Everything is updated with all 3 meets that are on varvee put in (weather hasn't been cooperating thus far, so many meets have been cancelled or postponed).

Thanks for your patience, getting these performances lists started up is the hardest part.

beach bum

I appeciate the track updates a lot. I am going to watch some meets here in Colorado where I recently moved(mainly the 2 largest classifications since I spend my time in Colorado Springs and Denver).... The sprinters aren't that great here but the distance running is top notch. Its a runners paradise here. How is Alma going to transition in 6A for track? I assume just fine if the they follow lead of the other sports.

Thanks beach, I try my best. Colorado does have some great distance running. Colorado's men team is one of the premier cross country programs int he nation. You'll see some great distance running.

Alma's transition into 6A is up in the air. We aren't having near as many kids come out right now as we have in the past. It will be interesting to say the least. Our head coach who ushered Alma into it's golden years has retired, so Coach Hall, a great coach for field events, is the new head coach. It will just depend on if the athletes come out.

Bump. Now fully updated for every meet entered on varvee as of now. The Devil Dog relays are not entered on there yet and that will change things quite a bit in 5A, but it will be entered whenever I see it on varvee.

Fully acknowledging the weather has played havoc with the spring sports this year, I am still amazed how few tracksters have hit the automatic qualifying marks in the 5A to this point in the year.  Either last year must have been a banner year in 5A track in terms of athletes or there is a bit of a drop off in terms of overall athletic talent this year or a combination of all the above.

This could be interpreted as a sign that the 5A Boys is/are wide open this year.

5A sprints are as weak as I've ever seen them so far. Still early and Forrest City and other Eastern schools haven't come into play yet

Bump for fully updated lists for meets on varvee. There are still a few (including the Vilonia meet) that aren't on there.

MHSGrad

It looks like Vilonia, Magnolia, and CFV... Again lol

AT

Updated to add the Jerry Robert Relays (Vilonia meet)

MHSGrad

Yea, but until they show up more in the field, I still see them as the 4th best. Best case for CFV and Maumelle is spreading thin of points. Vilonia is going to rack up again in distance

Vilonia's success with the track program belongs to Coach Stout and some volunteers only. The school paid assist coach does not show up at any practices and very few track meets. The AD knows this has been going on for years and is okay with letting the track assist coach getting paid for not doing his job.

AT

Bump for update. I was hoping to wait for the Airedale Relays to be put into varvee, but they haven't done it yet, so I'll have to hope they do later and add those results to the lists then.

Bump for full update. Meets that have been included:

Is anyone planning on going to state and MoC? I plan on being at both since Morrilton and Russellville are pretty close

sevenof400

MHS - I am hoping to get to Morrilton on May 7th.  Catch you there perhaps?

Coach Alley

If my son makes it to the MOC then I'll be there. May still go if he doesn't.

SouthpawSensation

I will be in Fayetteville for the Class 7A meet. Wouldn't mind being at MOC, but that's also the day of my sons' graduation.

AT

Updated with all meets on varvee including the 7A East/Central conference qualifiers

sevenof400

More than I can ever recall in my brief time following track and field, the 5A conference meets are going to be VERY important for teams with state title aspirations.

MHSGrad

I really think, looking at those best performances, Magnolia HAS to run the table in the Discus at state to have a chance. Same can be said (or closely) with Vilonia in distance. If they want to dominate like they have the last couple years, 3 in the top 5 in the 800,1600, and 3200 seems to be a must. This could be one of the most exciting state track meets since the Magnolia, Helena, and Alma battles in the mid 2000s. Can't wait!!

Coach Alley

Unfortunately, Mark Odom of Conway may be done for the year. He pulled his hamstring.

AT

Updated for all meets currently entered on varvee including the conference meets and adding their qualifiers.

MHSGrad

Looks like we will be welcoming Alma back to 5A in 2016!

AT

I am currently in the process of going back through and rechecking all my figures for the lists. I just finished 7A.

If those results happened exactly the way their best performances went, Magnolia would score 90. Vilonia 85.

Can't wait!

I think you miscounted, MHS.....  ;D

Are you going Thursday?  I am pretty sure I will head over to Morrilton on Thursday as soon as I can get off work but I may not make it there too much before the running finals begin.  Want text updates if I do go?

Great work as always, AT!

MHSGrad

I'll be there all day. If yall want me to text you what is going on, PM your information! I will probably make a 5A State Championship thread to post updates as well

Seven, you are right. I was off. It came out to 120 Magnolia, with FC at 90, and Vilonia not getting off the bus ;). I just hope for a great meet! The depth in 5A this year is surprising
