Gosnell 9-1 (6-1) 2 seed 3-4a

CAC 10-1 (7-0) 1 seed 2-4a

Gosnell travels to North Little Rock this week after a tough 54-34 win against Lonoke.
The Good:
Carlos Blackman ran wild for 357 yards 6 touchdowns and had a touchdown pass.
No injuries.

The Bad:
Despite Blackmans big night, the pirate offense only had a little over 400 yards. Still a very one dimensional team although blackman will throw it out of the wildcat.

Defense is missing 3 starters for season including our 2 big defensive tackles and it showed friday as the jackrabbits pounded the ball down the middle.
All three of Lonokes running backs had over 100 yards.
Lonoke was the second best team we have played his season behind Pokey and they were a 5 seed.
CAC has played much better competition.

Now can someone enlighten me on CAC's strengths? What type of offense/defense do they run? Key players? Just looking at their schedule it looks like they have a stout defense.

GHS_08

I guess I could check hudl for some of that info lol.

GHS_08

Supposed to be a 2. Fixed it.

Missco

I hope I am wrong but Gosnell would have to play perfect to win. Carlos can't do it on his own.

SUGARTOWN

CAC has a passing based offense. A lot of WR screens to get their playmakers out in space. Their QB rolls out quite often as well and can throw it deep on occasion. They have possibly the best WR in 4A in Josh Johnson, a strong RB also.

Defense is good, pretty stout up front.

kjjackson

I was thinking about CAC. Correct me if I'm wrong but haven't they played in four different conference in the last four cycles? Old 6-3a, 7-4a, moved to 5A and now 2-4A. And won conference in each but the 5A. Not bad, four different conference, three titles.

Nomad1324

Going to be about whose lines make the difference.

Gosnell may have the horses, but I'm taking CAC in a tight one, 35-34.

Stop Blackmon, u stop Gosnell simply put

Which makes no sense. They have enough talent that their is no reason not to mix the plays up more.

One running back is no longer on the team. We don't have the same offensive weapons we have had the last 2 years.

He is no longer a part of the team. That's all I can say. Same thing for our big 6-1 300 pound lineman. It hurts especially on defense.

Wow that does hurt.any time you lose a starter it can make a huge impact on a game.i don't think Pokey will be nearly effective now on offense since their OB is out

Come on Gosnell, keep it up. Good Luck.

7 minutes left in 2nd quarter.
Pirates have got some stops on D now they just need to capitalize.
Quick fact. Pirates already have over 100 yards passing in the first half. That's probably more than they've had in a game all year.

GHS_08

Another big pass play on 4th and 9 gets the pirates a 1st down at the 5. Blackman punches is it in and we have a tie game. 14-14 3:11 left in 2nd qtr.

GHS_08

CAC driving for the score and the pirates get another big interception at the 10 yard line. Offense runs the clock out and we are tied at halftime.

GHS_08

Wheels falling off in the second half.
Pirates turnover on downs in the red zone.
CAC drives and scores.
Next possession Gosnell fumbles at the 47 and CAC takes just 2 plays to score. Josh Johsnon is catching everything right now.
