AstroTurf vs. Grass

I watched a QB/Rec combo that had been in sync all year look horrible for the 1st time once they played on turf.  They weren't a little off they were way off.

Is there that much difference in the speed/distance and cutting ability? 

What can you do to prepare for the different surface?

Not sure about football, but i would rather play soccer on grass not turf
