Camden Fairview       1    3       10
DeQueen                  0    4        0

Watson Chapel (4-0) has home wins over CF (by 5 in OT), and Hot
Springs (by 9). Chapel has road wins over Lakeside (by 18) and
DeQueen (by 21).

Hot Springs (3-1) has home wins over CF (by 10), and White Hall (by 29).
Hot Springs has a road win over Magnolia (by 26), and lost at Chapel by 9.

Hope's only loss was at White Hall (by 3), in the first conference game. Since
then Hope (3-1) has won three in a row with home wins over Magnolia (by 1 in OT),
and over DeQueen (by 30), and a road win over Lakeside (by 10).  We will know
more about Hope after Friday when the go on the road against Chapel.

Lakeside (2-2) has wins over White Hall (by 9) and DeQueen (by 17), and losses
to Watson Chapel (by 18) and Hope (by 10).

White Hall (2-2) has wins over Hope (by 3) and Magnolia (by 4).  White Hall's
losses were to Hot Springs (by 29) and Lakeside(by 9).

Magnolia and CF both with (1-3) records are the surprise teams of the conference.
Both teams returned 4 starters from last season, and were both expected to
contend for the conference title.  Magnolia's three losses were to Hot Springs (by 26), Hope (by 1) and to White Hall (by 4).  Their lone win was last night at CF (by 9).

CF's three losses were at Chapel (by 5 in OT), at Hot Springs (by 10), and at
home to Magnolia (by 9).  CF's only win was at home over win-less DeQueen (by 14).  DeQueen has lost all four of their games by large margins: to Lakeside (by 17),
to CF (by 14), to Chapel (by 21) and to Hope by (30).  Looks like DeQueen's best
result was at CF, which takes things back to, "What is wrong with CF and Magnolia?
Instead of them being near the top of the standings, they both are bringing up the rear.  What's even more confusing is that in pre-conference play, Magnolia beat El Dorado on the road by 20+, and CF beat Clarksville on a neutral court, and Sheridan (twice).

NOTE:  I need the Lakeside v Hope girls score for Jan 17th.  I was
told that Lakeside won by more than 10.

If the Camden Fairview boys don't learn how to run an offense against the zone they are done. Also if they don't start pressing and using their athleticism in the open court they are done because we can't shoot. And oh yeah one more thing, the coach is not smart because if he was he would show his boys how to break a zone defense and he would play to his teams strengths which is their athleticism. If I was him I would tell my team to start running as soon as they enter the gym!

Thanks for the standings Temprees. Interesting to see CF doing so bad since they beat Clarksville.

Thanks for the standings Temprees. Interesting to see CF doing so bad since they beat Clarksville.
Just found out today that there are major internal issues with CF. Coaching, players, and fans (attendance)
issues.  Much uncertainty within the boys program. Don't feel comfortable posting on this board what I am hearing.

Watson Chapel swept White Hall last night, but I didn't get the scores.  Our girls blew a 15 point lead, Barely scored in the fourth quarter.  The guys went to OT, but we were pretty much out of gas and Chapel ran away with it.

5A SOUTH STANDINGS THRU FEB 11th

BOYS                 W/L Points  Feb 14 Games
Hot Springs         7-1    60    @CF
Watson Chapel     8-2    74      DeQueen
Camden Fairview  6-3    52      Hot Springs
Hope                  5-4    38    @Lakeside
Lakeside             4-5    28      Hope
DeQueen             2-6   12     @WC
White Hall           2-8     7      Magnolia
Magnolia             1-7     9      @White Hall

The  South Conference has shaped up to a battle between Hot Springs and
Watson Chapel for the 1st and 2nd Seeds, and between CF, Hope and Lakeside
for the 3rd and 4th Seed.

Hot Springs has already played WC twice, losing by 9, and winning by 6. Next game
for Hot Springs is Feb 14 at CF. A win at CF will make Hot Springs hard to catch for
the #1 Seed.  Hot Springs has make up games against Magnolia (1-7) and at White
Hall (2-8).  Hot Springs remaining schedule include home games against Lakeside (4-5)
and Hope (5-4) and at DeQueen (2-6).  Hope gave Hot Springs a game at Hope.

WC has already play Hot Springs and CF twice, splitting with each.  WC holds the tie
breaker against both Hot Springs and CF.  WC needs CF to beat Hot Springs on 2/14
for Chapel to have a realistic shot at the #1 Seed.  Chapel's remaining games are home
against DeQueen (2-6), White Hall (2-8), Magnolia (1-7), and at Hope (5-4).

CF still has a mathematical chance at a number 1 or 2 seed, but that would require CF
to win out, and for either WC or Hot Springs to lose twice.  I just can't see that happening.
It appears that CF put themselves behind the 8 ball with that home loss to Magnolia (1-7).
CF has a makeup game at Magnolia, home games against Hot Springs and Hope, and away
games at White Hall and Lakeside.

Hope's remaining schedule includes a makeup game at DeQueen, at Lakeside, at CF,
WC, and at Hot Springs.  Hope won the first game against Lakeside by 10.

Lakeside's remaining schedule includes a home makeup game against DeQueen, and
home games against Hope, CF, and an away game at Hot Springs.

GIRLS                W/L   Points     Feb 14 Games
Hot Springs         8-0      80        @ CF
Watson Chapel     7-3      69            DeQueen

White Hall           6-3      42            Magnolia
Magnolia             3-5      30         @ White Hall
Camden Fairview  3-6      23            Hot Springs
Lakeside             3-7      24             Hope
Hope                  0-9       0          @ DeQueen

Hot Springs will be the #1 Seed.  They have not been challenged.  Their
remaining schedule includes makeup games against Magnolia and at White
Hall; and away games at CF, and DeQueen, and home games against Lakeside
and Hope.

WC's remaining games are home against DeQueen, White Hall, and Magnolia,
and at Hope.

DeQueen's remaining games include makeup games at home against Hope, and
at Lakeside.  Their other games are at WC, at Magnolia, and home games against
Hot Springs and White Hall.

White Hall's remaining schedule include a makeup game at home against Hot
Springs; and home games against Magnolia and CF, and away games against
Watson Chapel and DeQueen.

Talking to some folks at the WHHS game toonight, I think your record for our girls is wrong.  with the win tonight, they should be 10-2, locking up #2 seed with 1 more win.  We have 1 loss each to WC and HSHS, I'm not sure where the 3rd one came from.  Unless I'm forgetting something?

Magnolia                 3-9      25
White Hall               3-9      11
DeQueen                 2-8      12

Playoff seedings are not yet settled, but its close.
Hot Springs has remaining games at home Tuesday
against Hope, and at White Hall on Thursday.  Hot Springs
will need to win both of these games to claim the #1 Seed.
Hot Springs won by 4 in its earlier meeting at Hope.  Hope
is playing very well right now.  Hope took CF to the wire
last Tuesday, before losing; then knocked off WC last Friday.

WC has one game remaining, at home against Magnolia.  Chapel
can lock up the #2 seed with a win.  But if Hot Springs loses one
of its remaining two games, WC can claim the #1 Seed, since it
owns the tie breaker over Hot Springs.

CF has locked up the 3rd Seed.  It can lose its last two games,
at Magnolia on Monday, and at Lakeside on Tuesday, and still
claim the 3rd Seed.  However, it CF wins out, it still has a shot
at the #1 Seed; but for that to happen, Hot Springs would have
to lose twice, and WC would have to lose its last game.

If Hot Springs were to lose one more time, and CF and WC win
out, then you would have a 3 way tie (perfect triangle).  Points
don't favor CF who have 72, with a chance to get to 92 with 2 wins.
WC already has 94 points, and Hot Springs has 90 points.  Hot
Springs would only need to wins one of its two games by 3 points
to eliminate CF from consideration for the #1 seed.  Both WC and
Hot Springs own the tie breaker over CF.  WC has the tie breaker
advantage over Hot Springs.

Hope has remaining games at Hot Springs (Tuesday) and at De Queen.
If Hope wins one of these two games, it will lock up the #4 Seed, since
it owns the tie breaker over Lakeside.  For Lakeside to get the #4 Seed,
it will need to win Tuesday night at home against CF, and then have Hope
lose both of its remaining games.  Hope has the tie breaker over Lakeside.

GIRLS                   W/L     Points
Hot Springs          12-0      120
White Hall            10-2       80
Watson Chapel       9-4        89
DeQueen               6-6        40

  (Eliminated from the Playoffs)
Lakeside               5-8        33
Camden Fairview    4-8        33
Magnolia               3-9        30
Hope                   0-12         0

Hot Springs has remaining games at home against Hope
and at White Hall (Thursday).  A win at (0-12) Hope will lock
up the #1 Seed, which WILL happen.  The only way that Hope
can win this game is if Hot Springs Forfeits.

White Hall has remaining games at DeQueen (Tuesday)
and Hot Springs (Thursday).  White Hall can lock up the
#2 Seed with one more win.  If White Hall were to lose
both games (unlikely in my opinion), then Watson Chapel,
could claim the #2 Seed with a home win Tuesday over
Magnolia (3-9).  WC holds the tie breaker advantage over
White Hall.

WC has locked up the 3rd Seed, and is still alive for the
2nd Seed, as already explained.

DeQueen will be the 4th Seed from the South.

          White Hall           3- 9         11
          DeQueen            2-10        12

BOYS:
Hot Springs has one game remaining on Thursday at White Hall.
A Hot Springs win would give them the #1 Seed.  A loss would
give Watson Chapel the 1 seed with Hot Springs dropping to the
#2 Seed.

Camden Fairview is the #3 Seed.

Hope has a makeup game at DeQueen. (Not sure when this game
will be played).  Hope can claim the #4 Seed with a win.  A Hope
loss will give the 4 Seed to Lakeside.  Lakeside kept its slim playoff
hopes alive by beating CF on Tuesday, while Hope lost to Hot Springs.
