Clarksville has scored on each opponent they have faced so far this season in 5A-WEST play and Alma will need to go back to a similar style of play like teams would utilize against Vilonia with assignment football. When a player tries to do someone else's job is when they are going to run into trouble. With the brand of Alma football being produced on the field, I am confident Alma will walk away with a bounce-back victory to take a step forward toward a conference championship.

Clarksville, IMO, is still trying to find their team identity.

Pressure games this week are squarely on the shoulders of Maumelle and Harrison who are sitting at 3-0 in the 5A-WEST with games respectively against Morrilton and Greenbrier. I'll be keeping a close eye on FF and social media throughout our contest with Clarksville.

Everyone coming to Clarksville drive safely.  If you are coming from Alma take the SECOND exit, not the one by Hardees.  I believe the road that runs past Hardees and Hampton Inn still has a bridge under construction.  Taking the second exit will force you to use the brand new "round about" which is still taking some getting used to for local traffic, but at least that road is complete.

I spoke with Coach Buckner and he unveiled a new defensive scheme for that game that was causing some fits. Alma broke out some new offensive looks to respond to this. This caused the trading punches throughout the evening. We will be discussing this on the podcast coaches show and will be available no later than Tuesday. We've got nine interviews we are conducting on Monday from various teams so stay tuned.

Five thoughts:

1. Clarksville's single wing offense gave Alma fits. Just lined it up and ran it all over Alma.

2. Alma made some adjustments that worked to an extent late in the 3rd but Clarksville still made plays

3. The last part of the game was handled strangely all around. Officials and clock keeper were not on same page.

4. Garrison Jensen comes in on defense and gets the game sealing pick six...after being the workhorse quarterback all game.

5. The pick six may be one of the most important underrated things for reasons other than sealing the game...from 7 tiebreaker points to the max 13 on the last play of the game.

Sorry, just saw this Chief.

Buckner is a hoss and hits the hole quickly. Runs the offense right. He's not one of you typical wing offenses that has a QB who can only pass desperately and with low accuracy...he hit some dimes.

I'm worried about facing him over the next few years.

Just realized my autocorrect changed Trackster to trickster haha.

He gashed us until he banged up his knee.  I was impressed with his speed, vision, and acceleration.  That entire offense is just tough to prepare for.
