The Future

Very good write up. Lots to watch for in this game.

Only thing that confused me was how does the series at 2-2 give an edge to Pine Bluff? Or either team for that matter? They have both beaten each other in a semifinal game and a title game.

I assume that normally GW can intimidate some teams and that is a typical advantage, but not so much with PB. They have beaten or competed the best of any other team with GW as any other team the last few years. It should be a PUSH basically with all things being equal, but there is some validity to what he says.

Many teams go into a match-up HOPING they can beat GW and CRJ;whereas, PB goes into the game KNOWING they can.

Just a small observation but that pick might be based on PB beating GW in the bigger games. Ex. 2015 State title game and ending the streak. That's just my 10 cents

Hmm yea makes sense. I can see that.

I don't see it that way though.
2012 was a title game. Greenwood wins and got their third in a row.
2015 was a title game. Pin Bluff wins and got their second in a row.
That's one title game win for each team. They don't get any bigger than that.

The semis are the same. One semi game is not any bigger than the other. Whether Greenwood was on a 50 game win streak or a 5 game win streak, Pine Bluff still won. The streak ending was definitely a huge bonus for the Zebras. But the streak had no effect on the winner of that game goes to war memorial.
If you do want to make the argument that that semifinal had more importance to it because of the streak, you can also make the argument the semifinal game last year was more important than usual as well. Greenwood ended Pine Bluffs chance at a 3peat.

So Greenwood has winning a 3peat and ending a 3peat.
And Pine Bluff has ending a 50 game win streak and winning a repeat.
Both resumes are pretty equal if you ask me

Those are good points. I hadn't looked at the other games they've played each other in. Definitely adds to the confusion... lol

I am thinking PB isn't intimidated at all by GW and have the athletes to keep GW on their heels. PB doesn't kick PAT's so I'm going:
PB 23
GW 21

PB forces two uncharacteristic turnovers deep in GW territory that leads to scores.  Gonna be hard to drive 80 yards on the GW defense.  PB defense is good also and will keep Woods in check.

PB looked a little intimidated tonight once they got down by a few scores. I think their youth showed a little. GW was dominant all season start to finish. A very impressive season by the dogs.

Yellowcake

I didn't see it as being intimidated as much as I just saw them get beat by a better team. Pine bluff didn't have those 3 or 4 superior players and a bunch of other good ones like they have in the past. Greenwood was just better and my goodness they were prepared. For everything.

PB will be back. Just like always. Good season.

The Future

I would venture to say Pine Bluff will be your 2019 state champs.
Foots played a great game and did well with what was given each play.

And he's a sophomore. By his senior year that kid will be special.

I know Greenwood Eldorado and others will be there to put their say so in. But Pine Bluff will reload as always next season. Good game to both teams.
