Didn't they lose 23 seniors?

From looking at MaxPreps they returning 8 on Defense.

Before I take my post Christmas Hiatus from "bulletin board", Kyle and I came up with an interesting off season topic for our conference. Since I can really only go back to 2000 season in memory(Hembree Era), who is your best starting 22 since 2000? Here is what we came up with. Warren fans, feel free to add any names or just add to the discussion. I remember Star city was scrappy over the years, Dumas used to look like LSU in the early 2000s, Hamburg has had some teams, and so has Monticello in the past 18 years. HWH folks, please share your names too since I am not familiar with anyone but Darius Winston.

This is what Kyle and I came up with from our memory. I know we are missing ALOT and our three deep roster would be very interesting to see. Curious to see Romeo's take. Remember, this is from 2000 on.

Offense:
LT: Jhamahl Bell
LG: Dakota Moring
C: Sam Griffin
RG: Pedro Martin
RT: Justin Green

QB: Reid McKinney
RB: Kilay Cox
WR: Bret Smith
WR: Jarius Wright
WR: Chris Gragg
WR: Terrence Hampton

Special Teams
PR: Darveon Brown
KOR: Basmine Jones
KOR: Jaylen Marshall
PK: Jesus Tinoco

Defense
DE: LaFoy Smith
DT: Marcus Miller
DT: Wallace Smith
DT: Bryan Church
LB: Caleb Bateman
LB: DeAngelo McCoy
LB: Treylon Burks
DB: Cody Lambert
DB: Roshaun Fellows
DB: Chad Poole
DB: Ricardo Kemp

STUNNA

I'd have some guys going both ways on my team lol

STUNNA

And Chris Gregg was a great player. But he was never dominating at the high school level like other receivers that have come through Warren.

Or you could just rotate another 11 on defense and another 11 on offense haha.

We went back and forth on him. He and Chris could alternate for sure.

There were so many great players for Warren that its not easy to do a team like this. I've also learned that people get easily offended over this type of stuff so I've stayed away from it. AirWarren's team looks pretty solid, though. A couple names I would put on there is Blake Harris at DB. Him and Roshaun were the best I've seen at defensive back. Warren has also always had that sure handed third down receiver you can rely on to catch the football. Kurt Sledge, Joseph Harris and Von Eric Gonder are a few names that come to mind. I would probably replace Gragg with Sledge.

See. Those names you brought up. Could easily be in the first string rotation.

STUNNA

Hayden Lassiter is another kid i would find a place for.

STUNNA

Brett Smith and Burks are my only for sures at receiver. Could fill the other spots with multiple people. And because of that Jay Wright would be one of my corners.

We had a pretty spirited debate on that name as well. I wanted to put him at DB lol.

Class of 2003 knew the game was signed and sealed when they saw them red Russell athletics get off the bus.

KASH dba The Lumberjack

Honorable mentions:
Kalyx Harris DB. He was one of our smartest and hard hitting DB's ever.
Greyson Ashcraft DE. Only def. linemen to ever make strong calls.
Taylor Woods DT. He was almost unblockable.
Kalay Cox RB. One of the toughest runners we ever had.
Basmine Jones WR. Probably the more athletic than Childs and Wright.
Antonio Harding DE. He was a beast on the edge.

Crossett will not finish this low. The team we have coming in next year will battle for 3rd or 4th seed with star city. Hamburg will be down next year and I think West Helena graduated a few people.

I know I'm a Scrapper getting in here where I don't belong, but agree 100 % on Lassiter being in the mix somewhere.
