking for his personal experiences with Coach Kehner other than sitting in the stands.

Free country buddy, let me formally welcome you to the internet! You'll quickly learn that here people's real sides will come out due to the power of anonymity. You don't have to agree with STM's attacks (I don't) but to question them and to expect to somehow prove a point to anyone is just stupid on your part.

Congrats to Charleston for a good season. I have a lot of friends from there and always like to see them do well.

Plus, I have explained my problems with the great coach on here many times...guess you missed it...ask someone.  I'm tired of explaining it!!!  And everbody on here knows I live in Benton!   My name and what I do is my business, no one else's.  No I'm not in the public eye.  My choice, unlike the great coach.   Not my fault he chose to be! ::)

Quote from previous thread from STM

"Alright, here we go...First, my wife is from GR, she don't even admit it anymore, because of the way they act, Second we get tired of seeing 5 to 10 threads from GR every week, Third your coach is not a very good coach, plus he is very rude, Fourth, I was a ref and I have called college games and he is not liked anywhere in the state except at GR, Fifth, GR fans know nothing about any other team in the state, because they don't watch any other teams and they get on here and always say they will win by 30 or 40(didn't happen all year),  Sixth, I know most all the parents of the kids that are playing right now and they think they can't be beat, and that's okay, but why do they have to keep telling everyone, we know after you tell us the first time,AND THE BIG ONE., I was at the Malvern game and saw your great coach push a kid and he had to go out of his way to do it, I was standing right there, that is just wrong.    I'm done, you want more I have it, just let me know."

STM, I found it in a previous post. just looking for reasoning on your opinion of Kehner. To each there own opinion.

adaptedtigerfan

His comment on the radio @ half was classic....  " just let them play..  Holding? Really?? "

Who gives a S&$@. Kehner is a grown man. A 40+ year old man. This isn't a kid we are bashing.

Yep, that was classic!!!  He was mad at the refs, typical!!!  It wasn't going his way, blame it on the refs.

GridironGeneral

Good enough. Just looking for "context". It helps understand where your coming from instead of just spewing hate. Dialogue can be a good thing.

The rumor is that Kehner was so rough on an incompetent noob referee one night that the fellow broke down into a quivering fetal position right there on the sideline. This was the first time Kehner refused to let his team take a knee. The ref never called another game and could only semi function in society if he could lay down on the turf whenever he felt stressed. He ended up working mowing yards around Glen Rose and Benton and still stalks Kehner in case he ever gets up the nerve to confront him.

I don't know if there is any connection here or not. ;D

Okay...  Didn't want to reply,  but you misinformed.   The tried dismiss that teacher,  but the SB didn't follow through with the recommendation.   And secondly there are great kids at GR.   Lots more than  the 5% you claim.   In fact I guess that 95% of the lakeside community is trash because they hung a dead animal from an overpass during rivalry week...

Just saying you can't take a small sample and apply it everywhere.   Aim it where needs to be aimed.

ltb759

Nobody from Lakeside hung a dead animal from an overpass. 15+ years a LH student hung a goat from the overpass during LH- Lakeside week.

Please explain to us how a 40+ year old father/Head Coach watches his son act like a moron on the field all night, and NEVER pulls him or gets control of him.  The guy is CLASSLESS!

SuperTurfMonkey

He acts that way as well, so he sees nothing wrong with it.

Man of Steel

I wasn't able to make any of the championship games, I had to work. What exactly happened with the coach? Reading through thus thread, it sounds like the coach and his son turned into the bash brothers and took on the tigers and the refs. Someone fill me in please?

Alien

I personally know the referee that was on that side of the field. The coaches son #22 hit a Charleston player  with his fist in the back of the head after the play. A personal foul was called and the referee told the player he was escorting him off the field to his coach, (the players dad). The player jerked away, pushed the ref and told him he wasn't going %*#@# anywhere. That is when the second flag and unsportsman like conduct was called and the ejection. The coach asked the ref to explain to him(the coach) what his son had done wrong. If this coach was who he was supposed to be, HE would have taken the initiative and removed the players whose behavior was out of control.

knightpride

Last year at the Centerpoint/J'ville conf game a J'ville player pushed a Ref.  The J'ville coach went and escorted his player off the field to the dressing room.  The game was still going on.  He gain total respect from all of the CP fans and I'm sure he gained even more from his team and all of J'ville football supporters.  He did not care at that point about the next play but he was going make a point to his player.  That was what I would expect from a coach.  Well, that is if the coach could beat me to my kid if he ever did anything like that!

That was definitely the school across town. They aren't too smart over there lol. The 95% of lakeside (more like 75%) actually go on to accept college scholarships.  I think it was something like 239 of the 263 people I graduated with went on to college.  I know alot of great kids from GR!  I was just pointing out that most people from GR never get out of GR.  It's like a bubble.  Anyways, I was just trying to prove a point.  Obviously those arent factual percentages.

Wonderdog

I admire all of these classy posts from CHS posters. It goes to show the abundance of class in Charleston that Glen Rose is certainly lacking. Especially the ones where they degrade the GR kids.  ::)

chucktownboys

Wonderdog09 the GR players, fans, coaches degraded themselves for all to see last night, made your bed now lay in it, you don't like your bed change it. Embarrassing is the only word to describe indisciplined team witnessed from GR last night
