Famed movie and TV director Robert Altman died Monday of complications from cancer.  He was 81.
Probably best known for the '70's TV show M*A*S*H, Altman also directed films such as The Player (with Tim Robbins), Popeye (Robin Williams), Nashville (David Arkin), Pret-a-Porter (Sophia Loren), Dr. T And The Women (Richard Gere), and Short Cuts (Andie MacDowell).  His last film, the musical "A Prairie Home Companion", had an all-star cast that included Tommy Lee Jones, Woody Harrellson, Meryl Streep, Lindsay Lohan, Kevin Kline, Lily Tomlin, and John C. Reilly.  Altman also directed TV episodes of Combat! and Bonanza.
Rest In Peace.
