The Train

Has anyone read this book before?  I am about half way through it, and I love it.  Just wanting to get some input; see where it ranks with everyone.

True Believer

I enjoyed it but Grisham as of late he is just producing books and not putting much "umph" into his books to me.  It was a good story that involved football.  That I like.  Reading about Italians and their customs were very interesting.  It was too pridictable for me but Rick giving it all  he had in the game was someone that I could relate to.  I love football and I love Italy so I give it a thumb's up.

I still think his best was "A Time to Kill".

Uncle Ivan

I'd like to eat at a place like Montana's.

True Believer

Me too.  It sounds like fun.   I have never met a dull Italian.

Texarkana_Piggie

i like it.  it was slow in spots, but overall, i liked it.  i also liked bleachers.

warriorsforever

I liked it too, not loved it, but liked it OK.

Thinking of ordering me a Parma Panthers cap, if they made one.

The Triangle Razorbacks. I'm still trying to figure out how to buy some of their stuff.

If you like Playing for Pizza, you might like Bleacher by John Grisham and Any Given Sunday by Karen Kingsbury....I thought bought books were pretty good.

Read it two years ago on a trip to Gulf Shores.  Really enjoyed it.  Have also read Bleachers.  Grisham has a pretty good handle on the game.

Read Playing for Pizza and Bleachers and enjoyed them both.

Not Grisham, but you might like this one:  The Long Snapper.

It has has a second chance feel to it like PFP.  More on the religious side though.

I'm reading a pretty good one right now if you like small school high school football.  It's call Our Boys.  True story about a school and its community in rural northern Kansas.

Just finshed reading Our Boys.

Good read for anybody who likes small-school/small-community football.

Wasn't familiar with the Barton run, but I get the impression anybody who was would really like the book.  The book takes the Smith Central, Kansas football team thru a season where they extend their wining streak to 67 games.

PS:  The streak ended in the championship game in '09 at 79.

I've got a copy but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Marx is the same guy who wrote The Long Snapper that I posted about earlier.
