2006 their junior season. They had 4 receivers that eventually committed to Sec schools. Lost state to Nashville. You can have all the skill in the world. But if you can't win at the line of scrimmage it doesn't matter.

Don't know anything about Fountain Lake but the 4A-3 is weak top to bottom and have been for a few years now. 9 times out of 10 the best 4A-3 team is a 4th or 5th seed in most other conferences. I will give props to Rivercrest because they truly are the best team in NEA.... I do not consider Wynne or Batesville to be NEA. Gosnell could be competitive outside of NEA if they had depth but seems like their numbers continue to decline since the fall of 2012 season. Lack of depth will always keep Gosnell out of a deep playoff run.
Trumann and Westside are improving but do not have near the number of athletic players that it would take to compete outside of NEA with the exception of a match up against a 4th or 5th seed.

I grew up in and played for Gosnell and am now in coaching. I've seen this first hand, if I were betting on an NEA school to have a chance I would put all my money on Rivercrest. (as much as that pains me to say...)

Fountain Lake's losses were against four very good teams.  Rivercrest has an easy offense to figure out, just have to put 9 men in the box and hope to stop it. Could be interesting game.

Colt offense has only been stopped once all year. Have to smother the line, and, hope your linebackers can cover the outside. Either way, very tough task.

If you look at the more consistent programs as far as success goes, it isn't hard to see that they are competitive in every sport....not just football. Seems maybe the NEA is on that "One sport specialist" train.
