Lumberjackfan1978

He played like a five star this year for the most part

Romeo

Per Richard Davenport, Auburn has offered Treylon Burks.

No doubt he's a fantastic player but there are only a handful of 5 stars every year.

There were only 32 total last year and only 28 listed for next year as of right now. These rankings are fluid. Those 7 WRs may not all be 5 stars when they're seniors.

Agreed.. but as of now they are 5* recruits

Romeo

He'll likely be rated a 4 star by most recruiting sites. Most five star recruits have more than 10 offers at this point and its rare they give the highest ratings to recruits from Arkansas.

From small towns in Arkansas.

Arkansas, specifically small towns in Arkansas, just do not produce 5 star talent. Agim last year was the exception.

Rankings are subjective. Being rated a 5 star doesn't guarantee success anyway.

Yea I have a bad feeling he scores a TD or two in his lifetime against the Hogs. I don't see him ending up in Fayetteville. He was a treat to watch. Glad I got to see that talent in person at least once.

I feel like Burks would have more offers if he went to camps. He is not interested in them at this point. How many kids actually turn down Nike The Opening?

The kid is a sophomore and a junior coming up. He got his first D1 offer as a freshman.

He has two years to go to a "camp". But has proven that he can get offers with or without some camp.

While a team is better off to have a bunch of 5 stars and less 3 stars, the number of stars a kid receives doesn't affect how good the kid actually is.

Its been my experience 5 stars are all pretty good.

I'll always hope that our state talent stays here in state to play college ball, but Treylon has grown up in a system much closer to Gus' than Bret's. I think he'd have tons more success in Auburn.

Yep especially with all those awesome Auburn qbs throwing to him..lol ::)

The Razorbacks biggest threat with Burks will be LSU. It will come down to those two schools.

Why on earth would an elite WR want to go to Auburn? LSU and Arkansas battle for Burks imo. I like our chances here

So you with a straight face think Arkansas is a good spot for an elite WR? He isn"t a TE, he is a WR. I stand by what I said that if his ultimate goal is to be an NFL wide receiver then there are tons of schools he will pick over the Hogs. Second, as someone posted above Auburn may now have the best QB in the SEC with that Baylor transfer being the starter this August. Time will tell on that, but that was a huge get for Auburn. If Auburn stays healthy they easily win 10 games. When that Pettway guy was healthy they looked unreal in those games.

Mr. Mercer

If Stidham is as good as they think (which I believe he will be).  He won´t even be there to play with Burks.  He could technically go pro after this coming season, but best case he´s a senior Burks Freshmen year.

Yeah I do think that Arkansas is a good spot for an elite WR in Enos' offense more than Auburns. Take a look at what Auburn WR's have said during the draft process on how simplistic Gus' routes are and how WR's have to be taught a lot of basics once they get into the pros.

https://twitter.com/bmarcello/status/726529445528522753

Cape up for Gus all you want. Anyone that actually knows what they're talking about can tell you how simplistic those routes are and how unprepared they make you for the league. Hatcher and Morgan were both 3 star guys that will get drafted and are valued by NFL teams because they run great routes, are great blockers, and have very good hands. Hatcher didn't always have good hands

I think Keon might get drafted.  over 6'.  over 200 lbs.  Maybe a 4.5 40 guy, rated # 40 in the draft at WR
I don't think Morgan will.  He is going to Measure at probably under 5'10" and is about 180 lbs.  May run under a 4.6 but I doubt by much.  Rated the 117th best WR in the draft. He will probably have to sign after the draft.

But who knows, crazier things have happened.

That problem is only going to get worse next year. Replacing the entire offensive line will be a problem as well.

Both good points. Our O-Line and D will have a long way to go.  I feel they will be ready to compete.

Compete in the weak 7-4a or with all of 4a?

Different people have different definitions of compete. To some it is to just have a winning record. You know what I'm talking about cuckoobird....like yours this year for the first time in 4 years. To others it may be to win the conference like we have (3 peated).  To others it is just to be in the game. To each their own.
