I agree.  Even the smaller schools in NWA have great facilities and growth.  Farmington is exploding, Gravette has a great new facility and Pea Ridge is feeding off of Bville/Rogers overflow.  As families continue to move to NWA, all of these smaller schools are going to get bigger and better.

Brian G

They hired the main man's son and likely are in a situation where they will have to go inside their football family again.  It's a starter job.

Geez this thread is quiet! Any rumors on any leading candidates?

We thought maybe you had some inside info like you did on Alma?

coachsearch

Well application process is over...who are the top candidates?

Brian G

Tucker was the early clubhouse leader.

AirWarren

Austin Tucker? The former WR?

They probably need to hire a former "within". They know and have been around the ropes of "getting the proper assets in the proper avenues" in regard to building a Shiloh team.

Speaking of that, is that shady recruiting service still in business?

AirWarren

Big head Walt Williams? Here is his latest deal.

I was 2 coaches are going with him, including Tucker.

There's another coach that was once at Shiloh that's their main target(no, not Gus)....doubt they get him, tho.

First name or last name? My guess would be the former.

Highly amusing if it's Wood you're referring to.

Nope, read Coach DePriest's post.

Any others being seriously considered besides him?

After RF is elected by the SBC, the SBC will recruit and hire the best available HS football coach in the south.  One of the perks.

Which would be an utter embarrassment to the SBC.

Wrong board, but they pretty much deserve each other.

Now that's taken care of.....Who's the Coach??

Brian G

Two Shiloh coaches have followed Floyd to Alabama.  Shiloh now looking for what might be an entire new staff.  It will likely create a ripple effect of some magnitude with schools that won't be to thrilled at this late juncture.

Jeff Conaway leaving GCT, returning to Shiloh.

Fact, per Robert Yates, per both's twitter.

Jeff Conaway: I'm grateful for the opportunity to return to Shiloh Christian! Thank you GCT for my opportunity to serve. It has been a blessing!

6 seasons at GCT.  26-37 record.
how many games had gct won before he got there?

GCT won 20 games since 2001. He took over after the 2007 season when the won zero games.

tuna fish

Shiloh must have been desperate.

Coach DePriest, Sheridan

One of the best people in the coaching business.  Great Christian man, great coach, great hire by the Saints.

GCT had won zero playoff games in the history of the program before Conaway got there in 2008 and had not been to the playoffs since 1990.  Went 9-3 in 2009 and went to Magnolia and upset them in the first round.

Since then he has won 5, 4, 3, 2. GCT must not be known for producing solid football teams.

Jeff Conaway. He was great in Grease.

Have you ever heard otherwise?

In the 13 years prior to his arrival, GCT won 5 games once (2001).  In the six years since, they have won 5 or more games 3 times.  I don't think they will be good this year, but from what I understand, the new coach will reap the rewards of Conaway building up the football program from the 4th grade up.

Nope, I haven't. The best thing SC could have done was have hired an "inside" guy. One who knows how to work the shiloh wagon. This is probably the best thing for them.

DerekOxford

Conaway should get Shiloh back to winning the 4A-1, but that conference isn't just going to let the Saints come back in and dominate like they did from 2008-10.

Romeo

In my opinion, its a perfect fit for Shiloh. A coach with high character and morals who knows the school and runs the same system. He was the offensive coordinator during two of their state title runs in 2006 and 2008. GCT hasn't had as much success since his first year there, but that doesn't mean he won't be able to win at Shiloh.

Not their 1st choice, but doesn't matter.  He's a good dude.

Is he bringing coaches with him?

Will be interesting to see if he brings Rizzo with him

Adam, you got to admit that he didn't capitalize on that early success at GCT.

The only way was to leave, there is no football talent in Greene County. You could combine Paragould and Tech and still have trouble beating a good 4A team.

Agreed.  I have no excuses for him for that.  I haven't really asked as I've been dealing with our own woes here in Harrison.  I'm not going to say you can't win at GCT as I am an optimist and believe you can win anywhere.

I know that he has built a good foundation there that made it tough for him to leave.  He told me that the next 7-10 years (I think minus 2014, but he didn't say that) will be the best in school history.

I think Shiloh knows exactly what they are getting and should be proud of this hire.  I think many of us believe he was not the #1 choice, but also think that it is a great second (or third or whatever) choice.
