Ashdown classification

Does anyone know why Ashdown played in 4A in Football this season but was in 3A for Baskeball?

several schools in this situation.  Ft Lake is the same way for sure.  It is because in every sport but football 1 classification was dropped.  Smaller 4a schools were moved down, just as smaller 5a schools were dropped down to 4a (Magnolia).  Football was not done because of the power of NWA and those schools refusing to do it.

it was proposal 9 in 2017

Proposal #9 - Classification of Schools
To change the number of classifications from seven to six in the sports of Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Golf, Track and Field.
6A – 16 largest schools by ADM
5A – The next largest 32 schools by ADM
4A – largest 48 schools by ADM
3A/2A/1A - Take remaining schools and divide by three with the greatest number of schools assigned to Class 1A if not divisible by 3.

It's serval schools that's doing this, blytheville is one. They are 5A in football 4A in basketball

Basically the bottom sixteen 5A football schools were shunted to 4A for other sports. Here's the list:

That and their isn't a 1a class in football...
