Saw it last weekend and I have to say, they are doing an amazing job giving references to the books and the other movies currently creating the Daniel Craig James Bond Universe!

Movie references back to all the prior films, so I recommend at the minimum watching Skyfall before heading to the theater. You'll get a lot more out of the experience!

Really just thought this movie was OK. Some spoilers. But this movie is long, a lot of movie convienience happens in it. And the bad guy played by an amazing actor, Christoph Waltz, is completely wasted. he does zero in the movie and the only danger to anyone but the double 00 program is that they are going to have their security information. James bond falls in love, are you serious. Aside from a few action sequences and being well filmed the story is boring and the movie drags out and then ends like a dud.

Movie had potential but it never really came together for me.

So, you're saying two thumbs down??

Its a red box rent em. Not worth going to the movies to see, though I did, not worth buying, unless you are collecting Bond movies. Rent it so you dont feel cheated out of nine bucks, or $19 when it comes out on DVD.

Since when is James Bond an assassin, they call him that quite a few times in the movie.

This was supposedly Craigs last movie and you could tell they were just wanting to get it over with. IMO worst Bond movie since the Timothy Dalton movies.

I could pick this thing apart all day long.

Wow, I haven't been yet, but one of my kids had and he liked it. I hated Dalton and Brosnan, and had really liked Craig as a Bond, I'll probably catch it on a matinee if I go.

bdubyab60

One of my sons friends liked it. But I guess I like the older ones. This one was just ok to me. maybe I was expecting to much.

Okay, I am like a serious Bond nerd. So y'all are saying don't go watch it?

Breitontime

I've been a Bond nerd since I was little. I liked it. It was solid.

bdubyab60

Im a Bond fan myself. I thought it was just ok. Others may like it. I have a friend who saw it as well and didnt like it that much either.

This will be the only time I see it unless it is on cable tv.

There is a guy on youtube called jeremy jahns that does movie reviews. He does them without spoilers so you can get a good idea of a movie without ruining it and does a pretty fair job of getting them right IMO. He ranks them from

As for Bond falling in love; Casino Royale, pretty much considered by everyone to be top 2-3 in Bond movies.

Being an assassin? That's pretty much the premise of the series. He's a secret agent with a license to kill.

Doesn't he murk people in every single film?

What they've done with the last few, unlike any of the others, is humanize Bond. Show the toll that living that life takes on him. Not so much let me throw Knick Knack in a suitcase and out of the train and make a joke about it.

Personally, I like it.

I get what you're saying. I think people are comparing it too much to the other films. Connery was the cold-hearted guy who spouted one-liners when he killed bad guys. Moore was the international playboy. Every Bond represents a different aspect of the Bond from the novels. But he has never been shown to have that emotion like regular people. When I saw Quantum of Solace, I was mad because it wasn't like a classic Bond movie. No gadgets, one-liners, girls with suggestive names. But it's still one of my favorites because he is more relatable. As far as this new one goes, I think it will be good. Sam Mendes is a great director and I expect a great movie

Bond is a lover of women, he doesnt fall in love. Especially after only 5 minutes of screen time or less? Opening of movie bond with woman, middle of movie bond with different woman(this one ususally affilaited with the bad guys or some other spy organization) and the end of the movie with a different woman.

Liscensed to kill, yes. Straight up just running around sniping people, no.

I understand the wanting to humanize him, I actually like that aspect of the movies.

Way to much movie convenience in this movie.

Ill let you guy see it and Ill post what I didnt like about it later if I remember to.

Its not horrible but its not at the top of the list either.

Skyfall was way better but I didnt like how it ended either.

It is worth watching in a theater, but a matinee certainly makes sense.  I too am of the opinion that Craig is the best bond since Connery - and the others who have played Bond since Connery aren't even close.  The story line of Spectre could have used some more thought though IMO (I don't want to say much more for now and run the risk of spoiling the movie for others).

bdubyab60

Just to finish this off of why I was so hard on this movie.

The bad guy does pretty much nothing. We are killing people to get information so that we know when we are being tracked. the bad guy sare pretty much already ahead of everyone in the film and if they dont try to go any further with their plot they are probably never found.

The stinking mouse in the room. If it doesnt show up, where does this movie go, thats right the movie is over. Really convenient mouse.

Bond falls in love after 3-5 minutes of screen time. At least in Casino Royale he with with the woman for over half the movie.

Bond shoots down helicopter with smaller caliber, shorter barrelled pistol. Would have been better if he had just shot at it with his gun.

Speed boat keeps up with helicopter that left before they coul d have even been close to that boat.

Cops have barricaded bridge off before bond arrives to top of bridge even though bond was close to the bridge already.

After Roger Moore passed away, I decided I would do my personal ranking of all 24 Bond films produced by Eon Productions (not including Never Say Never Again and the original Casino Royale)

24. The Living Daylights (1987) - I despise the people who made the choice to cast Timothy Dalton
23. Moonraker (1979) - Roger Moore in space? Terrible plot
22. License to Kill (1989) - Just better than Dalton's first go as Bond
21. The World is Not Enough (1999) - Who casts Denise Richards as a scientist?
20. A View to Kill (1985) - A horse racing scam leads to a worldwide conspiracy. Not my jam
19. Octopussy (1983) - Nothing special
18. Die Another Day (2002) - Brosnan is good but I didn't dig Halle Barry for the role
17. The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) - I just can't get into some of the Moore films
16. Live and Let Die (1973) - Moore is good, music is good, but I don't like the bad guys in this film
15. Diamonds are Forever (1971) - Connery at his worst is still a very enjoyable but overly campy movie
14. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) - Brosnan's movies always fell just short of being really good
13. Spectre (2015) - Pretty good, but the freaking mouse is way too convenient
12. Thunderball (1965) - not Connery's best, but every thing about this film is good
11. You Only Live Twice (1967) - The production of this movie is some of the best in the series
10. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969) - Maybe the best if Connery was in it. Still a dang good film
9. Quantum of Solace (2008) - probably a better movie if it wasn't a Bond film. Just so different from everything else in the series
8. Skyfall (2012) - They killed Judi Dench!?! Still a good movie. I liked Javier Bardem and Naomie Harris
7. Goldfinger (1964) - probably the best villian in the series. Connery is "pure gold" in this role. We also get one of the greatest one liners after Bond electrocutes an assassin, "shocking. Positively shocking."
6. For Your Eyes Only (1981) - Roger Moore is superb in this outing
5. From Russia with Love (1963) - probably my favorite Bond movie.
4. The Spy who Loved Me (1977) - Moore goes down like a cool drink of water. More debonair playboy than international superspy. How can you not love this movie?
3. Dr. No (1962) - the film that started it all. Connery is the perfect James Bond. No one comes close. Whoever wrote the scripts deserves an award for best innuendo of all time
2. Goldeneye (1995) - The first Bond movie I ever watched. Launched my love for the character and still stands among the giants
1. Casino Royale (2006) - it comes as no surprise that Martin Campbell directs both of the top 2 on my list. Guy knows what he's doing. Craig is phenomenal in the role. Mads Mikkelson is great as Le Chiffre. Action is great, script is great, production is great. Not my favorite, but a great movie nonetheless

I am big James Bond fan as well never cared for Dalton. I would rank the actors that have played Bond:

5. Timothy Dalton

4. Pierce Brosnan

3. Roger Moore

2. Daniel Craig

1. Sean Connery
