Ok, almost 10min til kickoff...I've got the game up on the broadcast on the computer :) GO BULLDOGS !
PA is rolling.PA at Greenwood's 34 already.
Touchdown PA! 8:49 left in the first
PA 1st & goal from the 2 yard line! Hold 'em, DOGS!
12 plays.Pulaski is good,I told all of you.
Greenwood has the ball at the 35 on the kick as it went out of bounds.
The final score is going to look more like a high school basketball score.
Pulaski got it back, down to the 42 for Pulaski.1st down for the Bruins at the 42!
The live stat updates are great if anyone wants to check it out:
http://fac.hsu.edu/mitchet/livestats/aaa/5a/
I've got the radio from the Dog Pound going, too, but the stats update about 30 sec ahead of the radio. Weird.
Pulaski down to Greenwood's 11.
Touchdown PA. 14-0 5:30 left in 1st quarter

Easy, Killer. It's still early. You never know what's gonna happen. Maybe you're right, but don't jump the gun.
Shiloh was up 14-0 on Greenwood in the first quarter in both 2005 and 2006. Greenwood won 45-42 in 2005 and Shiloh won by one point in 2006. Greenwood will play a complete game. Rick Jones is a great coach.
Greenwood TD :) 14-7 now....

yea but greenwood can not stop PA
LOL what a post
turnover pa...go bulldogs :)
but u never kno so we woll c at the end of the game
This game may last over three hours. I went to the Greenwood/Batesville game and it didn't end until right at 10:30.
Considering both of these teams are primarily passing teams and score quickly, it may not be over until 5.
End of the first...PA-14 GW-7
P.A. could blow this thing wide open, but I expect Greenwood to keep it close. I still pick P.A. to win it!
TD Bulldogs.
14-14.
heck yest 57yd run after the turnover from pa....we are now tied at 14
Pulaski is killing themselves.
PA already has two turnovers and that is killing them, and has allowed Greenwood to tie it up.

good for them let them slowly dig their grave...
Give GW's defense a little credit.
heck yes...interception when pa went for it on 4th and 13....gw has the ball :)
Louks sacked AGAIN! Plus he's had a lot of incomplete passes.
Another PA turnover. Obviously I'm not there, and not able to see if Loucks is making bad passes Greenwood is just making great reads and geting good jumps on the ball. Either way PA is letting Greenwood stay in this game, when they could have already blown it wide open.
Blown it wide open??? Greenwood hasn't looked like they aren't in this game, so you can't say they would be blown out.
Whatever is happening, Louks is not having a good game so far. Interceptions, incomplete passes, and sacks. Way to go, Bulldogs!
TD Greenwood :)

I'm not really sure what you are saying. But if PA hadn't turned the ball over three times, they may still be up by 2 TD's. They did turn the ball over though, so now they have to suck it up and play.
PA throws another INT.
So I guess if GW scores here its a blow out???

nope no blow out...pa just needs to stop makin stupid mistakes...come on bulldogs :)
PA picked off in the endzone. The Bruin player stupidly brought it out and now in order to score PA will have to go basically the length of the field.
Interception by P.A.!
Was only using his same "thinking" that he used for PA earlier in the game.
Earlier in the game PA was up by 14. They have since then had 4 turnovers. Greenwood is only up by 7, and haven't had any turnovers. I was just simply stating if PA hadn't turned over so many times, then this game very well may not be close at all.
Touchdown P.A.!! 21-21...man, I wish I could have been at this game.
TD PA
21-21
TD for PA...it's now 21-21 almost half time....
Wonder why PA hasn't tried for 2 yet today?
This sounds like a great game but private schools should only get 5 points for TD's.LOL
All opinions welcome even the dumb ones like the one above. It is no coincidence that Arkansas high school football has improved radically since the private schools developed great programs. It has raised the standard for EVERY school in the state - public schools want to beat private schools and private schools want to beat the public schools. It's a good thing. The national attention that is coming to Arkansas athletes as a result is a VERY GOOD THING. Or would you prefer the type of attention that Arkansas got this week with that moron who so well represented our state on DEAL OR NO DEAL?

35-28 PA

I looked up the ref crew. Couldn't find where the white hat is from, but one is from Harrison, two from Mt. Home, and another from Russellville.
1st and 10 greenwood on their own 40yd line...
6:07 left in the 3rd...
Sounds like I'm missing a heck of a game.
gw has the ball on the 24yd line after pa went for it on 4th down...
PA just turned it over again going for it on fourth and long in their own territory. That's twice this game it's happened.
another fumble...td for pa...
Evidently it was a questionable call, either way it's a 2 TD lead for PA now. Good or bad call, it may determine the outcome of the game.

Wasting your post - public schools only want to talk about the programs that are competitive - not the majority who lose. They want their cake and want to eat it to. (they want private school parents tax dollars but don't let that taxpayer's son play my son, his toy may be bigger than my son's toy because you have more money after paying taxes and tuition than I do)

I've become really indifferent about the multiplier. I'm kind of happy to see PA do well in a bigger classification.

I know this will step on some toes, but PA is letting Greenwood stick around. Greenwood is capatilizing off PA's mistakes though. But 6 turnovers, and going for it twice on 4th and long in your own territory and not getting the first, is more PA beating themselves, than it is Greenwood beating PA.

Was the playing field level when Springdale mercy ruled the state last year as the largest high school in Arkansas and three state championship coaches and two other head coaches and scores of state championship assistant coaches coaching ONE high school team. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD IN HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS. Are all Little Rock public schools equal in sports - we all know the answer to that. All football players "choose" to go to Central. So Central should not be allowed to play other public schools. Your arguments are lame.

Greenwood your defending state champs. Man I hate saying that.
Ditto...I'm a supporter of the West, but that's one team I can't stand! They are what they are though...very, very consistent...
Guess what..those who hate me.
Your stuck with me.
Coach Kelly, why would you go for 2?Seriously?
Congratulations to the "Greenwood Bulldogs" for their "BACK to BACK STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS"....SS
Go Scrappers ;D ;D
Congrats Greenwood on your STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Man, I wish I would have gone to the game now. What an aerial attack, almost 1100 yards in the air, unbelievable!!!

Thanks SS.
Congratulations Greenwood and Coach Rick Jones!!! Shiloh refused Kelly's request for game film (WOW - a private school collaborated with a public school) and joins with you in celebrating your WEST win. That is the way it should be - conference against conference, region against region, state against state (Arkansas/Florida)
WHY go for two after that last touchdown?
Kick it at worst , overtime.

The stats crew has gotten back to work.
I looked up the ref crew. Couldn't find where the white hat is from, but one is from Harrison, two from Mt. Home, and another from Russellville.
1st of all a big congrats to Greenwood on their back- to- back title. I guess RD's here for another year ;D
Hey UI, was the officiating crew Mark Martin-Harrison , Matt Martin-Mt Home and Kelly Davis-Russellville ? If so, Martin from Harrison was elected by his peers & the AAA last year as "Referee of the Year" last season.
I got my $7 worth.

Not at all...It would just prove that the private schools should have been moved up to 5A and the easier classification a long time ago...Then they would have been better off....SS

Evidently it was a questionable call, either way it's a 2 TD lead for PA now. Good or bad call, it may determine the outcome of the game.
There was a cut block by a PA kid on the fumble return. It was clear as day, but the refs were too far up field to see it.
whats the score now
Just got back. I too left early. We watched the score board as we drove up Markham. Last we saw it was 55-48. Then we got a phone call that GWood scored. Unreal. One of the best ball games I have seen.
The refs let the kids play. They missed some calls, but they weren't one sided. PA got their share, as did GWood.
I didn't see the PA 2 point conversion at the end, but when we saw 55 on the board we thought he had missed the PAT. Definitely not the greatest decision, but they came to win...as did GWood and their 2 point miss.
Congrats GWood!! You stepped up on the field when you needed to!
That was the final stats I shipped out moments ago...

That's right - when you are wrong call the poster an idiot. You are sad. People who are intelligent enough to be successful enough to afford private school tuition do not send other people's children to private school. But you wouldn't be able to figure that out.
I'll bet all the color went out of the Kelly's face when he realized he scored and gave us 1:49 with 3TO's to beat him. He should have got the game film from Wynne vs. Greenwood 2004 to see what happens when you score when we want you to.
WOW!!!
I don't think I've ever seen a game where BOTH teams had 4 recievers with over 100 yards.
I'm glad that those P.A. (the university, recruit school, cheaters, etc., etc.) lost. Way to go Greenwood!
You got to know when to hold'em know when to fold'em. ;)
this game was insane i just got back from the game and Gusano's to cheer on the hogs and drink a little beer :) had the hog rally band at the pub what an after party to the championship game ... the questionable call was the forward pass that was let go by the refs as a fumble ??? he was throwing it got hit flew forward in a spiral landed 10 feet or so PA guy picked it up and scampered in ... PA beating themselves goes hand in hand with the hard hits and the phenomenal coverage greenwood provided on the deep balls and the stop routes ... loucks interceptions came at the hands of tons of tons of tons of sacks by the gwood D they pressured him for most of the night hitting him from all over ... u can say PA beat themselves all u want but the pressure gw brought caused alot of it and im sure any PA fan will agree with that
all of you ppl can talk crap about PA all you want but for a team who just moved up from 3a i think they did a heck of a job this year....
i for one am not downing PA i thought they brought a LEGIT team in and nearly came away with the win i couldnt have asked for a better way to spend my 7 dollars

Greenwood has nothing but respect for the private schools. They're tough competitors. I saw Coach Floyd and the Shiloh coaching staff sitting on the Greenwood side today.
GO VILONIA!!! we beat the state champs!! lol!! we were rooting for yall and i was sitting on yall sides with my vilonia baseball hat on....parents prolly thought i was crazy though!!! EAGLES #1!
Glad to have you on our side, we actually had a lot of support from other teams. I saw Shiloh, Hacket, Booneville and Alma.
Greenwood had 399 yds total offense in the second half and over 250 in the 4th quarter alone. :o

What else would you expect it say? "Just happy to be here" isn't very supportive.
Obviously either of these two teams could outscore just about any team in the state. They'd be even more dangerous if either one could ever find a defense....
Greenwood was 2nd to last in the 5A - West with 24.5 points scored against them per game.
PA was 5th best in the Southeast with 27 points against per game.
Whoever said defense wins championships?
What was their average margin of victory, and where does that fall in their respective conferences? hmm?

Be careful E. Good will ban you if you speak ill of PA he is their "Apologist". How many other 5A teams this year had 3 D-1 players? I am sure they will develope some more D-1 players from within since kindergarten just like B.G.
Between watching Hog game on TV at Chiles (surrounded by GW fans), going to church, getting Christmas decorations out, and other family chores, this is the first I've been back on since the game.
First and foremost, Congratulations Greenwood and Coach Rick Jones!!! I thought PA vs White Hall was the best HS game I'd ever seen, then we went to Wynne and I changed my mind. But, now Saturday nights game tops them all.
I'm sure Nettleton has a great team, seeing as they made it much further in the playoffs than most people thought they would. Also, the one indisputable fact is that Greenwood is the #1 team in 5A. That said....after witnessing both the PA vs Wynne game and the PA vs Greenwood, I am convinced that you could hold a round robin tournament, over a few weeks, where each team would play the other two teams 2 or 3 times, and any given team could win on any given night. All three teams are very closely matched. Just look at the final scores in both of those games -- 1 point margin of victory in each.
I have the utmost respect for all three programs' Coaches and Athletes!!!
Speaking of respect....Ivan, I had nothing but respect for you right up until the end of the PA vs Wynne game. That's when you had to jump on your radio announcer's band wagon. You came on here and said how he shouldn't have said it, but that that didn't mean it wasn't true. And now, you've destroyed this game thread by hammering on this issue in the middle of the best game of the year. People were asking time & score and you were singing the same verse over and over. WHAT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW IS: If PA cheats so much, why did you all wait until the very second that we beat you, to bring up these allegations?
And, CC Dog41....Let me clarify our D-1 prospects' tenure. Yes, Brian Langford did start PA in Kindergarten; however, Loucks arrived several years later............. :D in the 2nd Grade. I understand our top notch recruiters spotted him on the playground at Miss Selma's Daycare and Elementary school (my Pre-K Alma Mater by the way). If you doubt either of these, I will be more than happy to scan their yearbook photos from their first years and post them on here. As for Broderick, if you consider his half brother, Greg Wesley, to be an Ultra Rich Booster, then I guess we're busted. l hadn't really thought of him as an active Booster because I haven't seen him at any games this year; however, that may be because he's busy trying to make the money to pay for Broderick's tuition.....by playing football for the KC Chiefs.
If anyone has confirmable evidence that PA is cheating, please show us what you've got. Until then......NEXT ISSUE!!!
welcome to ivans world pressbox Gwood(the tainted clossus) and PA(the cheating recruiting private school) we beat them last year on our way to winning the champ and we were tainted ... PA beat them on their way to runner up and their cheaters ... its just ivan weve all kind of learned to laugh and poke fun at him time to time

If you will pay the rent then you might be able to sway me to your side. Even then something else would have to be thrown it. I'll never root for Greenwood on two occassions. When they are playing Alma or in a State Championship. The latter is subject to change depending on who their opponent is. ;D

The whole point of the post was that although their offenses were the best in their conference (probably the state, but I've not looked that deep into it and don't have time to right now), their defenses were among the worst (in terms of points allowed). Both teams' margin of victory was among the best in their conference, and that adds directly to my argument. This was meant in no way as a bash on Greenwood or PA. Just a comment that if either team ever develops a defense that comes anywhere near where their offense does, watch out. They'd beat any team in the state.

Thus my "so much for defense wins championships" comment.
I knew what you meant. :)
These type offenses change the whole way the game is looked at, when you are trying to evaluate the defense on a team that runs the spread offense, you have to consider the number of possessions. In the championship game, for example, P.A. only scored on 8 of 15 possessions, Greenwood 8 of 16. Normally teams only have 11 or 12 possessions in a game. So with these numbers, with both of these teams having aruguably the best, high percentage offenses around, holding them to scores on 50% of their possessions, doesn't sound all that bad. Does it? ;D
Thats what I'm talking about.
