Huddersfield Town is 2-for-2 and gotten the full 6 points through two weeks! How about those Terriers!

They're my sentimental pick to stay up of the three promoted teams.

They have looked very good so far.  Their defense appears sound, and for the next few weeks their schedule is favorable.  Huddersfield could go a long way toward staying up during that time.

That was a peach of a strike that won them the game against Newcastle today.

I think this is going to be a dog fight of a year.... Tottenham is always going to be that team that gets close, but no cigar. They are showing their true selves already.

It's crazy cause I thought they had no chance coming into this season. Their goal differential was negative last year in the Championship and even got promoted through the playoff. Those fans ate it up today in Huddersfield. That was fun to watch.

My father in law is already blaming the "wembley curse" after today's loss. With that silly own goal by Chelsea, should have been 2-0.

I have a bad feeling about them this year.... I think things will really get interesting overall soon with 7 teams in either the Champions League or Europa League and how they all start navigating the higher fixture numbers starting in about a month.

Not just promoted through the playoff, but on penalties in both matches.

The Huddersfield manager has worked under Jurgen Klopp, and it shows.

The crowd was 25,000 or so but it sounded like twice or three times that many.  The John Smith's was ROCKING.

Rooney gets his 200th Premier League against Man City which is only fitting.... Kyle Walker got 2 yellow cards back to back within 2 minutes and was sent off shortly after that goal. Let's see if Everton can hold Man City off for the next 33 minutes with the 1-0 lead they have right now.

beach bum

Sterling equalizes for the eventual draw..... West Brom,, Huddersfield, and Man U all sit with 6 points through the first 2 weeks.

beach bum

Champions League draw is tomorrow at noon.... Liverpool took care of Hoffenheim today so there will be 5 Premier League teams in the group stage of 32. I expect Everton or either Arsenal to dominate the Europa League and I hope one of the 5 Champions League clubs from the Premier League can make a run to the semifinals or finals this time around. Maybe Manchester United is built to do so this year? I think this will be a good year for the EPL across European competition.

beach bum

Sigurdsson's goal today.... Wow. From the halfway line almost out of bounds.

beach bum

Also, the Champions League draw is out. The teams in all caps are who I think will come out of the group stage Remember that the 3rd place team gets a spot in the Europa League round of 32...

Group A
1.MANCHESTER UNITED
2.BENFICA
3.Basel
4.CSKA Moscow

Group B
1.PARIS SAINT GERMAIN
2.BAYERN MUNICH
3.Celtic
4.Anderlecht

GROUP C
1.CHELSEA
2.ATLETICO MADRID
3.Roma
4.Qarabag

Group D
1.JUVENTUS
2.BARCELONA
3.Sporting Lisbon
4.Olympiacos

GROUP E
1.LIVERPOOL
2.SEVILLA
3.Spartak Moscow
4.Maribor

GROUP F
1.MANCHESTER CITY
2.NAPOLI
3.Feyenoord
4.Shakhtar Donetsk

GROUP G
1.MONACO
2.RB LEIPZEG
3.Benfica
4.Bestikas

Group H (Group of Death)
1.REAL MADRID
2.DORTMUND
3.Tottenham
4.Apoel

-I think besides Spurs all the EPL teams got off easy. I hope 4 out of 5 can make it to the final 16. We will see.
-That last group H will have one monster matchup every Tuesday/Wednesday they play

There are some clubs right now playing down right awful too that if they don't get something sorted out could be in serious trouble(Crystal Palace for just one example). If the Terriers can stay solid defensively against the other clubs that will be in the bottom half I think Huddersfield can certainly hold on through the whole season and stay up. Winning 1-0 or 1-1 draws aren't pretty but will certainly scrape them enough points.

Looks like that Chelsea loss to Burnley was an aberration.

Not making excuses but Everton had just got back from a tough game against Split in the Europa League.  Look for a better match when Chelsea goes to Goodison.

After Leicester established their lead in 15-16, that's pretty well what they did to close out all the opposition.

That needs to be Huddersfield's strategy to stay up:  get those wins and draws against the other promoted teams and those in the lower half, and maybe sneak a home draw or two against one of the big boys.

Burnley grabbed some more road points against one of the big teams by getting a draw at Tottenham today.

West Ham looks simply awful right now.

They look absolutely awful. I would not be shocked if one or two clubs jump ahead of them and they finish even worse than 6. They may go all out and play their top sides on Thursday for the Europa League at a chance to do what Man U and secure Champions League through that way. If they do that they may drop some weekend points they shouldn't as the season goes along. I don't want to put too much stock into the first month, but they look so bad the last 2 weeks.

1-Adam-12

I am rooting for Forest Green Rovers to stay up in League Two.

The town they are based in has roughly the same population as Mena.  It was an accomplishment for them just to make the League.  Now let's see if they can make it to a second season.

Been so caught up with starting back to college, I haven't even kept up with the EPL. And boy was I surprised when I looked at where Bournemouth was in the table

AirWarren

Once we get Eden back, I think we will be at full stride. Morata has already proven to be a huge asset to the team. Combined with the other Spanish nationals, Pedro and Fabregas, the run the field well. Batsuayi also looks good.

I think it comes down to Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea for the cup.

Apparently a wild day in England.

Paraguay just whooped Chile 3-0 in Santiago in World Cup qualifying. One really good nation from South America will be missing the World Cup and if its Chile they can blame getting beat both times by Paraguay for 0 points against them. Paraguay and Peru still have marginal chances with Brazil locked. Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, and Argentina will have one team miss out from that last group of nations. Venezuela and Bolivia definitely won't make it.

Costa Rica 2 USA 0 ....... Pathetic. Honduras won also earlier and we both have 8 points now and have to go to Honduras Tuesday. Panama is also 1 point behind us. If we lose Tuesday even getting to the World Cup could become up in the air. Costa Rica and Mexico at 14 points now puts us only hoping for 3rd at best.

Yes, and Leicester got a lot of money for him too.

Bobby Wood scores in the 85th minute to level it up in Honduras and we draw 1-1. I seriously thought Honduras was about to go up 3 points on us but we salvaged a point to keep us and Honduras at 9 points now. Their last 2 matches are against Costa Rica and Mexico so all I think we have to do now is beat Panama head to head in Orlando and we should get 3rd in the Hex. I am afraid we are going to get destroyed in Russia if we make it.

Usmnt.....still remains a step behind the world. Just hope to be competitive

I think you are right at about the same age as me( I hit 30 in a few months).... But I would have given anything to have these leagues in these smaller towns when I was a kid and teenager. Soccer quite hadn't hit a growth yet when I was coming up or I would have loved it. In NWA, a got my better half's little brother in a league the last 2 years and soccer has overtaken basketball has his #1 sport he enjoys. We got the goal in the back yard now and its fun to just go out and kick the ball around with him. I am sure your daughter is getting that age where she can play sports too. It's crazy how much more organized the good leagues are than we were around growing up.
