Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't heard that.  I'd guess he'd be in his 90s though.  Olympic medal winner in the late 40s.  I think his was one of only two football numbers the Razorbacks have retired.

Jim Thorpe, Jesse Owens, and Roger Bannister were the big names from the distant past when I was going thru school.   Bob Hayes, Bob Beamon, and Al Oerter were also legends by then.   I came in when Bruce Jenner, Steve Prefontaine, and Edwin Moses were the big names.   Bannister was one of the true legends.  Transcended time.
