Let's see if we can keep the habit alive and post scores for the week in the associated thread.
Out of conference play continues for some and for others it begins...
Hopefully the snow and ice is gone and after this week, basketball (and all winter sports) should be too.

sevenof400

Looks like a nice weather week ahead, with lots of games on tap.  Please keep those scores coming.

Beautiful weather today.

White Hall had their home opener today vs Mills
VG: WH 4-0 Mills
VB: WH 4-0 Mills

Consistent, if nothing else.  Both games were 4-0 at halftime and White Hall used the second half to get experience for the youngsters.
Also, I heard that the scheduled games vs Warren tomorrow for VG and VB was canceled, scheduling conflicts apparently.

Warren was not scheduled to play White Hall, they are playing Arkansas Baptist tonight (3/11) at home

Lionheart88

White Hall was under the impression they were coming to WH tonight.  Thus why I said there'd been a scheduling conflict.

Wow, I saw a upcoming Vilonia boys team last year in the playoffs, but to tie 6A Searcy boys (they have 6 State boy's trophies and lead in overall State boys/girls trophies in all conferences with 10) is something to brag about.  Great job Eagles!

How did Searcy not dominate this game? They're the class of the conference and a top team in the state, a school as small as Vilonia shouldn't have tied surely... What happened here?

Jonesboro needs to play harder competition.  They should be playing Valley View and Vilonia instead of the weaker 5A East teams.  That's why they won't every make any noise in the playoffs.

Searcy graduated a LOT of players last year - maybe as many as 12 - 15 and maybe more.
The Searcy boys team you knew from last year is NOT the team this year.  This isn't to say they don't have potential, but they will need some time to put it together.

Searcy boys graduated 14 players last year; many of those had started as sophomores or juniors so they had considerable varsity experience---it was one of those outstanding classes that comes along every so often. This year's squad has 4 returning starters (one who will probably not be on the field til after spring break) and about 4-5 others who have any significant varsity minutes. I do not want to take anything away from Vilonia. They are improved over last year and I would expect them to fare well in their conference. They played a very determined match.
I think Searcy will be much better in May...they just really need lots of time together. Really wish the first conference match was after spring break and not next week but it is what it is.

sevenof400

Jonesboro and Vilonia do have a late season matchup in May just prior to the state tournament in Jonesboro.

Glad to hear that they're playing some quality teams.  A school their size with that talent should not be playing Paragould. Or Nettleton, on the guys side at least.

Tournament in El Dorado today and tomorrow, with boys and girls teams from El Dorado, Warren, Hope, Texarkana, DeQueen, LR Central, Arkadelphia, and Sheridan.  This afternoon El Dorado beat Warren on PKs after tying 3-3.  They are weak defensively but have strong counter attacking and individual play.

Also on Searcy: definitely a down year for them, we held them to a draw twice this fall.

In addition, last week we (El Dorado boys) beat Monticello 9-1, then lost to Russellville 3-1 and Hope 2-1 in the Texarkana tournament.  The ElDo girls won that tournament, beating Russellville twice and crushing another team.  El Dorado girls lost to Pleasant Grove (tx) 2-1 this week as well.
