I agree.

Either way Smackover probably wins, but Rivercrest will have a hard time keeping up on turf.

Both sides should be happy about this move.

Smackover has a very nice stadium, very large for a 3A school. El Dorado has a very fine facility though. Turf, very large stadium, great lighting, etc.

For Rivercrest, there will be many more eating options and hotels.

Good call to move if the Smackover stadium is a pig pen.
Lol this is about a football game not a sleepover or buffet eating contest 😄

You have a 300 pound lineman. There is at least one person that will be interested in the buffet eating contest.
No he's still full from feasting on the Glen Rose d-linemen, and running backs .ha!
Rivercrest lineman weight
Big Freddy-350
Cole-380
Stephan-300
Joseph-305
Trapp-290
Henard-240
Daniel-288
These boys aint full yet! They want to sit at the table one more time!

That would be a good start to a Jenny Craig add
Way to Cyberbully a bunch of HS kids guy, hope you feel real good about yourself

This isn't a presidential debate where all the participants argue about where they stand on the stage and what color skittles are in the green room.

Smackover is the host team.  They are responsible for the venue.  The AAA requires minimum standards for a 3A playoff venue.  The El Dorado facility more than meets those standards.  The AAA still gets their cut of the gate so they're happy.

I've never heard of Rivercrest, but the folks on this thread are some of the whiniest I've read.

Put on the big boy pants.  Change the address in the GPS.  Leave 15 minutes earlier.  Play ball.

Longfellow

I think everyone is getting way to worked up about this. People on both sides have said they don't care where the game is played, but you can't let the topic die. Smackover responsible for the venue. If they think the field is in too poor shape, let them change it. It's like a 5 hour drive. What's 15 more minutes to play in a bigger, nicer stadium? All you gotta do is win and you get to play in one of the nicest stadiums in the state

State champs 2010

I agree Longfellow. But I do understand where no one has notified rivercrest in any kind of way except on this tread.. No matter where the game is played both teams are still going to have to show up and play football..

Sounds like the Carlisle fans from a couple years back when JC moved their game to eldo. Saying that the turf would make jc faster and their team slower and black blah blah.

Then playing on the most expensive field in Union County and one of the top 15 or so high school football venues in the state should be fun.  Come on down.

Paperman

If you want a sloppy field, move the game to Rivercrest. The field at the Patch got pretty chewed up Friday night. I think playing on a turf field is of no real advantage to either team. Both teams have their speed, it just makes the passing game a little bit easier in my estimation.

So does Smackover

So does Independence in Shreveport and AT&T in Arlington, but El Doradeaux was available and costs less to borrow.

So what do they do during regular season games when it rains there. Why is it so important to move this certain playoff game.

During the regular season they don't play back to back games at home. Use your brains guys.

During the season the Union County schools do the best they can with what they've got.

I'm no big fan of El Do but I do applaud them for making their facility available once their season is over.  Memorial Stadium is not on the El Do campus.  I think it's a city park that's leased to the school for some incredibly low amount.

Seems to me rivercrest is scared..... two years ago in 2a bearden fans were angry because des arc wouldn't move their playoff game..

I heard years ago that the stadium belonged to the county. Eldo school just leases it. Never did research just took the man's word on it.

why would rivercrest be scared when this will help them as well? If anyone is scared it would be smack cause they know anything could happen on a wet field and the colts are use to playing in the mudd! Lol!

the way I see it, Smackover is scared! They are the ones wanting the move. I can tell you this, if it's moved, #11 WILL STILL be in the QB's face all night.   He was finally moved to a position that suits him.

redandgray

Rivercrest coaches, players, and most fans don't care where the game is played...probably the biggest thing is that this was posted and no one from Rivercrest was informed.  We don't care.  We're going to give it all we've got...if it's enough Friday night, awesome...if it's not, oh well.  Go Colts!

WHAT???

dragondad

Actually a wet muddy field (no rain) benefits a passing team because the D-backs have a harder time defending the pass. They can't make quick moves to adjust, especially if they're playing zone.

WHITEchicken

dragondad, that is my view as well. the offense is always at an advantage because they know where they are going. the defense has to adjust to the offense.
on the other hand the ball being wet does not help the offense at all. the main thing is keeping the balls dry. If there were 100 balls for each team that wouldnt be a problem.

he mention the game been move will help RC.  I  agree they it could help those linemen the will be pulling.

dragondad

Likewise a wet muddy field benefits a team with good run D because the RB can't make his cuts or drive the pile like he can on dry ground.

WHITEchicken

ohhh that will be pulling. got it. you mean holding and pulling to the ground?...haha

Rivercrest is playing with house money at this point.  They've got nothing to lose.  I guarantee they would play this game wherever Smackover wanted them to and be more than happy to show up.

WHITEchicken

i have been to the casino a couple of times and everytime I am playing with house money I am still scared to lose it.

luxora4life

If the field is bad , it is a responsible thing to move the game for safety reasons.  That 2009 Rivercrest game at Cave City was crazy scary to watch.  Both teams were lucky they didn't lose any players with a knee injury.  Ball carriers legs were literally stuck in ankle high mud while being tackled. Linemen being chop block while their feet were stuck in the mud.

WHITEchicken

Moving the game because of safety is probably the reason why the Bucks are moving the game.
