Here we go again...!
My expectations:
Title Contenders: Ozark, Pottsville
On the Fence: Booneville, Dardanelle
Playing Spoiler: Dover, Waldron
Looking to Surprise: Subiaco, West Fork
Hope for a good season for Pottsville this year. They have a scrimmage game with Clinton tonight @ Pottsville. I have a dog in the fight this year. My boy is in the 8th grade. From what I know they are fair on size and pretty good on speed.
I was incorrect on the size. Pottsville will be undersized on the line. They have a very explosive offence but will be lacking on the interior defensive line play. I would put them in about the third spot.
I wasn't able to catch Ozark's scrimmage against Huntsville (I was chasing shadows in KY), but these players have had a solid track record so far. How they've adjusted from the I-Wing to the shotgun will be a factor.
Harvey's threatening to make things a bit wet for Week 1. Let's see how that goes.

Pottsville looked pretty good with the fist group. All but 6 points by FL were scored late after the starters were out of the game. I think it was 32 - 6 at half.

The Pottsville vs Vilonia game was a good one. Vilonia had a very fast defense. They contained the Pottsville running backs very well. I felt like Pottsville should have won by a couple TDs. They could run for 6 or 7 yards most every down, but tried to work in a passing game. I follow the rule if you can not stop the run. The run is all you are going to see. Great effort by both teams. It came down to a 2 point conversion that Vilonia could not convert with 54 seconds left in the game.

Big game this week Booneville @ Pottsville for the JR high boys.
Pottsville is pretty salty JR high team. It was a very close game last year. Pottsville has most of their skill players back. So what do others think?
^ I expect a good game. Rust's boy a freshmen this year or soph? Whats the line look like for pott?

Line is ok not great. Rust boy is a soph. If booneville can stop #31 they have a good chance. That's a lot easier said then done cause he's a good one.

I would agree, but they have two other backs that keep you from selling out for #31. Passing game is lacking a bit.

Hats off to Booneville JRs. They played a great game. Their running backs gashed through the Pottsville defense. Pottsville defense better learn how to stay in their gaps. Good to see smaller backs running as tough as they did. Also nice to see a JR high team converting extra point field goals.

Potts has got some studs for down the road if they progress. What was the 50 on the Jr High roster?
I think 60 including the 5 or 6 out for injuries.

We have to count 7-12 to get that many!
The 9th grade group is a tough group and only one 8th grader is getting playing time. My boy is a 8th grader. Funny thing happened. He was all exited because he made the starting kick off and punt team(his mom busted me for this). I said that is great, but you guys may not even punt all year. After 4 games they are yet to punt the ball. They do have several JV games.
Week 5 Games
Dardanelle @ Pottsville

Should be a good week for competition. Look forward to the details on Ozark @ Booneville.
I don't think Dardanelle will be able to stop Pottsville's running game, but not sure how Pottsville defense will do either. If they can sure up the defense they should take the 4 title.
Could come down to Waldron and Pottsville at the entry level.

I would not say they shut down #21 and #28. They did control any run inside the guards. That is where 21 gets the ball the most. #28 had at least 3 runs for 10 plus yards and caught two passes for first downs and one of them was 25 to 30 yards for first down on 3rd and long(15+ yards). I figure the coaches ran a few up the middle to keep the defense honest. It seemed to work because off tackle is where they made hay.
Pottsville has a good team. If they correct a few fundamental mistakes the margin would of been quite larger.
Dardanelle boys played a good game and are playing the type of football that will continue to give them success.

#28 caught 1 pass on a bubble for 10 yards and they tried 2 deep balls to him and didn't complete them, and he may have had 1 decent run of about 8-10 yards def not 3. #35 had the big long catch and run. #21 had maybe 15-20 yards total and a fumble. The QB had more yards on his 1 run. #31 was the one and Dardanelle had plenty of chances to stop him just couldn't get him down for good reason. Dardanelle had a few plays missed or the game would've been much closer, like the dropped TD pass when it was still 14-7 in the 3rd quarter. The better team ultimately won but it could've been a lot closer if not for silly mistakes by Dardanelle on a couple plays. Good game and good luck to Pottsville going forward.

I will bite. Have you noticed the tall pole just out side the end zone. It has a camera on the top of it. It records the game and then it is up loaded to a hosting site called Hudl. This is how game film is shared. You need an account and log in access to view games. You can view any game you have been access to. The coaches control who has access.

Did not know that fancy programs like that were around. Its almost as if the Coach has very good seating for the games. Reckon he could possibly be involved with your program?

You may want to watch it again. #31 had more yards on his first carry then #21 and #28 had combined total offense. #21 longest run was 4 yards and fumbled and #28 longest run was 10 yards and he caught 1 pass for 10 yards. #31 is a good one for sure. So is #35 by far the 2 best players for Pottsville. Dardanelle won the battle up front all night just couldn't tackle #31 like everyone else hasn't been able to this season.

We'll have to see how much of this carries over to varsity play, but these 9Gers have making a huge buzz since 3G. Officially, Week 9 last year (v Dardy's surging 9Gers) was the first time they ever lost a game.
As for this year, Pottsville's the only team truly capable of giving Ozark a challenge, but Dardy and Dover could sneak up on them if they're not careful.

As long as Ozark can tackle #31 from Pottsville then they will beat Pottsville. Dard had lots of chances vs Potts and couldn't tackle him. Waldron had them down 18-0 tonight at half so they had a big chance as well.
Also if you can correct the standings Dard is 4-2 overall thanks sir.

This is the best Ozark JH they've ever had. At least as long as I can remember. 08-09 team was pretty good too......This years team is almost a carbon copy of Boonevilles jr from 14-15; athletes and size all over the field. ....If they can carry this to sr high, they'll be hard to handle. I predict a couple teams will avoid them in non conference next couple cycles.
Pottsville escaped a game full of mental errors. 5 lost turnovers. A stolen ball on a kick off returned for the winning TD. Give Waldron credit for taking advantage of the situation and good coaching. It was not so much that Waldron stopped Pottsville as Pottsville stopped Pottsville.
Pottsville has many talented players, but still have work to do. They need to take control of the game and put teams away early.

Was curious how those two backs would match up. No doubt both young men are very talented and have bright futures. McBride is a much quicker athlete, and harder to bring down. Duke Thomas is an 8th grader though right?
Surprised by that West Fork/Dover score. Sure the WF boys are happy to get a "w" over someone other than Subi though.
The JH ranks won't have to worry about Shawn McBride anymore--he's officially been promoted to varsity.

No word on Pottsville/WF.
Pottsville completed the year with a perfect 10-0 season with the win over West Fork.
Not sure on final score but think it was 24 or 28 to 6 or 8.

Pottsville 28

Same time next year, folks!
Looks like Pottsville and Waldron and Ozark all had solid JR High teams, this should be exciting as they move up next year, and as Mena who had an impressive JR High team themselves moves into the conference again next season.
The Bulldogs had definitely made strides as the season progressed.
They went from being gutted by Ozark to giving Pottsville a scare to edging out Booneville to outright blanking Dardy.
On top of that, their 7G also had a strong season.
Things are looking up in Scott Co.
The Pottsville at Waldron game was one of those games that was just mind blowing. Pottsville loses 5 turn overs and some how managed to come out with a win. It took a scoop and score kick off in the final seconds. I think Pottsville fumbled the ball around 10 times. Waldron coaching just about pulled out the win. The future looks good for Waldron.
