The annual heated matchup between the Saline County schools is Thursday night in Bryant.   Who do you like in Girls and Boys?

Benton will be without there best player due to football but will still be pretty good. Just found out that Benton got a solid transfer from McClellan who will help out a lot at the point. Good ball player. Benton will have a definite size advantage down low as well.

Bryant is small and fairly athletic. They will rely heavily on a Jr and So that started a lot of games last year. Not a lot of experience after that. They supposedly had a big transfer in that will help out down low. They will score mostly with guard penetration and jump shots.

Coaching, Benton has a definite advantage. Benton should win but it will be close with Marteans out.

Benton actually has two transfers from McClellan. Both guards were starters last season. The SO guard will be playing. The SR guard is still with the football team.

Yeah, I knew about the sophomore. He's a good young player. Benton will be pretty guard heavy, but will have some size defensively with Scroggins.

Be on the lookout for the other transfer. He is special and will be a starter and leader the team needs.

I'm enjoy the fact basketball is in action while the football team is still active!   ;D  We'll be there tonight....GO BENTON!

Keep us updated with the score.

Benton Boys won 55-45.....Benton boys made like 15 straight free throws to end the game.

Benton Girls won 39-35.....Benton girls had a million turnovers and somehow still won.

Thx for the score. Any details on the game? Anyone stand out on either team?

Don't know all the names, but for Benton boys.......the Riddick kid hit 4 or 5 big threes that kept Benton in it.  Then the FTs late allowed Benton to pull away for the 10 pt. win.  #11 for Bryant had a great game scoring the ball, but Bryant overall shot it very poorly.  The game was very close with several lead changes.  It was tied 16-16 at halftime.

In the girls game......#30 for Benton (Dintleman) had a real good second half.  Benton led by 6 or 7 at halftime, then was leading by 10 or 12 late in the third before Bryant made a comeback.  This game was very ugly....lots of turnovers, lots of fouls.  They really guarded each other hard, keeping the score low.  Benton dominated the boards and should have won by a lot more had they not turned it over so much.  Bryant shot it very poorly against Benton's D.

The Riddick(?) kid can play. Which kid transferred to Bauxite? Someone mentioned that a kid from Benton moved to Bauxite over the summer. Could just be a rumor though.
