Paris has also beaten Danville 90-68 earlier in the Lavaca Tournament, but the game does not count toward conference standing.

Longfellow

I have been looking but I can't find the TR/Atkins score. It has eluded me.

HogMan1

Both Two Rivers teams won. Don't know the boys score but the girls was 58-54.

#EagleStrong

That's a good win for the Lady Gators. TR boys are better this year than people realize. I'd heard that they'd beaten Atkins, just not sure of the margin. Atkins is pretty bad, but give them a couple of years. Jr high team is really good.

#EagleStrong

Anyone know the result of the Danville-Booneville game? I assume Danville won, but I'd like to be sure. Or was it rescheduled for Booneville due to football like Charleston?

HogMan1

yes both Danville teams won just don't know the score. TR Gators Girls are 10-4 and are not bad. They run a lot of different defensive sets and play hard. Wonder View beat them 63-53 Monday and was a 2pt game with 2 mins left.

Littlejohnfan65

Boys score was

Danville 70
Booneville 50

Believe I heard the boys game with TR-Atkins was

Two Rivers 60
Atkins       46

Lamar-Paris and Danville-Two Rivers are really intriguing matchups on Tuesday. Atkins-Charleston not so much. Red Devils still a couple of years away.

Don't have a final...But Two Rivers Boys were up 10 on Danville after 3 quarters....Kid from Two Rivers had 27(can't remember his name) and Trusty from Danville had 33 through that point...

BigMan15

BigMan15

Paris girls won as well but dont have score

Littlejohnfan65

Two Rivers 71
Danville     66

Jay Trusty 42 points, 19 Rebs. Believe Logan Jones for TR 27.  Danville had ball down three 69-66 with 10 secs left but turned it over. TR scored lay up for final margin.

Littlejohnfan65

TR girls defeat Danville in OT. Not sure of final

#EagleStrong

Jay Trusty, Danville- 42 points
Daniel McCarly, Lamar- 34 points
Brandon Fenner, Paris- 32 points
Logan Jones, Two Rivers- 27 points

And the Charleston-Atkins score hasn't even been reported yet. Some big scoring nights in the conference this evening.

They won  55 to 49,Lamar Sr point guard was sick and didn't play but two minutes.   So  next game should be better.

Shaw girl? I thought something was wrong with her. She's usually a beast out there. Rest of her team really rallied when Paris got up 31-15. Lady Eagles were missing two starters also. Not sure about when they'll be back. It'll be interesting, but Lamar is always extremely tough to play at home.

WPWells

I know Atkins won girls and Charleston won boys

BigMan15

Watching lamar last night they could be top ten...mcarley is probably the 2nd or 3rd best player in the conference and they have a few good role players to go along with him..they can upset somebody if u dont bring ur A game..

Littlejohnfan65

From swtimes paper, scores were boys game

Charleston 66          Matthew Ward 25
Atkins       32

Girls

Atkins 63
Charleston 55

Any word on TR-Booneville? I'd be shocked if it wasn't a Gator blowout, but I'd like to be sure.

Did I miss the Lamar vs Atkins boy's score somewhere

#EagleStrong

Yeah, I'm missing the Lamar-Atkins score also. Safe bet on Lamar, but, again, I'd like to be sure.

#EagleStrong

Big week for Two Rivers. The Gators have been a bit of a sleeper, and even though they technically lead the conference standings, no one is really paying any attention to them. This week they get Lamar, ostensibly the #3 team in a very competitive conference led by one of its best players in Daniel McCarly, and Charleston, the class of the conference and last year's state runner-up. We'll learn a lot more about them this week.

Paris has a bit of a challenge travelling to Danville. They lost an emotional game against Charleston last week, a game that they led until the three minute mark in the fourth quarter. Tough to say how they'll respond. Danville is a tricky team led by Jay Trusty, who's scored more than 1,500 points in his career. Expect a high-scoring shootout.

Atkins-Booneville is a game no one cares about, but one of those teams is going to get their first, maybe only, conference win. Paris at Booneville will probably get ugly.

Most interesting game is probably Two Rivers-Lamar.

Longfellow

Having only seen lamar play in the two rivers tourney, they look to be competitive only when McCarley is on the floor.
He is a dynamic offensive talent and scrappy on defense, but is prone to foul trouble. I think my gators are gonna prove that they aren't just a door mat and get a big win against the Warriors

WPWells

Longfellow you coming to Charleston on Friday?

-Painted Fan-

False.
Paris did not lead the entire game against Charleston until late in the game.
The Tigers actually lead at the very beginning of the game- before the refs decided to take over.
Still a great, hard-fought game, but let's call a spade a spade.

BigMan15

Let it go..fouls that were called early were fouls..get over it..

sillyrabbit

Yea, blocking out on a free throw is definitely a foul.

BigMan15

If u hook it is..how bout in the second half its not a foul to elbow someone in the jaw on purpose..

-Painted Fan-

And Paris didn't have any thrown elbows?
Why don't you ask Linehan...

BigMan15

Brandon caught two...but yes i seen his..

Fine, they led 3-2 early. That's not really the point, Paris led the vast majority of the game. And stop blaming refs for the game being close. Again, when you play physical D like Charleston, which is an asset, you get more fouls called. Besides, they swallowed their whistles in the second half. The final foul count was Paris- 18, Charleston- 20. Charleston's defense is more physical than Paris's, hence they had marginally more fouls called against them. If they weren't as physical and aggressive, they wouldn't be as effective.

Again, False.
How can Charleston end up with 20 total fouls when 19 were called in the 1st half?
At one point, it was 14-2, and ended up 19-8 at the half.
The 2nd half was 11-7 Paris, with most of those 11 being in the final 3 minutes when Paris was trying to foul.
1/3 of Eagle points (20) came from the foul line.

HogMan1

The only undefeated team left in girls are Two Rivers with a big game with Lamar Tuesday night!

#EagleStrong

More importantly, we have another week of basketball to get ready for. Unless AHSAA is off, Charleston has a short week with just Two Rivers which is kind of an interesting game. The coaches are brothers-in-law, Two Rivers has quietly raced out to a very respectable record, but outside of knocking off Dardanelle, they don't have any signature wins. I'd be very surprised if TR kept it that close, but we'll see what they're made of. As I said before, TR-Lamar is the most interesting game of the week, and TR is the team to pay most attention to this week.

Paris is on upset alert. Danville is dangerous and Trusty is potent enough to knock them off if they don't show up. They played earlier in the Lavaca Tournament, with Paris winning 90-68. Danville was missing a couple of players though. Not sure what sort of a difference they would have made, but definitely a factor. Danville also beat Wonderview, a top tier 1A team that beat both County Line and Scranton, the two 1A teams that knocked off Paris and Charleston, respectively. And Paris rarely plays well on the road at Danville. Keep an eye on that one.

And then there's Atkins-Booneville. Of all the conference games played this week, it's definitely one of them. Yup.

Hm, now you're just spouting off. I know for a fact that the foul count was 18-20. I didn't just pull that out of thin air. If you'd like me to me more specific:

Paris
D. Buchanan- 2
M. Fitzjurls- 3
W. Nehus- 2
D. Rice- 1
B. Fenner- 2
G. Hampton- 4
T. Robinson- 2
G. Hutson- 2
Total- 18

Charleston
A. Smith- 2
D. Linehan- 3
T. King- 4
T. Skeets- 3
Mi. Ward- 2
R. Jackson- 3
W. Gerlick- 3
Total- 20

And you were close: 17 of Paris's points came off free throws. 16 fouls called on Charleston in the first half. 4 in the second, not 7 like you purport, committed by Linehan, King, Skeets, and Michael Ward. Hence my stance that the refs swallowed their whistles in the second half.

-Painted Fan-

Actually, I was wrong on a couple of things.
First, it was 20 points scored by Paris from the foul line- in the 1st half (out of 34).
Second- Smith had 2 fouls alright- in the 1st quarter!
It was 19-8 in the 1st half, and 11-5 (not 7) in the 2nd. As I stated before, majority of those 11 came in the final 3 minutes.
