I'm not that great about the 4-4A so I gotta ask, Is Dardanelle really going to be the class of the conference? I'm used to seeing them in the playoffs but never really being all that hot.

The conference is down and lost a lot of power with the loss of Booneville.  Dardanelle brings back the most talent/most experience.

Dardanelle will be salty. This is their best offense probably since Coach Price has been there. They have a glorified fullback/linebacker playing qb. A shifty all state tailback and Parker Witt is getting looked at by the hogs. I am really looking forward to see how they do this year.

I was shocked when I read that Parker Whitt (6'2 225) returned punts. Just tells you how good of a football player he is. Kristen Thompson is a gritty playmaker that should have a big senior year.

8-4 team last year that was mostly Junior skill players and Sophomore linemen. Definitely not a given that the Lizards will win the conference, but this group has the tools to get it done if they put it all together.

Big man returning punts right there.  Kristen is a special player.  Dardanelle needs him on the field and when he is, they are very dangerous.  He did great things at PR and is doing the same at Dardanelle.  The Lizards still need to keep their eye on PR.

Parker is a great athlete.  All these messages are correct in regards to Dardanelle having alot of talent on the field.  More often than not they have alot of talent on the field.  They never can seem to find a way to make it happen though.  I am not just spewing uneducated jargon either.  This comes from many many years of watching the sand lizards play.  If this coach has what it takes as a coach then they will have a great year.

You don't see too many 225lb. return men in high school,  that will be a load coming down field if he gets it wound up!

No peel back blocks this year could make special teams pretty boring.

Good article and video on new Hamburg Coach Cossey for those that might have missed it.

^I could be wrong but going to the spread in Hamburg is not going to work. Why would you change something that isnt broke? The same thing is about to happen to Hamburg as it did to Star City in 06-07 when a new scheme was brought in by a new coach that thought he could change the world with his ideas.

Well the spread thing is working in SC now though....right?

The SC analogy is a little bit different in that Perry was a culture shock to SC weather he ran the Spread, the Veer or whatever.  That was a personality mismatch from the get go.

LJ06

They've tried the spread down there under different coaches and hasn't worked as of yet.  Best thing I've seen from them in years was that single wing last year.  Maybe they can get it to work this season.

I agree that its not necessarily the  scheme rather than the coach but coming in a drastically changing an offense is not going to be successful. You have to start that in junior high.

It worked for Hembree at Warren,Malzahn at Hughes and Laird at Nashville. And for those that really know their football. Sparicino at Ola and Lunney at Fort Smith Southside
