What was the lowest seeded team to win state? What was the lowest seeded team to make the finals but not win?

There could be a lower seed, but Strong won a state title in 2011 as a #3 seed out of the 2A-8.

FS Southside and Fayetteville both won state as 4th seeds in the first two years of 7A.

Ozark made the finals in 4A as a 3 seed in 2012 I believe....

Alma was the 4 seed in 1997 in class 3A going 6-4 during the regular season before running the table in the playoffs and beating Hamburg in the finals.

That one may be the craziest of all..... I say that because the two 7A teams doing it is not as shocking because 7A conferences tend to have more depth down to their 3 and 4 seeds and if a staff makes schematic adjustments right down the stretch is can help them turn what may have been some close regular season losses into close wins in November.... Especially 7A only has 16 teams too. Then Strong rode a future NFL back to its title when it was in the 8-2A when the 8-2A was just absolutely loaded then by 2A standards. Strong would have won any other conference in 2A that season. Ozark made the title in 2012 as a 3 seed when the other side of the bracket had in my opinion the 4 best teams in it. I think Ozark benefited a lot from the luck of the bracket draw that year. They were a really good team, but maybe the 4th or 5th best team in 4A that year. Going in 6-4 in the regular season and then ripping off 4 straight wins against high level opponents in November and December is crazy

Thanks for the info. Was curious about this for a while. A 3 seed in the 7A winning is not as surprising as a 3 seed in the 3A. The 3 seed in the 3A would probably be ranked 18 to 25, that would be a great accomplishment.
