Most turf management sites will tell you that you should replace your natural turf/real grass every two years if you play more than 10 games a year. Now I know most schools don't, but I bet there will be a lot of hybrid bermuda sold this year for football fields, or at least should be. Also most estimate their cost of maintaining a field at $50,000 a year. Do you practice on it, or just use it for games and soccer?

Just wondering about the player that was injured for Tex friday night at the Marion game.  How is he doing?  Hopefully he did not have any cervical fractures.  He had movement in all of his extremities, but his pupils where uneven and his speech was slurred.  Seemed like he definitely had at least a concussion

He has been practicing this week although nobody really ever said the extent of his injury.  They say he is OK.

If he did have a concusion he does not need to be practicing or playing this week!

I would definitely agree with that, most AT's make you sit out 7 or 8 days if you have a headache or reoccurring headaches the next morning.

Don't know about practice but there are dedicated soccer fields behind the Union County Fairgrounds.   Memorial Stadium is used for junior high games and did host the SAU-UAM game earlier this month.

Hootens have us as a ten point favorite. I don't know about that. I will say, I do feel better about this game because we have Ford and Miles at running back. Remember, last time Ford was out and Miles didn't play as much as he does now because he fumbled the ball a lot, in practice.

Calpreps is a little more generous.

Piglets are quiet......;D

Razorbacks might be quiet, but the WC Wildcats aint quiet. We can't wait to get a piece of yall butt. First things first though. We will take care of Jonesboro. Then we will burn El Dorado down.

gatecrasher

Yall come and get some there Absolut....

Frickin Thanksgiving turkey won't be the only thing carved up this holiday....;D

I appreciate your support of the marquee university in this state....;D

I'm a big fan too.....

I watched Texarkana play Marion last Friday and it wasn't a very well played game on either side of the ball. Marion had great play with a 98 yard run back, but other than that both teams played flat.
I can't see Texarkana going any further in the playoffs. "No Dennis Johnson -No Problem"

It was very uncharacteristic of our team to drop as many passes as we did. Sure-handed guys were just flat out dropping passes that they catch 9/10 times and several would have went for long gains/TDs.

We played our ugliest game of the year and still won pretty easily. We just need to capitalize on those opportunities next time and we'll be fine.

gatecrasher

Your season ends Friday night. I hope you guys like basketball because that's what you're about to be playing....

Our kids are too focused. They're ready to play NOW.

...and you think ours aren't? I'd say just about everyone in the state is ready to play (especially those 3A kids)  ;D

You won't win in a blowout. You're gonna have to earn it if you actually do win.

gatecrasher

I don't care about blowouts.....not now...

But at the same time we're due for one. It would not surprise me one bit if our kids came out focused and jumped all over you guys....

Texarkanabroadcast

As I said before whoever wins and it may be El Dorado, I don't see it as a blowout.

As for last week's game in Marion. I would not put too much stock into that one. Razorbacks were extremely flat, looked like that had "bus lag" from the long trip over.

Despite numerous dropped passes, Razorback D basically tossed a shut out. Only Marion scores came on a special teams kickoff return and a fumble that gave them a short field of about 6 yards.

Its going to be a good competitive game tommorrow night, as for after tommorrow night I hope that whoever wins the game goes onto to win the state championship......in other words I will be pulling for El Dorado if the Hogs come up short!!!!

Txk_Hawg

El Dorado is going to be so bummed after Friday night, Texarkana fans and players may need a police escort to get out of town.

Oh Yeah, it looks like there is going to be some rain, or is that Wildcat tears!

DEBO64ETOWN

All you guys have safe trip there and back. Hope this is classic that Tex can pull off. Gate, good luck to your team, and we'll have to get up at WMS. You can come cheer for WM ;D jk.

Texarkana at El Dorado
Another rematch. The South has been the better conference during the first few years of the great 6A experiment. Texarkana has been one of the better programs and, in fact, was the best team in the state in 2007. But the mantle has been wrested from the Razorbacks and it's the arch-rival Wildcats from El Dorado who appear to have a hand on the golden ring. El Dorado only won, 14-13, back in early October at Memorial Stadium. The road to Little Rock won't be an easy one for the Wildcats, but they will be picked to get past this first test. Champions facts: An outright title was El Dorado's first since 2000 and this year also marked the first consecutive banners the Wildcats have captured since 1985-86. El Dorado 24, Texarkana 14. [7]

1985-86.....I played on those teams.....Dang that was a long time ago....Am I really gettin old? ;D

Jesusfreak

This should be a tough, hard fought game. I hope El Dorado can get past this game. It is hard beating a team twice in one year. El Dorado is more than capable of beating the Hogs, just hope they are not flat after a bye week. They are healthy, and have the crucial homefield advantage. Texarkana is on a 3 game win streak and should have confidence and momentum.

Two great QBs, solid RBs on both teams, lots of size both ways, speed and athleticism  all over the field for both teams..... this is what high school playoffs are all about!

I pray that everyone travelling to and from the game has a safe trip, and that nobody gets hurt in the game.
See y'all at the game!

gatecrasher

No fancy analysis, no funky cliches this week.....

Cats set to prove loss to PB was an abberation....Hogs hold their own for 3 quarters.....but in the end, El Dorado winds up 48 minutes away from return to WMS.....

El Dorado 31-21

bigeldofan

had a pep rally tonight at the courthouse there was probably a thousand people there. bull ,clay murphy, luke lansdale, jimmy ford all said they would play there heart out tomorrow night and there would not be a let down they said they are ready. i have watched these boys since peewee they mean what they say. i feel real good about this.

gatecrasher

Man I wish I could have been there....

I'll be in town Thanksgiving night......surely there will be another pep rally next week huh?

Absolut

I might just rally up some of the boys and crash the pep rally next week.

bigeldofan

i hope we have another one next week but i know we will have a big one before the state game if we make it that far.

gatecrasher

We'll make it. Much to Absolut's chagrin.

79Cat

Look for, at times-- Lansdell and both Fords in the backfield at the same time tonight. It should be a dandy for a while.

This one's pretty hard to call. It could be another close one! I think Eldo's got the edge. ELDO 24- AHS 21    Good luck to both teams and I hope no-one gets hurt!!

Texarkana_Piggie

who is the better mudder?  a wildcat or a hog?

allstate250

No mud bowl this time around.  Field is in good shape, at least until midnight when the rain gets here.

Texarkana_Piggie

tied in the second at 7.  ed scored on a blocked field goal.

Texarkana_Piggie

14-7 hogs mid 2nd qtr.  ed driving.  on hogs' 20.

Texarkana_Piggie

hog d stops them on 4th and 5.  we get the ball back at our own 20ish.  6 09 left in the half.

Texarkana_Piggie

someone please tell alan it is "special teams" not "specialty" teams.
ed kicked fg.  hogs 14  ed 10 2nd qtr.  i think they said 3:13 left.

Texarkana_Piggie

Outside_Looking_In

WOW, should be 28-10 Tex but speacial teams are breaking down for Tex. Missed FG, Blocked FG and Blocked punt is leaving ElDO in striking distance!!

Texarkana_Piggie

don't you mean "specialty" teams!!!  holy moly that is driving me crazy!

MrsTayla

Anybody see eldo td? There calling it controversial??

Texarkana_Piggie

ed 17
ahs 14
according to our announcers that should not have been a td.  they said his forward progress was stopped outside the goal line and the refs gave him the td.

Texarkana_Piggie

they also said the refs missed a flagrant late hit against ed.  sounds like some home cookin.

MrsTayla

Outside_Looking_In

Refs are from NW Arkansas so cant be too much home cooking. We are playing like ya'll did in the 1st half and made adjustments!!
