FEARLESS FACTS; Mitchell is in his third year at North Little Rock, taking over for Brad Bolding after he was terminated by the school district. ... Mitchell is a graduate of Pontotoc MS and was an assistant coach when his alma mater won the state championship in 1992 before going on to lead Starkville MS to the state championship in 2012. ... North Little Rock has not won a state championship under the current playoff format, but did win state championships as the champion of the big-school conference in 1972 and 1970 as North Little Rock Ole Main and in 1965 as North Little Rock. ... The 1966 state championship was by finishing No. 1 in the final Associated Press poll after sharing the big-school conference championship with Little Rock Hall and Fort Smith Northside. ... Ken Stephens was the head coach of the 1965, 1966 and 1970 champions while Henry Hawk was the coach of the 1972 championship team. ... North Little Rock has never had a perfect season although it did go undefeated in 1965 with a 13-13 tie to El Dorado and a 0-0 tie to Pine Bluff to finish 10-0-2. ... Jody Grant was the defensive coordinator for Bentonville's 2013 and 2014 state championship teams and was an assistant for nine years under Barry Lunney, who retired after the 2014 championship. ... Bentonville lost nonconference games to Kansas City Rockhurst and Conway by a combined 70-24 in games one and three, respectively, before rebounding with nine straight wins to win the 7A-West. ... Nathan Lyons has thrown for 2,419 yards and 29 touchdowns and also rushed for 580 yards and five scores. ... Easton Miller leads the rushing game with 831 yards and 11 touchdowns, but has not played in the two playoff games. ...
