Bump for fully updated. The only two meets entered into Varvee have been the Y timing invitational which was a running events only meet and De Queen's meet.

You can check my teams and make sure I didn't sneak in a 4A or 6A team on accident if you'd like. Thanks.

Bump for update

NOTES:

I did not use the 4 x 100 meter relay times from the Senior Billies Relays meet at Monticello because they either had a timing error or neglected to put the hundredths of a second for this event and the hundredths of a second are too important for the 4 x 100 meter relay to neglect.

I did not use the 4 x 400 meter relay times at the Quad City Relays at Alma for the same reason as above.

Wow. The times at the Bryant Relays tonight.

1.9 tailwind...perfect legal time for a fast race.

AT

Also, Bryant is very much a contender for the 7A state title.

I didn't realize he was your son. I'm not sure why he didn't, he is faster than some of those guys.

Bump for update.

Might want to check I didn't put a school in the wrong classification, didn't skip an athlete, or repeat an athlete in the same event.

AT,

I think I see one problem - looks like CF cloned a long jumper sometime since last year....

Looks like CF may be trying to do this year in the LJ what V did last year in the PV.

It's ridiculous how deep they are in jumps and sprints. I'd still like to see more consistency in their long jump marks before I say they can rack up huge points in the event.

Vilonia needs to rack up the points in distance and pole vault this year...

Even this early, it is shaping up to be quite the interesting state meet.

Ought to be an outstanding meet at Cabot on April 1st. Cabot laid down a brand new track. I expect quite a few sub 11 second and 100m and 200m qualifiers.

Yep, he's my son. I have another in the 9th grade too.

SouthpawSensation

There's one you need to add to the list for the 100.
Keson Payton of Bentonville ran a 10.98 during the Springdale Schools Invitational on March 13.

I could be wrong but I believe Almatrackster is posting legal times only.

It was a certified meet, according to the list provided by the AAA. That's why I mentioned the time.

Wind was too much if I'm not mistakened.

MRPRFCT is correct. The AAA does not count sprints or horizontal jumps in their qualifications that have a tailwind over 2.00 meters/second. I don't use them in my performance lists either for that reason.

They don't count world records for sprints if they have a wind over 2.00 meters/second in the professional ranks.

updated for any meets that are on directathletics or varvee. There may have been some meets ran Thursday or Friday that aren't submitted yet. I will add those later if they are put up

AT

Note on updates:

I must apologize for the slow update for the past week's meets. I had a busy week and an slowly wading my way through things.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THE WALL OF TEXT, I'M BASICALLY SAYING I'M USING VARVEE ONLY INSTEAD OF DIRECTATHLETICS AND VARVEE

I also have a new way of doing things. I have expressed my displeasure with varvee in the past but after working with it for awhile, I have seen how it has some strengths that directathletics doesn't. The main one being that it gives wind readings for individual jumpers unlike directathletics. It still has it's negatives (such as one athlete being put under two different names and schools being put in the wrong classification), but I've found it easier to use for my performance lists.

Why am I telling you this? Well, I've made a new standard where I will only add results to the performance lists if the meet is posted on varvee. I used to do directathletics or varvee, but the AAA has made it explicit that it will only allow qualifiers to come through varvee. This isn't really a big deal since usually meets will go up on both websites, BUT right now the Conway meet, for example, is up on directathletics but not posted on varvee. That means there are some performances from that meet that won't be on the lists UNTIL it is posted on varvee. I'm sure it will be soon, not sure what is taking them so long...

I hope to have my lists updated for the meets currently posted by tomorrow or Tuesday.

All meets that are currently submitted to varvee have been added to the lists. Fully updated bump

Saw Texarkana in person at Hot Springs Friday night.  They're the best team in the state. Talent on top of talent.

The son has just been snakebit lately. Slipped on his start in Cabot, blocks slipped on him last night, and the wind in Conway. Going to need to do something at Heber Springs on Friday or do well in conference or no state.

Update on updates:

I'm waiting on the McDonald Relays to be put on varvee before I fully update the lists...

But the lists will look a little different. The only athletes that will be put on the lists now are auto qualifiers through performances throughout the year or qualifiers through the conference meets.

There have only been like four conference meets so far (two 1A, one 2A, and one 5A), but as the conference results roll in, these lists will get larger. Anyways just waiting for the McDonald's Relays to be put on varvee.

AT

Southside, the McDonald relays is one of the biggest track meets in the state! PUT IT ON VARVEE.

Please and thank you.

Texarkana, top to bottom, might be one of the best teams I have seen in years. They are one great distance runner from being the best. Through all the Alma, Magnolia, Lake Hamilton, Hot Springs, and Russellville teams I have seen, their numbers are just amazing. They have always had the talent, but now, they are developing it. Those 3 teams they DESTROYED at their meet are reoccurring top teams in the state. 220 points. Freaking amazing

AT

Texarkana is ridiculous. They could easily score 200 points at the state meet. Even if they have two or three guys just completely underperform at state, they could win by 100 points.

BUT, I do want to hold off a little bit on calling them even the best team in the state this year. They still haven't brought a whole team to face Bentonville. I guess we may see that at the meet of champs, but top athletes scratch from the MOC all the time because of graduation and other obligations at the end of the year.

I do think Texarkana is probably the best team in the state. It's between Texarkana and Bentonville, but I think Texarkana having throwers is the difference.

SouthpawSensation

That's just it.
Texarkana is 6A. Bentonville is 7A.
The two schools won't face each other with their entire teams, so all we have left is to ponder what could be if they were to meet.

Right. I think Texarkana would have a tough time winning 7A state, though. Their sprinters and jumpers would score much less than they will at 6A state. Their distance would have a tough time scoring two points.

An interesting discussion for sure.

BUMP FOR UPDATE

Alright, Texarkana doesn't have their meet on varvee yet and I'm not sure when or if they will, but I'll add it when it is. I believe that meet will be the last or one of the last non conference meets to be put on varvee.

The lists probably will look a little different to you so let me address questions you may have:

Why is no one bolded anymore? How am I supposed to tell who qualified for state?
From now one, every athlete on the lists have qualified for the state meet. Either through a non conference meet performance or finishing high enough at their conference meet to qualify.

Woah! Some teams have jumped up in number of scoring opportunities at state! How did that happen so fast?
Like I said above, conference qualifiers are now added to the lists. This means, take Sylvan Hills for instance, certain teams will be getting a lot more qualifiers after conference.

Why do some events have no athletes listed below them?
Simply, there hasn't been a conference meet in that classification and no one has ran the auto time or hit the auto mark.

Any other questions, just ask.

Bentonville just floods other teams with its numbers. May not win first, but if they get third and fourth, they just cancelled out that first.

So is Texarkana just overly blessed with a lot of track talent and/or is there an overall commitment to track by the school on the part of the coaches and athletes and/or does Texarkana have some darn good coaches?

Whatever the explanation, it is certainly a story worth telling.  They have been beyond impressive this year.  Full marks to Texarkana!

It is so hard to classify 7A in the same state, which is why I picked 5A and 6A powerhouses to compare them to.. They are definitely the best 5A/6A school I have seen since I moved to Arkansas

Side note: That kid from Parkview last year that ran the 400.. Was he a senior? I'm assuming he went to Arkansas... How is he doing?

He hasn't ran indoor or outdoor this season. I would just be speculating as to why he isn't. Hopefully he is just redshirting (Eric Nathaniel is his name by the way)

Safe here on the near west side of Vilonia but not hearing good news about other parts of town.
Mayflower not so lucky.
A very nasty storm this evening.

Arkansas High has always had the athletes to compete in track. In fact, they're probably down from the past, due to numbers. The track coach does a great job of getting the guys to buy in. By looking at the numbers, Arkansas High's best track athlete isn't performing as well overall as he did last year, but the team is much deeper this year, and the addition to once freshman distance runner has put them over the top. Plus LH appears to be down this year.

Update: One of my best friend's childhood friends lost everything in Vilonia tonight..

The only reason I am posting this in here is because I remember the devastation on the faces of those kids in 2011. Again, prayers to all affected

AT

Can anyone tell me if Jacob Shiohira of Bentonville is out (their distance stud). He hasn't ran since March. I originally thought it was because he prequalified for state in the events he needed to, but usually even then, you don't keep an athlete from running this long.

I'm not asking for his medical history, just wondering if he is nursing an injury in general or has just been sitting out for some reason.

If he is hurt and can't run at state, Bentonville might still be the favorite, but it becomes a lot closer.

Unfortunately, many people lost a great deal in this storm.  Click here for a look at one neighborhood's devastation.  Words simply cannot paint an accurate picture of the pain these folks are facing.  Thanks for thinking about us MHSGrad and hope to see you in Harrison next week.  Just as was the case in 2011, getting back to some semblance of normalcy will be one thing to help the recovery process along.

That was the neighborhood they lived in :/. I will be there next week.. Hopefully the rain will stay away!

Here in Texarkana it's no secret that Arkansas is flooded with talent.  Every year you can count on Arkansas High having the sprinters and competitive in the field, but we always fail to have consist distance.  This is really an average year for the Razorbacks with some other schools being a little down this year in the conference.  They are on a  16 meet winning streak and this year was the return of the Doc Walker Hog Relays.  We have great coaches here with our track program, they are actually football coaches.  The talent is being utilized to the max at this point and I do believe we would take Bentonville.
