Last season was a learning experience for the Dragons as they struggled to a 2-8 record, but lessons were learned and DeWitt is poised to make a run at the playoffs. Bigham must find a quarterback to run his Double Wing offense, but all three running backs return as does college prospect junior lineman Justin Carney. The Dragon defensive unit returns six starters and their experience will be needed in the rugged 8-4A conference. The Dragons should be improved in 2007 and pushing for a playoff spot especially with four out their final five games at home. Comments by coach: "We return all three starting running backs, but we have to replace our quarterback. We must have a solid leader in our new quarterback. We think we will have that, and will be much better athletically there. We must replace six of seven starters on our offensive line, but we have very capable people there. Our main challenge will be to jell all the new players with our returning starters, but we have no glaring weaknesses. Our overall athleticism will be much better this year, but we have to count on quite a few new players. We have a very solid backfield, all three running backs are capable of 1,000-yard seasons. We should be much more capable of throwing the ball this year. Our defense will be fairly young, but extremely quick. We are a ball-control team, so we hope to keep our defense on the sideline as much as possible. We feel like we have a chance to be right in the middle of the race. This will be our second year in our system, and we should get off to a quick start."
