End of an Era

Well, as the Charleston football season draws to an end this year, so does the 12th Man connection with the program. I will still be cheering for the Tigers in future seasons, but I will no longer have the "blind homer" connection to the football program. My brother is graduating, and my youngest brother does not play football, so I will not have the familial connection. I'd like to thank everyone from Charleston that has put up with me year after year. I can be loud and obnoxious at games at times. The Charleston community gave me much growing up, and I am grateful for that. I will now be turning my attention to baseball, which both of my brothers play.

Now, about tonight's game, I could not be more proud to be a Tiger tonight. Even though it was not enough, the Tigers still went toe to toe with the state's #1 team. This was a rough year (how could it not be with what we lost?) but the Tigers still came out and fought every game. This team will be a force to be reckoned with next year. I wouldn't bet against them winning state.

I gave Smackover a lot of grief this week, but they were my preseason pick to win state, my pick in the bracket contest, and my pick tonight. They're that good, and I will be surprised if they don't win it all. Congrats to the Smackover faithful, especially PB.

Finally, as I said, I will still be a Charleston fan. I won't be leaving the boards. I believe Coach Kendrick is a great coach, but more importantly he is a great man. He's someone I'm proud to have coaching my alma mater.

We will miss the "old" 12th Man CHS. A great FF ride. You are a true fan of Charleston but things DO go in circles in life, as you are now experiencing. Thanks for all the banter, good and bad. It's just part of being a FF participant. Lanny and BG like it if done in a non-offensive way. Sometimes things are "borderline" but clear up quickly, mainly out of respect.

He was serious. Painted Fan has felt a call lately and has been working the booths at Christian concerts (like Food for the Hungry). It's really an awesome thing that he's doing, spreading the love of Christ through helping others
