I wonder who will end up getting this job? Saline Courier had a write up today announcing brakebill as new poyen indians head boys coach as did bauxite twitter feed.

Still at Poyen just not coaching basketball

So I'm sure the work environment at Bauxite hasn't been great recently, but Poyen basketball isn't very good. Is this a move closer to home or what?

Not sure why he left. He had it rolling at Bauxite. Poyen basketball has been struggling for a long time. It will be interesting how Brakebill does there and how long he stays.

Probably because some studs graduated.

They are young, but Bauxite has some Jr. High kids that are impressive.

His name is Gabe George, not close to be full grown, he's went from 5'7 to 6' or a little over this summer. I ran into him not long ago at an AAU tournament. Kid can score at all 3 levels, and the ball is on a string when he dribbles. Bright future!

Maybe the pressure got to him?

Doubtful. I think Bauxite football on the rise and having to battle being a "football" school had more to do with it. I think he is safe where he is at not ever being considered a football school at least as long as he coaches.

Saw him at Bryant scrimmage.  Looks pretty mature for a 9th grader.  Don't see him getting much taller at all. Good player.  Will be a D2 type IMO.

Is George playing for the HS team or 9th grade?  He's not on the Max Preps roster

He's in 9th grade but I'm pretty sure he's a year ahead of everyone else in his class

Which is a huge advantage.

In most cases moving a freshmen up to high is a mistake as far as the speed of the game, however there are some freshmen that are moving up around the state that may be able to play at the high school level.  He seems to be one.
