Sounds like they may be the team to beat. Hopefully they haven't peaked already
Well hopefully for them I should say :)
No doubt they should be in the mix but had the same players last year and didn't get out of regional. However, they do play in a tough region.

Good on both sides of the ball with several talented players. Ability to run 5 in and 5 out most of the time and it runs the opposing teams players out of juice.

Very experienced team with two four year starters and another three year starter. They apply a lot of pressure and are an excellent shooting team both from the 3 point line and the free throw line. If you play them a zone, you do so at your own risk. Most girls teams around here play zone so there have been lots of blowouts.

It's an impressive way to win the way they are, I figured they were pressing everyone to death by the scores.

He must've had a bad moment, all coaches do. He is a good man and a good coach. He also had a lot to do with the success of the Ola girls teams in the past. Sure There were a few emotions. Seems like I remember a couple of girls defecting from dardy to 2 rivers in recent years. Sure it all adds up

2 quality wins for R'side this weekend. Batesville seemed to outsize the lady rebels but they did not have an answer for the outside shot. Batesville has 6 or 7 that can play compared to riverside's 10. Both teams are very good.
Box, Ive read your post for the past two days and i beliveve you need to give all the lady rebels credit .I can tell all you see in a game who is high point. How about Whitney Wagganer she held a D1 signee to zero points and playing with a possible concussion, how about Hailey Carr with her rebounding, what about Briley Douglas with her high energy off the bench, what about Hoffman off the bench?? Roberstson had a good 4th quarter, but it took all 15 players to win that game and the one against neelyville. WAKE UP BUDDY
Choke, I will say this. It was hard for batesville to defend the three, But what about the lay ups and put backs by Smith, Douglas, Carr, and Grace Ann. Them 4 ladies played hard and tough in the post where they were a little undersized. Lets give them some credit. Ill tell u like i told Box, it took all 15 girls to win those two games. The subs and the ladies that didnt get in this weekend put in the same work as starters. It takes everyone. I hope they keep it up and bring a state title to Riverside.

Well said Chickasaw. A lot of players on several different teams are overlooked because the only thing people see are the points that are scored.( so much more that goes on in a game) To add to the ones you mentioned Sain made the Hustle plays when a ball was loose on the floor. Milligan took several points off the board by taking charges. Waggoner going 100 mph the whole time on defense. It takes the whole team to lock in and do what they have been doing from the seniors all the way to the sophomores on the team. If they stick with the formula that they have going on now this team could do some big things.
Great job to the Lady Rebels on 2 hard fought wins. It was nice to see all of you Ladies be challenged on the floor and rise to the occasion and pull out the W.
Riverside girls are firing on all cylinders. The Batesville team they beat last night is a dang good 5A team. If you don't think Spencer Hoffman can teach the game & coach, you really show your lack of knowledge. JMO

The real thing that needs to be addressed is why a girl is playing with a possible concussion. Not only is that dangerous, it's wrong. Even if it's mild, there is still a lot of danger in competing
I agree. Letting a girl play with a possible concussion is pretty dang stupid!
Riverside looked solid , they all played extreamly hard, the guards do a great job of pushing the ball and finding open shooters who spot up beyond the arc. The guards are what makes this team go , the shooters wouldn't get so many open shots if the guards didn't Work their tails off and create turnovers or loose balls.
The chemistry with the players is exceptional
The chemistry with the parents is not, and that's the only thing I see from them getting a state championship

Never did I single out anyone. Notice I said "compared to Riverside's 10" meaning the 10 players that had minutes. Also not to mention me addressing that they were "outsized"
I spoke with Wagganer's dad. She did not have a concussion. They done a few test on her with following the pencil with eyes and such. She had a knot on the back of head where she banged it against the floor. Good luck to the Lady Rebels. All 15 of them.

Dang, a little touchy huh? Box was just giving a quick rundown of the game! Not a play by play recap or box score. The Robertson girl was clearly clutch in that game and that's what he pointed out. I'm sure if your daughter was the one who was clutch he would've said so just as quick! He wasn't slighting any other players by calling her name, it was well deserved! Everyone knows it takes a whole team to accomplish the goal they want to achieve BUT anyone with half a basketball IQ also knows that some players actually are more valuable than others! Just the facts. Also, tell me more about this D1 player Batesville had? I wasn't aware of that. And since now we all know it's a team game, did Waggoner guard her all night without coming out of the game since she was the only one who held her to 0?

Hitman, you are obviously correct in your observations. I figure since you are the parent of an outstanding player, you are aware that a little jealousy can creep in on a good team. By the way, how is your daughter progressing with her injury. Saw her play in state last year and she is a great little player!

She has really came along very good, will be released by Dr Tucker this Tuesday the 12th he extended her PT by 6 weeks with a more basketball type of protocol due to knowing we weren't in a hurry to get her playing right now. Lamar is 8&2 without her Sophomore year no need to rush she will be back soon. Been in the gym more then ever her handle is better then ever her shot is better, just getting her speed back and up is the biggest challenge but she is working on it. Thanks for the kind words and asking.

That would definitely be the one I watched. She was about as impressive as they come. Usually when you see someone that dominate at that age they have a physical advantage on kids their age, but if anything she's small for age she just had such superior skill set on everyone that it wasn't comparable. I look forward to seeing her as she gets older.

Quality win for the lions tonight. Rivercrest just doesn't have the same basketball IQ that Manila has. Once Manila went on a run late in the 2nd half it was over. I'm not one to say things like this but the way Rivercrest played showed terrible class. Some of that has to do with the staff. I feel that allowing your players to act like that is unacceptable.

I remember that. I remember seeing a fella running barefooted. Well good luck to you and her. Love seeing talent no matter the school.

Then what school do you follow?
I try to follow all of the good teams in this area since my alma mater has fallen off. Not a bandwagon fan, I just love good basketball.

The same can be said about Manila IQ in football. It's funny how you get on here trying to down Rcrest basketball, Question for you Mr IQ man and this should be really easy for you. How the players handle themselves on and off the court. Discipline. The players represent the whole school. I wouldn't have wanted my school to be represented that way if I was the coach or even a fan.

Osceola shot the ball very well last night. Rivercrest will be fine once that get their basketball legs up under them. With 1 practice and 1 game they get Manila and Osceola on a Friday and Monday and only trail them by 4 points going into the 4th Quarter.

After the buzzer clearly. Blew it. NEA title taken away from riverside. But ball shouldn’t have made it down there in the first place. Great ballgame both ways. And coach Hoffman was yelling back as soon as the free throw went in so can’t blame him. All I’m saying
It should have counted...saw a video where it's obvious the person running the clock started the clock before the girl touched the ball and ran 0.3 off the clock leaving 0.3 for her to shoot instead of the 0.6 that it was supposed to be. Think maybe the refs knew that there was time ran off the clock before the girl touched the ball and that's the reason they counted it.

This is correct. The right team won. Rebels should have had all four players defending the basket. You can see on the channel 8 video. We are celebrating a little early and they threw it over our head to there fastest player. Great call by the Bay coach. It was his only possible chance.

Nice sportsmanship Redwolf it should've been .06 on the clock which most fans didn't know but the refs did. The right call was made and Rebels failure to get back caused them.
Congrats Bay.
Riverside is my team and even I agree that it got called right. Just don't understand why you don't pull all but one girl to guard the ball , and leave the other 3 back while the girl shoots free throws. If she misses, then oh well you can't get a rebound with 0.6 and throw a full court shot up.

Well I stated I wasn't there , but my sources are from a Brookland parent and a player that was , so unlike our wonderful Fake news organizations who will print anything without a source if it fits their agenda, or to highest bidder ,I like to hear from both sides that where there . I have no agenda , I have attended many games at Rivercrest without any problems, so tell me , and I assume you where there , which part of what I was told was incorrect? The yelling family or crowd ? Them being escorted out? All the Brookland fans and players leaving together?
Or what happened in general ?
You can PM if you want, thanks Lux

Why p. M you in private, when you post a lie in public unto a public form. Next time you can P.M me to check to see if something you have heard about Rivercrest is true or not. If it's the Lord's will, I will be at all my son's games this year. And if something like that happens, which by the way have happen at Rivercrest, I have no problem saying it or people saying or posting it. Lies are what I have a problem with.
Which part all of it? Every statement you made reference to was a lie. No one was escorted from the gym. The coach's dad was remove from under the basket against the wall were he stand during the games( did it while his son played at Manila) to the hall for yelling at the ref., but your source failed to mention that part. I wonder why?
Why would Brookland's fans/players need escort out the building when most of Rivercresr fan' left the gym durning the last two minutes of the 4th quarter. That included the "whole family" and Osceola's assistant coach who walked out behind them that is not related to the "whole family".
It's funny that the Brookland fan/parents needed escort when the refs who the fans were yelling at stayed around after the game and left the building without escorts. Me and the red hair ref talked for a few minutes after he got dress. . We talked and laughter about how he tried to get me thrown out the gym for standing up and clapping at Corning in 2013? The tall black hair ref sat in the bleachers and waited on and leftist with a brookland player after he got dress.
I know all this because my sons is usually the last one out the dressing room (just slow) which means my family is usually the last one to leave the gym.

So first of all I would like to thank Lux for explaining what did happened , second I have no ill will toward Rivercrest or their fans. Third at the time I posted , it didn't occur to me to pm Lux. And ask him. Best of luck to the Colts , we will have our hands full with Osceola tonight.

The played better in spots last night. I think the 4 games in 4 night caught up with them in the 3rd quarter, Crest got down 20+. Rivercrest had a couple of chances to cut the lead down the single digit early in the 4th, but look to run out of gas. Rivercrest guards has to finish better when attack the basket, and team will have to figure out what their defensive strength and stick to it. We are all over the floor on defense. We are in scramble mode from the time the other team get the ball and it ends up we our defense giving up a opening 3, or lay up or fouling. Teams are in the double bonus beginning of the 2nd quarter. Have to fix it fast. Oh, D.B is beginning to round into basketball shape and finger is just about healed. He looked good last night.

Tucked an is the best 3a team I have seen this year. I hadn't seen but the other 3 teams in our conference😀. Rivercrest usually have our legs up under them after the Holiday break, but not playing in a tournament during the Christmas break look like it set them back. This week 5 games in 5 nights will help them if it doesn't kill them. Hopefully they will get it together before district tournament starts.

Truman shot lights out and hit 10 threes on the night. Most of them contested. They are very athletic and played really hard. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team. Truman deserved to win. Bulldogs just couldn't get over the hump. Now let's get back to conference on Tuesday.

Riverside is my team and even I agree that it got called right. Just don't understand why you don't pull all but one girl to guard the ball , and leave the other 3 back while the girl shoots free throws. If she misses, then oh well you can't get a rebound with 0.6 and throw a full court shot up.
It was an inbound toss after a made free throw ???

Seems like almost every bb season a couple of teams from the South have impressive records going in to the post season. I remember about 3 years ago a 4th seed RiverCrest bounced 1seed and undefeated McGehee in the first round of the state tourney by double digits. My point is Are these two teams legit and able to compete with a team from the north like Osceola. Are they contenders or pretenders???? Somebody from south ark chime in on this. Where you at oldman or Drew Central posters.

Make it to State and win a game or two sure. Win State? I don't see it. McGehee missed 20 points worth of free throws and layups. You can't do that and go far. Only the 2nd time I've watched them.

I'm biased, but Drew Central could turn heads at state. I wasn't there last night, but got updates from family. I saw them play at the Pea Ridge tournament early December and they were spot on. While I was home for the holidays they had their ups and downs. Like oldman said about McGehee, DC can struggle from the line at times and miss layups too because they put it up too strong. Get that under control and who knows what could happen.

I was told Mcgehee beat Juction City by around 20 last night.
Granted the combined conference the Lady Rebels play in is weak but they make a lot of these teams look weaker than they really are. Got Brookland on the road next week which will be a test.

low scoring......Brookland stall?
Brookland was patient on offense and played good defense. Led 25-18 at half.
Osceola had. 5 pt lead with 3min left in the game, kept a 1pt lead until Strode nailed 3 from the top of the key.with 9.2 sec , Osceola missed a 3 off an inbounds play under their basket with 1.1 sec left.
Big win for Brookland and a tough loss for a very talented Noles team.
Lamar girls play maybe their worst game in a while, gotta get better at rebounding for sure, they beat a determined Clinton team 50 -35.

Someone had me thinking that Osceola was going to run Brookland off the court. I saw both teams in the NEA TOURNAMENT this year. I was really impressed with the bearcats. Good Luck to both teams as they prepare for post season play!

What the heck has happened to Manila! Two straight losses to teams with losing records.
Saw the game on Facebook and they looked awful!! Not sure what's up right now but it looked like BIC definitely dictated the pace and Manila can't win in my opinion when they have to play slow down ball. I can see letting Rivercrest slip up and beat you but not BIC!! They are low tier 2A and haven't won many games all year.

Willing DC can gather themselves before the Junction rematches. Since the whole 8-3A is in the same blended they just go by the conference record rather than blended record for conference seeds if I'm not mistaken. Tonight would give McGehee the 1 seed for the tiebreaker.

They figured out how to beat us that's for sure. Coach Pace knows what he's doing with those guys. Hoping for a fourth matchup in the Regional final though. DC has shown they can beat them once, just gotta find that edge again. Definitely hoping that both can show out the next two weeks.
