"our local soccer clubs are failing our kids"?  Come on man.  Local clubs aren't there to churn out Messis any more than the local Little League team is there to produce the next Albert Pujols.  If parents don't realize that, it's not the club's failing.

Clubs do a fine job introducing kids to the game at the rec level, but the classic level is another story. They have no plan, no curriculum, and no support system in place for coaches. Do I expect them to create multiple Messi's, of course not, but I would like to see a development plan. Parents invest a lot of money and they deserve better, especially the kids willing to do the work.
