3A looks like it will be pretty tough to figure out.... Some schools are going to get screwed no matter which way they do it. I wouldn't want to be the one figuring that class out. And don't they usually release the football conferences just a matter of weeks later after these numbers are released?

Seems like it's right after the school year

Wow Rison will be 3A and Fordyce will be 2A. That's the first time in that rivalries history that Rison will be the bigger school unless I am mistaken

Thank you HF!

If someone like proud buck doesn't beat me to it I'll throw out a guesstimate at the lower classes anyway...

Awesome, I have a good hunch how 2A and 4A will go but the high turnover in 3A leads to a few quagmires and possibilities. Yellville Summitt and Green Forest out of 3A makes the 1-3A/4-3A even tougher to make a good way if that is even possible.

Jotted down 2a into "traditional" conference's.....and Gurdon naturally fits the 7...Fordyce to the 8...Marianna to the 6....The question is going to be what will they do with yellville? They aren't a natural fit for any of the conference's they've used for the last few years....

Conferences will be released in June during Board of Directors workshop. Appeals are sent to AAA during the summer and AAA Board hears them in the fall. Conferences are finalized by end September or early October depending on the amount of appeals are heard and are successful.

If the rumors about a possible Class 6A-5A merger for the 2018-20 cycle, then that could push the release into October with later appeals.

At least 7A will see no change. Stability in 7A. Believe me, a lot of schools in 7A are happy with stability.

If only the other classifications were given the same benefit...

Not really given by anyone though. I mean it's a numbers game and once you get bigger numbers, it's not a difference of a couple dozen students that moves teams down a classification, it's a matter of a couple hundred of students.

I messed around with a map this morning.  Forgot about traditional conferences and started from scratch.  My fix for Yellville blew up the traditional leagues in the east.  I'm sure there's a better way to do it, but here's what I settled on.

NW: Decatur, Mountainburg, Lavaca, Hackett, JCW, Magazine, WYC, Hector
NC: Yellville, Quitman, Conway Christian, Bigelow, Augusta, McCrory, Midland, Salem
NE: Rector, EPC, MT, Cross County, Earle, Brinkley, Marianna, Marvell
C: Des Arc, Clarendon, Hazen, Carlisle, England, Poyen, CMS, Magnet Cove
SW: Mt Ida, Mtn Pine, Dierks, Murfreesboro, Gurdon, Mineral Springs, Foreman, Spring Hill
SC: Lafayette, Parkers Chapel, Strong, Hermitage, Hampton, Bearden, Fordyce, Woodlawn

Swap Poyen, CMS and MC for Brinkley , Marianna and Marvel and you got a deal.

A little off topic, but I was having a discussion on Facebook about the classifications in 1972.  Only five classifications then: AAAA, AAA, AA, A, B.

One post was a newspaper clipping showing the AP Top 10 after Week 9.  (Stuttgart was #1.)

What grabbed me was the seven schools that received votes in Class AA....

Stuttgart, Rogers, Morrilton, Cabot, Conway, HS Lakeside, and McGehee.

How many different directions these schools have gone.

I know, right? And when's the last time we played Dollarway? Looks like we may be butting heads with them again, either in conference or in the playoffs.
