I didn't realize this was her. That's awesome. Hope to see good times from her today.

To qualify for the NCAA Indoor National Championships as an individual/relay, your best bet is to be in the top 16 based off performances throughout the season. You could get in if you are outside the top 16 (for instance, let's say an 800 guy runs a 400 at a meet just for strength training and runs one of the top 16 times in the nation, if he scratches because he wants to run the 800 only at the national championships, then number 17 would take his place and so on).

Because of this, I will update any Arkansas athlete in the top 50 of their respective events. Remember that this is very, very early in the indoor season and it doesn't mean a whole lot where they sit right now, but it's a good starting point.

Good to see the Herman kid doing good up on the hill isn't she a true freshman and what happened to the young lady from Monticello isn't she up there or did she red shirt

Herman is actually a redshirt freshmen.

If you are referring to Sara Claycomb, she is on the roster. Tough to tell this early in the season if an athlete is redshirting or just didn't participate in the first meet.

Day one is finished and the above posts reflect day 1 results. For the Razorbacks the biggest performances were the pole vaulters for the ladies, the pentathletes for the ladies, and Jarrion Lawson (long jump) and Kenzo Cotton (200 meter dash) for the men.

I've updated replies #16 and #17 in this post to reflect the results of the meet.

The Razorbacks won both the team races! The men made a huge run at the end of the day to catch A&M and pass them.

I feel better about our men having a good showing at the NCAAs then I did before. It seems we have a lot of chances to score.

The women are going to have a tough time against Oregon, but they'll definitely have a shot. We need some distance girls to step up, because we are really green there right now.

AT

As said before, for an individual to qualify for the NCAAs, they need to be in the top 16 in their respective event based off performances from this year. Or they at least need to be close to that in case of scratches.

Here's the Razorback athletes who are in the top 50 in their events:

How the men and women stack up nationally. Remember, you want to be top 16 as an individual to make nationals (if you are in top 16, you are guaranteed a spot if you want it. If you aren't in top 16, you have to hope other athletes scratch out of that event) and you have to be top 12 for a relay.

I will have my thoughts on their chances at making nationals in parentheses

MEN

60 meter dash
6. Jarrion Lawson (He'll be at nationals)
10. Kenzo Cotton (He'll be at nationals unless he wants to focus on the 200, but I doubt that's the case)
44. Marqueze Washington (He won't make nationals in this event and they didn't expect him to)

200 meter dash
9. Kenzo Cotton (He'll be at nationals)
30. Roy Ejakuekwu (Not looking like he'll be there unless he has a big PR at the SEC meet)
36. Obi Igbokwe (He won't be there and they don't want him to be there for this event)

400 meter dash
1. Marqueze Washington (He will definitely be at nationals)
15. Obi Igbokwe (Right now he's in, but conference championship weekend might push him down some. I'll feel safer if he ran another PR this weekend and pushed himself up a couple of spots. He has a solid chance of making it)
23. Jamarco Stephen (It's definitely not impossible. He needs a PR at the SEC meet and maybe a couple of scratches ahead of him. This wasn't expected, so it'd be gravy if he made it)

800 meter run
9. Carlton Orange (He should make it)
20. Ryan Thomas (Obviously not in right now. He needs a PR at the SEC meet but it's hard to do that in the 800 where the 800 is more of a tactical race. He might need to hope for some scratches)
48. Andrew Pisechko (He needs a big PR at the SEC meet.)

3000 meter run
22. Alex George (This guy is a competitor and if we could get him into nationals, I think that would be great but he's out as of now. He needs someone pushing him to a PR at the SEC meet or he needs scratches)

5000 meter run
10. Gabe Gonzales (He should be at nationals)

60 meter hurdles
23. Davon Anderson (He needs a PR at the SEC meet in my opinion. I don't think he can hope for that many scratches in a specialized event.)
44. Kemar Mowatt (I don't see him making it unless he comes out of nowhere with a big PR at the SECs)

4 x 400 meter relay
4. Arkansas (This relay team will be there)

Distance Medley Relay
24. Arkansas (Ok, this is really the only disappointment for the Razorbacks this season. We did not do good at the Notre Dame meet this past weekend in this event and we really could use this team. I don't see how they get in unless they PR at the SEC meet and put themselves inside the top 12. But they need to PR by about 6 seconds because relay teams do not scratch)

High Jump
8. Ken LeGassey (He'll be at nationals)

Long Jump
1. Jarrion Lawson (I'm going to go out on a limb and say he'll be at nationals)
30. Kurt Jenner (Needs a big PR at SECs to make it)
35. Andreas Trajkovski (Same as Kurt)

Triple Jump
4. Clive Pullen (He'll be at nationals)

Heptathlon
38. Derek Jacobus (Would need a big performance at SECs to have a chance. You have to be top 16 here. Decathletes do not scratch unless injured)

AT

WOMEN

200 meter dash
3. Taylor Ellis-Watson - (She'll be at nationals)
32. Payton Stumbuagh - (She won't make it, but they don't want her to make nationals in this event)

400 meter dash
2. Taylor Ellis-Watson - (She'll be at nationals)
15. Daina Harper - (Much like Obi in the men, I'd feel a lot better if she PR'd at the SECs. She's in right now, but conference championship weekend could push her down without her PRing)
24. Payton Stumbuagh (Honestly, she probably could qualify for nationals in this event, but they don't want her to)

1 mile run
22. Nikki Hiltz - (I don't know if she can hope for that many scratches or not. It doesn't seem likely. I think she needs to PR at the SEC meet, which is hard to do in the mile.)
31. Jessica Kamilos (Same as Nikki)
41. Therese Haiss (Same as Nikki and Jessica)

3000 meter run
14. Jessica Kamilos - (Although she is just barely in and could be pushed out this weekend, you don't usually see very many PRs in the 3K at conference championships. I think she should be in, but it's not a guarantee)

5000 meter run
37. Valerie Reina - (Needs a big PR at the SECs to make it)
43. Regan Ward - (Same as Valerie)

60 meter hurdles
11. Payton Stumbaugh - (I think Payton will come back from the pentathlon and run this event at nationals)
12. Taliyah Brooks - (I think the same about Taliyah, but she is on the verge (she's actually tied for 12th with 4 other ladies, so it'd be nice if she PR'd)
49. Kelsey Herman - (She won't make nationals in this event, which is fine)

4 x 400 meter relay
4. Arkansas - (This relay team is in)

Distance Medley Relay
11. Arkansas - (This relay team SHOULD be in)

High Jump
36. Taliyah Brooks - (She won't make nationals in this event)

Pole Vault
1. Alexis Weeks - (She'll definitely be there)
5. Victoria Weeks - (She'll join her twin)
28. Megan Zimlich - (It'd be nice if she had a big PR at qualified, but it's going to be difficult)
33. Ariel Voskamp - (The only disappointment this year for the Lady Razorbacks. I'm not sure if she's been injured or what but she's been at nationals before and this is her senior year. She needs a big PR at SECs)

Long Jump
13. Taliyah Brooks - (I'll be interested in seeing if Coach Harter wants her to try this event at nationals or not. I think she'll be qualified)

Pentathlon
3. Taliyah Brooks (She'll be at nationals)
8. Alex Gochenour (She'll be at nationals)
10. Payton Stumbuagh (She'll be at nationals)
12. Leigha Brown (She'll be at nationals unless there's a crazy weekend of pentathletes)
27. Kelsey Herman (She really needs a big PR to make it...it's not impossible)

21. Daina Harper - 52.69 - Daina sadly will need 5 scratches to make it. She even ran a PR at SECs.
