2A football is more like 6A football than college  football is.

2A = peewee football. 11 to 20 players on some teams. have 9 during off-season can't play in the fall. Seems to be a school every year that can't field a team because of numbers. please tell me again how 2A is like 6A again. 6A you don't see schools having a number problem. I think some of the chemical plants in Union County has melting most of yalls brain cells.

2019 Fall, you all will see the results of how the program will fail after this hire of Joke Jones.

What has Reed been doing? Reed is a proven head coach. Jones isn't.

Do you remember the head coach that took Strong to the championship game and won it that year? Do you also remember Coach King that was at PC.
People were very high on those two coaches. These are the same people that are high on Jones. let that sink in for a moment. Some coaches aren't made to be head coaches in a bigger class.

Dragon I

This is a very weird melt.  No one here is arguing he will be great.  We've all said it would be a wait and see approach.  We've all said they had more qualified candidates.  Why are you on a 2A board cluttering up an otherwise good thread for people wanting actual information about JC.  You're melting over a coach that we all agree very well might not be ready.  He also may shock you.  Who knows?

Where is the coach from Strong at? wasn't his name like Shane Davis or something like that? Where is he now?

King just took a job over at a rundown Magnolia program. Why leave 2A Foreman for a run down program like Magnola who hasn't won more than 9 games since 2005?

This is going to be Jones in few years. Taking over a program that he has no business to be over.

Davis is teaching math at a 5A charter school in Georgia and I don't think he's currently involved in coaching.

King and Jones are climbing the coaching ladder.

Now will they maybe also choose a different career path at some time or will they maybe end up something like this:

Coaching career (HC unless noted)

1991
Hughes (AR) HS (DC)

1992–1995
Hughes (AR) HS

1996–2000
Shiloh Christian HS

2001–2005
Springdale (AR) HS

2006
Arkansas (OC/WR)

2007–2008
Tulsa (AHC/Co-OC/QB)

2009–2011
Auburn (OC/QB)

2012
Arkansas State

2013–Present
Auburn

Who knows? Time will tell.

Waldron hired Davis because they couldn't get do any worse from a W-L standpoint and they gave a guy a chance.  (I think Waldron had the longest losing streak in Arkansas when Davis took that job.)

I haven't cared much for King after him throwing his PC QB under the bus in an EDNT article after a Norphlet loss.

I could not care less about EHS, but Jones is a former Dragon and I wish him well.

And like D-1 posted, this is a JC thread.   Please go rant and clutter up the 6A board.  You've already gotten the El Dorado Coaching Search thread there locked.

WHITEchicken

BD I have the best bait. I wish Jones well. I also wish Smith well.

Wilson

Davis's last gig was as OC and receivers coach at a 5A school in the metro Atlanta area. . .and was doing pretty well. . .he got out of coaching to spend more time with his family. . .I can relate to that. . .I know just how much time is involved to coach football. . .a lot of folks have no real clue how much time away from your family it takes up. . .and that's at a small school. . .at a 5A school. ..especially one that's successful  . . .it's ridiculous

Kinda like I did on the 3A board about our scrimmage with Hampton and someone chimed in with something snide and negative to say.  Gotta scrimmage someone.....Razorbacks & Cowboys weren't interested so what are the coaches to do?

Look forward to seeing you guys one week from tonight.  Safe travels, Dad.

Was not snide or negative, just responding to "KNOCKED OFF"
. kinda gives the conditation of a "great feat kinda thing".
Out scored, bested ect., would have been proper for that scrimmage

I didn't mean yours, Bart.  The reply to my post on the 3A scrimmage board was the one I was talking about.  I hope Coach Horstkamp finds someone else to scrimmage now that this home/away series is over with Hampton.  Not sure who he used to scrimmage when he was at Bearden.  CHG always scrimmaged with Junction, but now it has turned into a real game with them.  Either way, the scrimmages are all over and it's almost gametime!  See your Bears in two weeks.

Thanks, Bleu Dawgy Dawg.

Some in here are too serious about wins and losses. It matters, but, few teams go far in the playoffs. My team won the state championship my sophomore and senior years. That's nice, but, I don't even remember the teams we played in the finals.  I do remember the lasting friendships made.
