The girls only have 7 teams, so the 1 seed (LRCA) gets a bye on Saturday.  What I'm hoping to see is a version of this schedule that shows the seeds for each game.  That way we'd have a pretty good idea of our game times even if the seeds aren't official yet.

Yes, we have been informed that we will play even in heavy rain as long as there is no lightning.

Yes, we have been informed that we will play even in heavy rain as long as there is no lightning.
And if some games do end up being delayed, the backup plan is to have girls games at PA on Monday.

Could one assume that there was lightning and therefore games were rescheduled?

JAPAYNE

I think you mean in the boys bracket that Sylvan Hills should be playing LRCA since they were the winner of game 2.  PA is still waiting for the winner between Beebe and McClellan.

The score of the boys game #2 was actually Sylvan Hills 4, Parkview 0.

No charge for admission to today's games.  Reasoning is that today's four teams fans have already paid and were at stadium Saturday.

Beebe girls finish off Parkview in a completion from Saturday's game 8-0 or 7-0 (can't remember exactly).  It was sportsmanship rule shortly after halftime.  Beebe plays LRCA Tuesday at 5:00 pm.

LR McClellan upsets Beebe in the boys game.  It was tied 0-0 after regulation and 4-4 after first five PKs.  Beebe shot first on the sixth PK and missed, McClellan was in the net on their kick and the celebration ensued.  McClellan plays PA Wednesday.

Based on season results, if you would have told me that the Beebe girls would be going to State while the Beebe boys went home, I would have bet you money that you would be wrong...

...that's why we play the game.

Congratulations to the Lady Badgers!

I wish I could see the Lady Warriors/Lady Bruins game to see how both of Harrison's old rivals are doing this year. One of these two could possibly be State Champs once again as in past,  but we still have a ways to go yet to see how the other conferences are shaping out.

I'll be there tonight.  Makes me nervous.  I'm on the PA side... the teams split in the regular season, and I think either team can win on any given night, but LRCA has A LOT of talent this year.  I think they've only given up three goals all season.

McClellan VB 1, PA 1. McClellan wins in SFTM.
Tomorrow 5pm PA vs Sylvan Hills for 3rd/4th seed
7 pm LRCA vs McClellan for 1st/2nd seed

Hogbert,

Am I reading that correctly?

McClellan beat PA?

Also, might you have a final on Sylvan Hills vs Beebe girls?

hogbert

Yep. PA has one guy up top that can be trouble if you aren't careful. Good finisher. Problem is, he got a red card at end of first round game so was out tonight. So, they moved their best defender up to forward and he scored. They then moved him back to center back, but they gave up a goal anyway. Then went fairly deep in SFTM, but McClellan won.

Sorry, I didn't get the first game score, only know it also went to SFTM. So of the 4 games tonight, 3 were decided by the old stationary ball.

I do not know the final score of the Sylvan Hills-Beebe girls game, but as Hogbert said, it went to KTFM and Sylvan Hills won.

Great game by both teams.  Terrible game by the center ref.

Asked by someone NOT in attendance, care to expand on that?

hogbert

I'll let original poster expand on their concerns, but the center has been around a long time, and doesn't tend to move much or get himself in great position. Having said that, I didn't see anything too egregious. PA plays, at least against us, the whole lone striker up top and clog the box defense. That does create some interesting calls/non-calls for the crew. At the end of the day, it is what it is.

Sure.  Both teams are pretty physical, but the ref was doing a pretty good job of letting them play (both sides) until PA took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd half.  Then, like magic, he started calling all kinds of fouls on PA, and few, if any on LRCA.  The tying goal by LRCA came on a free kick where our defender not only got all ball... she got the ball before the offensive player got to it.  Our girl had cleared the ball and was on the ground when the LRCA player fell over her.  It was a great player by our defender and it should have been a no call.

On three straight opportunities late in the game for PA, we got nice passes with our girls making good turns to get ahead of the defenders, and each time got grabbed by the LRCA defender to slow them down.  1st time - no call by the ref.  2nd time, AR waived his flag to make the call and the center ref waived him off.  3rd time the LRCA defender grabbed the PA player around the elbow and pulled her backwards to the ground... and he called the foul on PA.

With about 2 minutes to go in the game, LRCA defender had an obvious handball right in front of the goal... she even had her hand extended from her body.  Everyone saw it but the ref... no call, would have been a PK.

There were several no-calls on LRCA defenders grabbing, pushing off of PA shoulders on contested headers, etc. as well as several other questionable calls against PA (after they took the 1-0 lead), but here's the kicker... At one point late in the game, one of the LRCA offensive players basically just flops beside a PA player with no contact, but the ref calls a foul.  The PA player tells the ref she didn't touch her and the ref replies to her and calls her a thug.  With that kind of pre-disposition against our player, no wonder he was calling everything so lopsided.  In his mind, he obviously thought PA deserved to lose, so he did his best to help make it happen.

BTW - the ref knows the dad of the player he called a thug, but he didn't realize that was his daughter.  As he's walking off the field, the dad is waiting.  Ref says, "hey, how ya doing?"  Dad says, "did you call my daughter a thug?"  Ref says, "no, of course not."  Said player is nearby and says, "yes, you did."  Ref says, "oh, that's your daughter?"  Then starts tripping over his words as he has to admit he said it.

Needless to say, I don't think that ref should get to call anymore PA games.  He has an obvious bias against them... and refs can't let their bias affect their judgement.

RazorDad

The ref made equally bad calls against both teams, so I don't consider that a factor in the game. LRCA was the superior team, wilh an emphasis on team. PA had 2-3 very good players that were trying to carry the rest of their team that parked the bus. But that's HS soccer for ya.

LRCA cried and cried most of the game... some even calling the ref names at the top of their lungs, but once he started calling things LRCA's way, the Warrior parents got very happy with the officiating.  My experience watching PA play LRCA through the years is that tough, physical play is applauded by the LRCA parents when their girls are dishing it out, but if the other team is physical, too, everything they do is a foul.

That noted, I've said many times to various friends this year that LRCA is extremely talented.  You play a possession style that I'm very jealous of as it is the kind of soccer my daughter's club team plays.  LRCA definitely has more overall talent than PA, although I don't think I'd limit PA's "very good players" to 2 - 3.  We're not as deep as past years, but still good enough to split with LRCA during the regular season and play to a tie in regulation last night.  And I happen to believe that LRCA is the most talented in 5A this year and should win state... but obviously hope PA can finally pull it off.   We've lost in the finals three years in a row... hoping the 4th time is the charm.

Any thoughts on the ref calling our player a thug to her face?  Don't you think he must have a little bit of bias in his calls if he is pre-disposed to thinking bad things about our players?

I'm sure various refs have such opinions about various players from various teams, but if it is so deep-seated into this guy's mind that he can't help but say it out loud in a game where he is supposed to be non-biased, then it is certainly affecting the way he sees and calls the game.

Good point.

BTW - another excruciatingly true story.  When LRCA beat PA 5 - 0 in the first meeting this season, one of the LRCA dads saw our freshman goalie at Wal-Mart after the game.  He got in her face and started chanting 5-0, 5-0, 5-0...

Sad.

MB Hog.  Sounds like the same treatment PA fans give other schools during football season. ;D

PA might want to spend more time fixing all the roofs leaking at PA when it rains instead of worrying about athletics all the time.

If people act crazy like you say just ignore them.  I know the goalie's parents.  I'm sure that is what they did, if true?

Another reason PA gets a bad wrap, they give can give it out but don't take it very well.......

Hi, Larry - I usually hear from people that they were pleasantly surprised how well they were treated when they attended a game at PA.  PA gets a bad rap... and most people like to perpetuate that rather than believe we actually treat people well.

if true....sad it comes to that.  Dad probably never plays athletics and living though the kid.  I guess PA and LRCA brings out the best of people!   ;D

It's definitely true... and definitely sad.  Thing is, I know the guy.  He's typically a nice guy.  Just too excited about beating PA to realize how awful he was acting and how badly he was making a freshman girl feel.

I'd say a lot of parents lose their heads due to their kids' sports.  I wouldn't limit that to PA and LRCA.

Rocket23

The horrible calls went both ways.   LRCA tackled in the box, no call... handball in first half in the box, nocall.  The breakaway in second half,  I thought I saw LRCA player did grab jersey, but the PA player was using a nice swim stroke right across her upper chest.  Both teams received the advantage and disadvantage of missed calls and was a good physical game you expect from arch rivals.

Wow, this thread...

Just wow.
Yes, I know.  And I know I've been part of the problem by airing out my position.  The refs calls were so frustrating.  Like I said, it was pretty even calling until we got up 1 - 0... and the LRCA parents were very vocal about their disapproval up until all the calls started going their way.

I don't have anything else to say.  Someone asked what my complaint was about the officiating... I should have kept quiet, but I was so appalled with the "thug" comment.  If they don't think that was inappropriate for the ref to call a player he is officiating a thug, and if they don't think he was likely biased in the way he saw the game, then there is no sense reasoning with them.

Rocket23

Yes, that was ridiculous in him saying that to her, and he should never ever make a personal comment to a player like that.  The dad handled it in a very classy manner.  Not that it would do any good, but the AOA at AAA should be notified of it.

And soccer officiating is probably the most difficult sport to officiate because of the angles and being so far from the possible infractions.  Officiating is a game of angles and it is so hard to get an open look from that far away.

I feel the ARs should be much more involved in soccer because a lot of times they have the best look.  But so many times, and the center did so yesterday, they wave off the AR.
