Seems right.
We're scared of Cabot.
There might be a few calls to the harber coaches to see how to play this one out!!
Going to be one heck of a game. I watched Bville Conway game on line, they looked very impressive but Conway gave them all they wanted.
I give slight edge to Bennie because they have been there last two years. But I didn't think Cabot could beat NLR twice so who knows.
Yeah, but BHS doesn't tend to win these games.

Cabot would have to have the ball for an hour of the game for them to win

I saw your post in other thread, can't believe you are pulling for West team over Central. If you would have won I would be pulling for NLR.
Playing in Cabot's backyard, I like Cabot in a close one. Like I said several weeks ago, Cabot is playing consistent ball on both sides, and Bentonville may a weakness or two that they did not have in years past. Cabot by four.

Going with Cabot in another close one. I was a little more concerned about this one before the Bennie/Conway game but seeing the trouble Bennie had with them it makes me feel better. Cabot had their way with Conway earlier in the season and that was without Launius. I think Cabot can match up better with Bennie than they did with NLR. I say a close one but it could possibly be by a larger margin.

Oh, so you actually "saw" the game?
Bentonville controlled the game more than the score might indicate...
No I did not see the game so excuse me from saying "saw'. I am going just off score alone and if Bennie did control the game more than the score shows then that means they made some crucial mistakes in order for the score to be that close. Get those cleaned up and this Friday night should make for another great game.
At the beginning of the season Bville's strength was its defense. The offense has matured over the last few weeks with a soph QB who has been impressive in his limited passing (approx 15-18 attempts per game). The offensive line is playing extremely well allowing the RBs plenty of room. The Scroggins and Jackson kids can both catch the deep ball. I now believe the offense is the stronger of the two units. Conway came to play and I was more worried about them than our next opponent. Their soph QB has really matured throughout the season. Wasn't the Cabot game w/ conway in the rain?? B. Smith completed 25/31 for 214 yds, almost exclusively short routes, extremely accurate. Conway had no answer for the Bville run game, bville only shot itself on drives by throwing on first down when they were easily gaining 6-10 yrds per carry. I would imagine if Conway played Cabot again, the game would be closer. Conway will be hard to beat next year, just my opinion. The two teams Bville lost to, Broken Arrow and Euless Trinity were very athletic, much like NLR. I believe Bville would win a rematch w BA (soph QB began play in the 2nd half of this game), but still would have trouble w ET (Trinity beat South Lake last nite #12 team in country and are now the quarterfinals). I'm expecting a great game between Cabot and BHS!!! Can Cabot or Bville slow each others offense?
I think it will be a high scoring game. Back and fourth just like against NLR. It will come down to who plays the cleanest mistake free game. I am looking forward to it.
Cabot still run a 5-2?
When Bennie loses, can we call them the new WM?

I would worry about taking PB on a neutral field. You have lost 5 games, the only game Benni has in common w/u is SS. Look at the results. You should worry about 6A and focus on your team. No we have been to the finals the last 4 years, 7A, the highest level. Wouldn't trade any of those losses for a 6A title.

Where is Billyo with an analysis of this game?
It was neat watching Auburn beat Alabama. Although I don't care for either. Lol!
Has anyone seen Malham run the guard around lately? He ran it against Searcy when I was a soph in 83, I was on the sidelines and was blown away by that play as well as our defense, it was about a 40-50 yard run for td. We lost that one, but beat them the next two years.
Parking for War Memorial
First let me tell you they almost always have plenty of parking in the WM parking lot for a reasonable fee and there is some on street parking that is free, though a little further away with even less security. If that works for you, read no further.
However - If a group wants to have a parking lot where they can reserve and park ten or more cars together for tailgating or fellowship and having a guaranteed place to meet then PM me. The lot is across Markham, but is as close to the West stands as most of the east parking lot.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it next week since Bennie doesn't ever see Cabot. I'm assuming Lunney Sr has seen Malham pull this before.

As a Cabot fan, I'm surprised that you want both teams to play to their potential. You really need Bville to play like they did against Conway. If they do, it will be a battle. But if Bvile plays to their potential (like against SS) they will win by a couple of TD's.
I think Cabot will need some help in this one, which is very possible. Bville is very penalty-prone this year (what kept Conway in the game). If Bville has penalties and a TO or 2, I expect Cabot to win a close game.
If Bville limits the penalties and takes care of the ball, I think they win by 14.
I'll go somewhere in the middle and say Bville by ten, 31-21.
Funny thing, each with 12 games, Cabot and Bennie have each allowed only 174 points to be scored on them this season.
Cabot is scoring 4.9 more ppg than Bentonville.
This is going to be a great game. The Bennie announcers said that Cabot reminded them (in style) of Euless Trinity (no offense dpaul, elswagado, texas) so that bodes ill for the Tigers. But, that's why we play the games.
The Guard Around play as used in the past is now an illegal play.
Malham has used a variation of this play many times in the last few years.
As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure he used it the last play of the half against NLR on Friday night but NLR sniffed it out and the back was unable to pick the ball up and gain anything.

I didn't say anything about wanting them to win. Just said I think they will. I hope it's a good game, because ill be there to watch. Sorry you are still living in your highschool days.
Never seen this Cabot school actually play. What I've heard is their colors are Pink and Gray and that's why up north they are known as the Pink Panthers. I understand their coach was hired the same year color TV became available to the public and he is still rocking the rotary dial telephone in his kitchen at home. I'm sure Eminem as coach of the Cabbage Patch Pink Panthers believes the Tigers that live up close to Yankee land are soft and coach Scary Lunney won all those titles over the years with smoke and mirrors and don't know real football from the Knute Rockne era. I can just hear the banter on the Cabbage patch sideline in the second half... " Coach, they ain't doin what their supposed to, this ain't real football, it ain't fair" ;)

Okay.
Friday the 13th. Everything pushed back a week.

Cabot is home.
Thought so. Thanks, Earl.
BHS , '08 and '10 they won ,and lost in '11 & '12, so 2 out of the last 6 years not bad.

Who do you think the extra week helps more?
My opinion is that extra time helps the coaching staffs more, and in this case I think it gives Lunney one more week to figure out the best defensive schemes to slow down the Cabot run game.
One thing is for sure. Bville will be the best team Cabot has seen so far this year. Cabot will be the 2nd, maybe 3rd best team Bville has faced this year. Not sure what that means other than Trinity gave us a good look at what Cabot will try and do.
On a side note, hopefully Mich St can hold on here.

My thoughts exactly
But if we can't practice it is a wasted week

Coach Lunney will find a way to practice. He'll rent a snowmobile to get players to the school if he has to.
This has noyhing to do with the game, but did you know that Bear Bryant played for Fordyce in 1930 and won a state championship?

Everyone here in south AR. knows that. They have a big sign that has it on there and you cant miss it when you drive through there.
My coach, Lacewell, is also from there.

Dunno about that. It's entirely possible that the two best teams in 7A played at Cabot's field a week ago. We'll see this weekend.

I believe they did, Mack. I really do.
That's funny, because we here at Southside thought that the State Championship game was played in the quarterfinals between the Rebels and Tigers...
See how easy that is..??
;-)
So suddenly, a team that hasn't won a title since the Nixon administration is one of the best in the state, but one that has been to four championship games in a row isn't?
I've seen it all...

No my good friend 2 bhsboys,,,,, my new friends from Cabot won't come on here and say anything provocative, but I will. You will be so puckered up from sitting on your hands, just waiting to get the ball, wondering how in the heck a team can just hit you for 3.5 yards a pop, 30 snaps in a row, use up 13 minutes in the quarter, with no penalties.... Then you'll get po'd because a leprachaunish sized tailback pops one for 15 -20-40 yards. Then on 4th and 6 inches, they'll throw their first, and maybe only pass that gets them a critical first down.
I couldn't believe it either, but you will see.... you will see.....

You would think that one such as I, one who has a NLR basketball state championship ring from the Nixon era, and a daughter who has one from NLR softball in this decade, who has watched the NLR boys rise to prominence in basketball with a state championship and NLR girls basketball winning several,,,,,,,, would be satisfied. I cannot be satisfied until football is in that pantheon. My feculent switch of loyalty for this one week does not diminish my love of the Wildcats. The dominance of NWA must end. The cycle of abuse must not continue. I will not take pride in Cabot winning the state champiuonship. I will take pride in the victory of Cental Arkansas over NWA.
Now,,, there is a great new Thai Restaurant in NLR [ Asian Lemongrass Bistro]. It's not your average Chinese food buffet type place. They have a master chef and their hot and spicy dishes are killer. I've worked my way up to 8 on the heat scale. If it's a steak you guys want me to provide, the Riverfront Steakhouse is my favorite. I prefer it over Sonny Williams actually. We have several great mom & pop Italian places. Mexican is the same as everyone else. Let me know preference and time as soon as you can.

BHS still out of school. They are practicing but can't imagine how this down time will affect them.
Today marked the 5th day of no school in Bentonville.
Advantage Cabot, if for no other reason than the Tigers routine is out the window...
And so begins the "Official Bville Excuse Thread".....................just in case...

Mack, I thought the Villa closed years ago. Where is it now? One of our favorite places to eat when we lived in NLR. I agree with Riverfront Steakhouse (would prefer Sirloins Inn, but we know about that).
The Tigers will be fine. Practicing in the TAC with everybody healthy. Hope the Cabot boys can back up their confidence. Seems as though some of them have already claimed the 7A title on their Twitter handles, according to some of our players. Those bright lights of
War Memorial can do funny things to young high school kids carrying the weight of an extremely excited town.
I've seen several references to the Bentonville/Conway game as a measure for the Bentonville/Cabot game. Don't believe that. Conway played a very good game and got ALL of the breaks (calls included). I never felt threatened at all. Bentonville used a very limited playbook, just enough to win. With BLJ gone, that won't happen again this year in the SCG. I like our defensive size and speed, and love our offense. Haven't seen Cabot play in many years, but I know they do what they do very well. Should be a good game, but I like our chances.
Safe travels to all fans, students and players.
I hope the weather is forecast to be better than Bentonville's on Friday night.

Ha,,, meant Bruno's. A friend of mine, Gio Bruno, recently retired here and he and his brother reopened it. I used to love the Villa though.
Sir Loin's Inn,,,,, you had to bring that up!!!!! I still crave that place :-)
Mack, you want way too much. Bone in Prime Rib and peeled shrimp on the salad bar, and all of that buttered bread from Sir Loin's Inn, and the end of the NWA dominance in the state championship. Not going to get either this weekend, unless you can spring that crook from jail that tried to reopen Sir Loin's, and get him to referee the game on Friday night.

Ahhhh Tone-Loc,,, you are vexing me. You had to play the buttered bread card on me didn't you? I've never had better bread anywhere, and the salad bar with shrimp, the rare prime rib with that Horsey sauce...... I throw rocks at Sonny Williams, Ruth's Chris, Riverfront.........
If the Gods allowed Sir Loins to reopen, I might be able to live under your domination a bit longer......

HA well at least this year I decided to get a hotel room. Its at the Marriott...how is the parking around downtown?
This would be my 6th trip, but:
1) The weather is looking frightful for the game
2) I don't have a kid playing
3) I'd either have to stay overnight or get back really late
4) I'm getting too old.
With that said, I'm keeping an open mind...
Earl....80% chance of rain tomorrow nite, with a temperature aroun 35 degrees....as much as I would love to have dinner with mack and our NLR buddies, I may have to sit this one out...
We're too pretty to have to cover up these faces and bodies with a bunch of winter wear and a rain suit...

Them running teams are a beeeotch but Bennie seen the best running team they've seen all year in Euless Trinity and they kept it close. And I can only think Bennie has improved since week 3.

Could be wrong but here how I evaluated it.
1) Kinda like a home game for Cabot. They will have a lot more fans there.
2) BV has a young QB who I think will struggle in the elements.
3) Cabot's ground game will get them into the 20's.
4) BV has made a habit of not playing too good in the rock the past two years, I think that continues.
5) RB for Cabot is the real deal!!
BV has had an advantage in most of their games on both offense and defensive lines. Also with line depth on both sides of the ball. Against Cabot, they wont have that big of an advantage.
Will be surprised if Cabot scores more than 14. Question is can Bennie score 15.
GO PANTHERS Run that Dead T to a State Title.
Article on Cabot players with weights and heights from this season...I, too, think Cabot will have an advantage in the bad weather tonight. But BL Sr. said Bennie's fully healthy. Can't ask for more than that:
Quote
http://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2013/aug/25/cabot-panthers-veteran-squad-hoping-lack-depth-won/?f=threerivers
Stout senior tight end Keith Pledger (6-0, 264) is a load at tight end. Pledger (325-pound bench press, 290-pound power clean and 455-pound squat) caught a 7-yard touchdown against North Little Rock.
Seniors Heath Pledger (6-0, 268) and Martin Turner (5-7, 250) anchor the line as three-year starters. Heath Pledger, Keith Pledger's twin, mans the right guard spot, while Turner is at right tackle.
Classmate Blake Gibson (6-0, 200) rotated at all of the line spots last fall but will play full time at center in 2013. Junior Brett Frazier (6-3, 210) didn't compete in spring football because of a knee injury he sustained in basketball. However, he has recovered from offseason surgery and fills in at tight end when the Panthers employ a double tight-end formation.
The concerns on an otherwise veteran line are on the left side. One player quit the team, and another was dismissed. Senior Devin Crawford (5-11, 243) didn't play last season but returned to the team in the offseason.
Senior Jordan Stull (5-10, 230) earned the tackle job after playing sparingly last fall.
"[The left side] is a little bit of a worry, but spring football helps a lot, and fall camp," Malham said. "They should be ready to go by the time the conference season starts."
Junior Wyatt Talik (5-8, 190) adds depth, as will classmate Jonathan Crowder (5-8, 260).
The Panthers only yielded 19 points per game last fall. Malham welcomes seven starters from that unit.
Senior tackles Brandon Arthur (6-2, 215) and Aaron Henry (5-11, 265), who squats 420 pounds, anchor the line. Junior Tristan Bulice (5-10, 237) fills in at nose guard. Junior Brian Marshall (5-9, 165) earned a starting end position, but in mid-August, Malham said "four or five players were still competing for the other end spot."
Just got word all spirit buses and cheer cancelled :'( but understandable
Ok so what's going on with the weather up there? DFW had it bad last weekend but things have calmed this week. Is it still icey up there or what?
100% chance of rain and cold. Would be nice if this was played on a better day. Only a true fan would show up in those conditions. Prediction, 7A has the smallest attendance by far this year.
Just rain? No freezing rain?

Just started sleeting small pellets that melt as soon as they hit [47 degrees at 1:42]. If this is all it does, it won't be bad.
Mack,
I'm not saying this as a putdown to anyone. Is Cabot one of the fastest (collectively) football teams you've ever seen?
Because the Bentonville paper posted heights and weights for both teams' offense/defense. And (if their measurements are correct) Bentonville has 20 starters 6' or higher, Cabot has 5. Cabot has one starter 6'2" (tallest player). Bentonville has 10 that height or taller. Again, this isn't meant as a slight on anyone as I know your team's big, too. I'm just wondering if the paper's numbers are right.
BTW, speaking of "Mack" and cold weather, I read your bulletin board handle and I always think of this character (a bubble gum cigar, if I can find one, if you saw the movie (don't worry, if you didn't it will help your peace of mind) and know who this "Mack" (or "Mac", I think) was:

At certain skill positions, and some on defense, I think they were as fast as us. We were not that big this year either. Their linemen seemed strong, very quick and pulled effectively. They don't make mistakes.
Mack,,, The Knife was my inspiration :-)
Thanks. Getting prepared for any result tonight. Clammy and wet out there, but I'm guessing both sides are raring to play.
This movie, obviously, was "Mack wants the flamethrower".

Did you see Jurassic Park? It's like Malham cloned the old '4 Horsemen'. Telling stat in the paper today that I knew, but did not dwell on. In their overtime win against us, they scored one more point than us. The paper said they held the ball 32 minutes to our 16 minutes in regulation. Extrapolating that on out, if we had gotten the stops we should have gotten, and narrowed the time of possession advantage, we probably would have won.
I'm telling you that they do very well that thing they do. So do ya'll. Should be interesting.

TY, Baitshop. I don't dare link the video I'm referencing for our friend Mack.
BTW, Mack, I'm expecting one sloggy, cold, nasty battle tonight. (The last Bennie sc I remember was a night game, too, on a Friday in 2010. Seems the weather was pretty calm that night, albeit cool.) You're right - these two teams do what they do very well. Will be an interesting one, I hope.

Can't get complacent because you are up by 18 though...(or were up by 18)
Wish the radio feed was working for Bentonville. Does Cabot have a radio broadcast?

Cabot is a great team that put up a good fight. Just too one dimensional to beat a balanced team like Bville.
Bville will be very, very tough to beat again next year with QB, both RB's and Scroggins back.
Great game. Congrats to Coach Lunney!
Cabot is not Euless Trinity. Lol.

Congrats to Barry, Robbie, and the Bennie players on their State Championship...
And congrats to the Cabot Panthers on their outstanding season....
Bville had 0 turnovers in bad weather, which was the difference.
Nice job by Ford of throwing when needed.

So suddenly, a team that hasn't won a title since the Nixon administration is one of the best in the state, but one that has been to four championship games in a row isn't?
I've seen it all...
Ah, a chink in your normally impenetrable armor...
I'm just sayin', if Cabot beats you as bad as I think they are going to beat you, the logical man would say a narrow defeat of NLR by Cabot, through transference, deems NLR the second best in the state this year.
The worm turns eventually..... always....
Also, I need you and Bait to give me your travel itinerary so I can set up dinner.......
My friend, I have a solution which I think is the only way you will get to share in a state football title.
Move to NW Arkansas. Lots of houses available...

What's cabot's size across the oline and d line? Mostly seniors?
Apparently, a closely guarded secret...
First, Earl, where we're you? We were looking for you.
Second, I see why Cabot didn't brag on the size of their line. The o-line looked like a bunch of Hobbits out there, but I tell you, they were well coached. Impressed how they stayed low and got leverage on the bigger Bentonville players.
The paper had most of Cabot's linemen listed at 5'8" or 5'9" which means they're probably not even that tall.
Question on. Lanaius. Did he fumble much this year? Hard to say if it was the weather or if the physical play of Bentonville defense caught up in the second half. Kid took some hits. Tough little fellow.
Lanaius has been sure handed all season. Not saying he has not fumbled but he is not prone to it.

Nine years in a row for the West meaning they have won every 7A football title handed out.
At least the central has a shot in basketball. Don't have to worry about Bentonville.

I have been baffled by these smaller statured players, like Lanaius and Tyrone Mahone for Bville. Man, back when I played you wouldn't see these smaller kids with this much 'umph' behind them. Its going to be a fun couple of seasons watching these teams.
Actually, Tiger, heights ate exactly what it says. For some reason, its rare for us to get the 6'1" or taller players. Been in Cabot over 20 yrs and I remember 3. Had one who started last year, but he was dismissed from the team in the offseason for disciplinary reasons. Shame too because he could've played at the next level if he could straighten himself out.
Launius is one tough kid. I remember a couple of fumbles during the season, but considering how often he carried it, no big deal. Weather probably played a part last night. The first one just looked like a great defensive play. The second one...............is a point of contention...lol.
Congrats to Bentonville. No not living up to hype this year. Great win.
