BIGNO5873

nice try farmtown...but ill take NLR over u guys all day...lol

7AFball

First three posts all have NLR in the finals but losing to three different opponents!
That should show a concensus that NLR will be in the finals, therefore why not the winner?
Agree that anything can happen to change things, like a slip-up loss in conference to an average team.
NLR's first game will be a test, playing former 5A South Texarkana who drops to 6A this year... Outcome of that game will tell a lot about NLR's chances for a December playoff game.. Coaches and players are all in place, and now they just have to play as a team. Things have certainly improved drastically in past 3 years. They now know how to win
I still think Conway and Russellville will play better than many think! Conway improved a lot last year and have a lot of seniors this year.  Russellville may find the Central more easy to win in and may compete despite few returning starters..
Exciting Friday nights are upon us and the boards will "fill up" starting in about 3 more weeks when the official (non Hooten) polls come out..

fbgirl

Central will battle NLR for the Central.  Adding Genesis Cole really gave Central a boost.  If he would have moved to NLR, it would have been a deep, deep team.

TheHog

I'm  thinking Bentonville And Northside

7a- Shiloh and Rison

Or at least the people from those schools think so...

Rison won't play for the championship this year, and you can't find a post from a Rison fan saying that we will.

Where did Genesis Cole transfer to Central from? Was he already in the Little Rock area? Have not heard of him but must be good according to the post inference...

I think he went to Hall last year.

HSFBF

Thanks.
Well , if that good a player then going to Central will showcase his talents more than had he stayed at Hall.  Sounds like he will start. I have thought Central would rebound strongly this year and evidently the cog wheels are rolling .... Cox is a master at luring in good players and teaching them to be better players. Hutson at NLR and Register at Catholic have also shown this ability to get players who want to play for them.
Interesting to see if the 7A West remains the stronger of the two 7A conferences. Preseason polls and hype say the West is the best but time will tell after about 3 more months. Exciting times start next Tuesday..... :)

Is this the same Bentonville who Southside ran the football on last year 39 times in a row?

Texarkana who drops to 6A ?!?! How do they drop to 6A when they were in 5A in 2005?
They moved up to 6A

Easy, they went from being in the BIGGEST classification to the second biggest, therefore moving down a division.

Where have you been the past 7-8 months?
With reclassification we went from 5 state divisions (AA thru AAAAA) to 7 state divisions (AA thru 7A).
Some schools in the OLD 5A, because of lesser enrollment, dropped out of the top 16 schools whereas there WERE 4 OLD 5A conferences for 32 total. And the new 6A has the next 16 schools in size, after the 7A ...  NOW.... the is something called the private school fudge factor that complicated. So, if you did not know of that either then check multiple threads on here about - if you have 3-4 hours of reading time!

fbhound

My error below ,  I meant to say we had FOUR divisions and went to SIX, not from 5 to 7.. Forgot there is no class A in football.. Sorry for mistake. Anyway 2 more state champs this year....

mmhmm

i think that the 7A is up for grabs... it should b exciting 2 watch

Based on some hidden formula RPS has Spingdale #1 and Russellville in bottom 3 along with Cabot and Van Buren. I think Springdale will lose 2 games and maybe 3. Do not think coaching can take up where last year ended, especially with some coaches leaving and 1/2 the players now gone.. Tradition? We will see.....

Half of Springdale's players ARE NOT GONE!  They lost two players to Har-Ber, one who was a starter and one who played a little!  I guess no one realizes Springdale HAS 40+ SENIORS playing next year and a lot of them played during the second half of the games last year!  This years team will not be horrible.  They will make it to the play-offs and my prediction THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

I think when he says 1/2 are gone, that refers to (1) how many graduated from school and (2) how many transferred by choice. I know that there are more than just two who decided to move to Har-Ber to follow Woods as their coach.  Football hound is not counting new, non-proven

You do not lose a Sophomore this year that you did not have last year. So considering graduation and transfers, Springdale is playing with about 1/2 of last year's actual team members. I doubt many Sophomores will start, leaving just Juniors and Seniors from last years Soph and Junior classes who moved up.  It is a matter or wording I guess. Any this years Sophomore class is split between two schools for sure as are the Juniors...
Another way.... how many Springdale STARTERS from last year return?   That is what RPS uses in making his determination. How many STARTERS did Springdale lose? That is the key point.

Springdale has dropped over 20 points in the RPS ratings (not yet released) but this still keeps them at #1. As high as Springdale climed last year, there was no way to drop them low enough to reach anything but #1 without bringing in opinion, which RPS strives to stay away from. However, I think you'll see a reorganization of the top 3 in 7A before conference games start. Once we release the actual ratings, you'll see how close Springdale, Fayetteville and Northside really were.

7AFball

I predict that at least 2 teams in the bottom 5 of the RPS 7A ratings will be in the top 5-6 in very short order! I suspect the ratings need to involve a couple of other "current" factors, not relying too much on lost starters or playoff experience many, many years ago or a coach's past record which may have involved a lot of good players "back then".  Those last two factors have nothing to do with current players' abilities to "come through" with wins. No poll is perfect. That is why Tennessee started off so high last year, along with Vanderbilt, only to have both completely fold the past 6 games. Someone obviously did not see that the team chemistry and talent was not going to be that good in the long 11 game season. Same with high school football I would think. Four more weeks guys!

wampuscatblue

Conway will be tough this year.  We lost some real close ones last year, and we've looked better in practice. Still have a long way to go, but we arer working harder than ever.

46counterblast

I would like to Jacksonville make a run at it. If they can get a few spots to come together and mesh right it could happen.
