Outlook: The division of Springdale High into two high schools took a toll on the Bulldog's football fortunes last year. The Bulldogs saw a number of streaks come to end like a string of eight straight playoff appearances and 55 straight weeks of being ranked in the Associated Press poll. It may not get much better for Springdale this year. Only three starters return on an offensive that managed just three touchdowns per game last year; lineman Matt Smothers, and receivers Travis Sizemore and Michael Upton. Defensively, only Bryan Cossey returns at end. Ashton Glaser appears to have the quarterback position locked up to lead the Bulldog's spread attack. Joining Sizemore and Upton at the receiver position will be Zack Guilliam, Sam McKellips and LeDarius Eckwood. That could be the strong point of the team this year if Glaser develops. Bradley Little appears set to be the lone back in the offense. Defensively, Morgan Welch could be a leader at linebacker to go with Cossey.

Comments from Johnson: "Receivers are good but with little or no experience. The O-line is young. Matt is the only one that is back. Quarterback is new and untested. Bryan is a good football player with a lot of ability. Springdale needs to find players to step up and help Bryan this year. We're a young team with low numbers in senior class. We have inexperience at every position. Our quarterback must play well. The young players must play well."
