How does White Hall get the most of any team in the state? I know they turned their program around, but they still lost to the #4 team out of the Central.

Gets a set number of all conference players for winning conference, those must also be all state picks.

I was wondering that too...how did they get more ALL-State players than PA, that actually won state?

It may be a little political

STBruin

Must be...but political or not...team that loses in the first round shouldn't have more players on the All-State team as the two teams that played for the title!

Some valid points here. Please allow me to give some insight on the matter.

1. All-conference selections vary based on the finishing place of a team in their conference.
Ex: conference champion receives 8, 2nd place 7 and so on. (those are not necessarily the exact numbers, just an example.)

2. All-state selections are voted on by the coaches. Each conference receives a selected amount to divide up among all the conference teams. Typically this reflects a bias towards the higher finishers in the conference.
Ex: Lets say that a conference gets 12 all-state selections. Each team will nominate players they feel deserve to be considered. There might be 20 total players receive nominations. A vote will then take place. The 12 highest voted players will be named all state. Usually this does reflect with the higher seeds having more players on the all-state list.

3. Politics have been known to appear during this process before, but usually does not effect the most deserving players.

7 all state players on a team that got beat in the first round?  Does seem a little off. Maybe all state voting ought to happen after the playoffs.

Another valid point. End of regular season is usually when conference meetings regarding all-state and all-conference occur.

that would make sense...because the leading WR in the 5A...tore it up in the playoffs...and was not All-State...

Maybe you should tell coach Kelley he should have nominated him.

I would think he would have...especially since he led the state in 5A and was 3rd overall classifications.

Iknewthemwhen

I would think that if a coach nominated a kid he'd have a great chance to make it.  Particularly when you won the conference and got a high number of picks.
