Week 3 notes:

--Victor Accuracy 88.8%, Margin Accuracy 5.1%
--Biggest shocker was Shiloh @ Pottsville, with 5 misses out of 11 picks. This is highly indicative of the Apaches' roller-coaster season so far.
--Booneville, Dardanelle, Dover, Panama, and Prairie Grove were unanimous picks.
--Special props to PiratePride03 for this week's high score, picking not only every winner, but also nailing two margins, including the bonus game.

Looking back at the preseason poll I put up last summer, Booneville received almost half the votes as the favorite in the 4A-4, followed quite distantly by Dardy and Ozark.

Will that survive the opening of conference play? Only one way to find out...

Dover @ Dardanelle (17)
How fired up is the Pirate defense? Through three weeks, only five teams have at least matched them in points allowed in all of 4A. Problem is, it's become clear that Greg Smith is padding his OOC slate to counter the brutality of the Judge's Cup. A consequence of this is that Dover is a hard team to read early in the season, which is why their conference-opening win over the Sand Lizards last year is still quite the shocker. Alas, Dardy remembers that experience all too well to allow for a potential repeat.

Ozark (14) @ Waldron
The biggest lesson from last week's Feud: It's pretty hard to beat a good team when they've been spotted 28 points. For all the critical mistakes, though, the 28 points scored by the Hillbillies is the 2nd-most against Charleston since the Feud was renewed. This isn't the most comforting news for a Bulldog side whose own defense is licking its wounds after getting slashed by their neighbors to the south. It would be no surprise at this point if Waldron scored a few TDs, but will they be more than what the Ozark offense could score in their varsity debut at Grandpa's House?

Pottsville @ Booneville (13)
After scoring 82 points and getting sweet revenge in the process, the Apaches crashed back down to earth in spectacular fashion courtesy of a certain NWA team. As dominant as Shiloh's defense looked last week, an even tougher test could loom to open conference play, as the Bearcats could very well be the toughest defense in the 4A-4 this year. With the similar styles of play between them, this could be the first game in the state to go final in Week 4.

West Fork (6) @ Subiaco
Unlike last year, there is actually a win between these two teams entering the game, thanks to the Trojans' season-opening bout of revenge. Unfortunately for Subi, the Tigers could very well be better than their winless record would indicate, thanks largely to its tougher OOC slate.

Might be time to scrap the football program.....errr "program" might not be the best term here.

They better be happy they are going back to 3A. They might be able to win some games there. And I know they dropped a couple of their hard non conference games moving forward.

Sigmund Sauer

Maybe that will help, but they are no longer a football community in any way. They are all about some volleyball there. I see more people at almost any away peewee game than a West Fork Sr. High home FB game. There was a recent post that mentioned talent, coaching, and community as top 3 priorities for successful FB programs. WF is a perfect example of what happens when one part of that equation is "0."

the green moose

It's a tough pill to swallow for the Moose. West Fork is the worst team in the 4A. The Moose doesn't have answers for why West Fork has fell off the map. The Moose was once apart of the West Fork team that won the conference title in the 4-4A in 2008. The Moose saw West Fork thrive a bit after that, but he never expected it would come to this. There's no backing from the community. Sadly West Fork fans are the worst fans. They show up to games when West Fork is winning, but when times get tough they are no where to be seen. The talent at West Fork has dwindled as well. The kids try hard, but that only gets you so far. There's no size and or speed really. It's a sad time to be a West Fork tiger.
